I'd rather we go with specialist openers to be honest. Jamshed, for one. Perhaps Nazir as the other.

My beef with Kamran isn't so much with the bat, it's his ineptitude with the gloves. Now of course if he was averaging close to 40 with the bat then his butter-fingers could be somewhat overlooked. Unfortunately that's not the case.

Don't even need to score quickly right now, just have to make survival the main priority. Still have a little over two days left in this match.

New ball has arrived. Ooh, as the English have been saying recently, it's squeeky bum time for the Pakistan fans (hey what a great saying).
 
This partnership is 40 now. Akmal and Malik are well overdue an innings of substance this series.
 
Kamran really worried about those deliveries coming back in from Kulasekara, playing quite a way inside the line

whereas i would open with akmal in odi's...each and every time...plenty of wicket keepers have done it in the past and it could be a good move to have akmal open...he was good in 20/20 and has shown glimpses of being good at odi level too...with respect to his average when opening, its always difficult being shunted from top of the order to lower order..i think to find out how good (or bad or average) he can be as opener he has to be given a consistent run at it...

with respect to his keeping, yes he dropped a couple of sitters in this series but was superb in the 20/20 and looked to be improving even in the odi series against aussies...i still think he is a very good keeper and apart from this test series has shown the form he had when he first came onto the scene.

anyway, thats my take on it...whoever is picked i will support but i still think kamran is our best option in odi's

Ceratainly, don't think Pak will lose this one.

I had a feeling that M's would come good in this last match and Pak will win it, losing series 2-1 is better than losing it 3-0, but it should be at the expense of having M's in the playing 11 for next 12 months.
 
These two have quietly and quickly put on 50 together. Vital partnership.

Lead over 300 now. The Lankans are in trouble.
 
Will YK declare? or will it be a case wait to see if pakistan is bowled out.

Highest total chased in Sri lanka is 370 odd which SL scored 9 wickets down against S.A a few years ago.

Yesterday in his interview he said he would like bat all day today and 30-40 overs tomorrow if they survive till then :)
 
Considering Malik, Misbah and Malik has the ability to perform and play the new ball when they want to .....here is the food for thoughts to you guys......
A Stern warning shall be issued to these 3 players by the PCB Chairman in the public regarding their casual attitude during the first 2 tests in srilanka...they should be properly reprimanded in public by the PCB Cheif (as he has already done with Akhtar the previous bad boy of the team)......issued a final warning stating that if again they perform at their will instead of the team's will and need......they will be shown the door straight away........no more chance....probably we may bear them for 1 more series (as it is very much clear that after their innings today PCB will never drop them from Test Squad).......
 
Malik being out there for 4 hours-

getting some treatment for cramps.
 
Looks like Akmal doing his usual trick of just scoring enough runs to save himself from the chop. A few, albeit vital, runs shouldn't mask his poor technique with both sets of gloves.

yeah strange that...pakistan is team comprising of three or four players who do nothing and then just enough to keep getting selected...

quiet brilliant from these players if its actually true (not!)...
 
Begs the question - and YK may take this into consideration before he thinks of declaration etc

is the pitch getting easier to bat on ?

wow..how conveniently these ppl came back into form just when they had everything to play for , i.e to play for themselves only!

I think if they have to declare, probably declare at lunch tomorrow. And a lead of 375+.
