Yep, the bowlers are paid to bowl. They've just had more than an hour's rest. All we're asking for is a quick 6-8 over spell from Junaid and 10 overs from the spinners. Then they can take an ice bath and get all the rest and massage's they want. :asif
 
Seriously, has ever a team been bowled out within 40 overs in the past on a flat pancake of pitch like this?
 
Misbahs looking for 300..can we get it? still think will be draw..but we will be able to take the final half hour??
 
259 off 40 on such a placid track would be something SL could chance, i reckon they would have a go at it.

Question is if we dec and backfire then misbah would get slaughtered!
 
Declaration making people scared :facepalm: , SL runrate was 3.13 last innings and dilshan got the ugliest century ever. Junaid just took a 5 fer and can take another one.
 
I'm pleasantly surprised by the approach Misbah is taking here.

Can our bowlers back him up?
 
That's the point I was making. Poor Misbah cannot win.

If he goes for a win like today, he is risking the bowler's health and a loss...

If he goes for a safe draw like he has in the past, he is coward...

Sanga must be tired after that marathon of an innings, get Dilshan early, and I'll have my hopes up :D
 
lankans batting looks pretty shakey!! if we can get sangs and dilshan then we can blow the rest away!
 
Hopefully this aggressive intent will rub off on the bowlers....if Misbah does decide to declare

Pakistan are famous for bowling out teams in one single session e.g. England, India etc
 
Donot declare misbah whatever u do ppl who dun like wont like u anyway, but declaring might cost us match so donot declare

we've still got another test. No point.

If we lose here, than that's game over. No point of the third test, won't change anything. We have to live to fight another day. 40 overs to chase this sort of target is very doable. And if they decide to apply the brakes if the chase isn't going well they can, and play out a draw. All we are doing here is giving SL a chance to win if we declare. There is no point.
 
That game against England in UAE offered a lot of spin. Quick spin. Here its slow spin
 
seriously pak fan asking to declare are never a fan of misbah, its more imp to look at pitch form of batsman and health of our bowlers, bat it out and go for 3rd test with our bowlers not broken down, This is flat pitch no point in declaration

There are more chances of us winning then them here. We need to win to have any chance of winning the series.
 
The point where pakistan should have done better in this match is the dilshan 100 a very poor 100 and we should have got him out early.

we will still go in next match with positive frame of mind, its absurd to say few wkts will make us positive and absence will make us negative, pak against horrible umpiring in 1st test never dropped shoulders neither they did here today so it ant gonna hurt pak make SL field and field

I don't see it.

We scored at six an over here. If Sri lanka bat at six an over, they will win.

What's more we only lost 1 batsman wicket, and 1 bowler wicket. Seeing that, Sri lanka could bat even more aggressively than we did considering they go down to the last wicket.

No ,not declaring will be a negative thing. They do not want us to declare , and getting a few wickets here will boost the bowlers confidence more and who knows we might go on to take all ten.
 
Would have just batted the whole 56 overs. Got a few centuries. Rested bowlers etc..

Yah pradeep bowled 2 feet outside off all the time , they were not interested in bowling but we are!
 
One thing is for sure and that is the Misbah effect! As soon as he returns, we even make a game out of rain affected match on a flat pitch!!

that's how indians play their cricket because of their bowling , but we have good bowling with ajmal ,rehman and junaid.
 
Misbah won't declare without 300 on the board, and if we can give away 300 in less than a session, then we deserve to lose.

259 runs in 40 is not a easy chase.... we are completely safe
 
Chasing 260 on day 5 is as it is a dodgy task but to do it in 40 overs is all the more impossible. Pakistan should declare, no way in the world Sri Lanka will chase this down, if they do it'll only open door for their collapse and I'm sure Cardiff episode might still be in their minds.

and what was ajmal figure? and junaid got wkts with old ball which when comes wont be needed cuz SL would be home by then
 
Seems like Misbah wants a lead of 300 befor he declares. He is being defensive here. SL wont mind this at all.

Actually it may seem as though 2 overs doens't make a difference but it's actually 4 overs because you lose two due to the change. These overs wouldn't have been lost if they had declared at tea.

How its disgrace to test cricket? If u wnat to tlk abt disgrace the pitch and umpiring is disgraceful, pak has done nothing to disgrace it. Some ppl really need to learn abt test cricket

thats quiet right that would mean now 36 overs to get 250 plus now its upto SL if they wnat a win
 
What is that about? One over after the break? Illogical. If they had declared at tea, they wouldn't have lost the two overs that will not be used up in the changeover.
 
sri Lanka wont be stupid to actually attempt this total, they will have a biff with Dilshan that Will fail

Misbah probably didn't know you have to tell the other team you want to declare no more than 10 mins into tea break. He prob told them at the end of tea and so had to come out again.

What was the point of coming in to bat and wasting four overs then declaring... those four overs could have been used to take some wickets... then again they could have been used to chase the target... either way haters will find a way to hate on Misbah..

I personally think it is whatmore and younus are behind this declaration and setting target to chase... Misbah proably wanted to bat it out for a draw like hes done times before
