Tasmania v Pakistan | Tour Match | Hobart | 19-21 Dec 09

Misbah takes two catches in slips cementing his position for the first test as a specialist fielder.

Misbah is the ideal go to man when some one is talking about first slip, i mean he is pretty good and experienced.

I cant believe pakistan didnt play rana in new zealand. I saw him ball in champions trophy and I thought he was very good. He should have had gambhirs wicket

Rana would have been a hand ful in new zealand's swinging conditions. I think he is a better option then Gul or sami

For those who blasted the Pak openers for scoring slowly in the first session, Tasmania have scored 35 runs off 20 overs.

we have the better bowlers, it's understandable :D

Rauf Khan back .. he's remarkably similar to Abdur Rauf.

Ajmal seems to be troubling these guys.

We gotta play two spinners.

Rauf strikes, would love to see him play in the first game in place of gul, he needs the rest

Rauf gets a wicket .. he was dropped earlier also.

Seems to be doing better than Gul

RAUF KHANN...

He's a lot better then Abdur Rauf in my opinion. :))

Tasmania batting poorly.

another wicket for Rauf, really has been playing well in these warm up games, needs to get a chance

i think umar gul should start worrying about his place......if sami can show in the nets that he still has some serious pace, and with the way rauf is bowling, their is serious competition for the 3rd pacer

Rauf must be first in line for a seam bowling spot if any of the top three get injured

Naah .. One wicket a piece for Rauf Khan and Abdur Rauf now.

Abdur Rauf's economy rate is also better than Ajmal. Good bowling I say all around.

Rauf for Gul, the guy performed whenever given a chance. Time to get him in the playing eleven.

And I also think Jr should allowed to play his usual game. No need to ask him to give up his aggressive style of batting.

Looks like Ajmal is containing the batsmen but is not necessarily a wicket-taking threat in the longer versions of the game. He is no Saqi.

Just got one wicket

TD Paine lbw: Ajmal

Ajmal gets the breakthrough ! To the above poster i don't think so this is only the second day and reading the commentary Ajmal has had some close ones.

We can hopefully get a couple more wickets tonight and make them follow on tomorrow, a victory would be a huge confidence boaster.

Can you guys keep on updating the score by yourself, or I've to ask that time and again. :pissed:

We're very sorry your majesty! :D

Seriously, can someone post an update because my mob refuses to open the score card! Thanks!

Ajmal sahab pit gay..No test match for him and MCG debut may be on next visit

he has taken 2 wickets...but yea you're right. They weren't going to play him at MCG anyway..

I'm thinking Abdur Rauf should be given a chance ahead of Gul. He impressed in NZ practice match, and now here as well. And from what I've seen, he is a decent tailender.

does anyone know if tasmania is any good? how do they rank in the sheffield shield?

they are ranked #2 in the one day format. Dunno about longer format.

shouldnt fawad be bowling before farhat

Yep but the team is already decided and Farhat is practicing as a fifth bowler.

I have heard that Tasmania is aussies best and toughest domestic side so you can tell by that. Im very happy with our performances from the bat and bowl. Big applaud for KAMI. coming at no.7 and scoring a 100 is really something. GREAT job CAPTAIN and the way he handled his bowlers, he must be given credit and GUL bowling only 5 overs shows that he wont be playing the 1st test match and ajmal doing good along with rauf and amir who are great. for me i say RAUF as the 3rd seamer, lets see how he does in the 1st test and if failed then sami for 2nd. hope we win this one which will be a great booster for our team

thats stumps

Pak should clean up the tail in 15-20 overs and start the batting practice again afterwards.

Rauf numbers look good, Gul on the other hand looks pathetic. Make the change at least for the 1st test.

Abdur Rauf is impressive once again, maybe he should play the first match ahead of Gul.

Pakistan badly need an all rounder (Razzaq?) playing in place of Misbah. we need a fifth bowler.
Let's see if YK comes back after this series to replace Faisal Iqbal.

This team is looking better but these two changes (weak links) will make it more competitive.

Tasmania are currently 4th in the Sheffield Shield out of six teams, they have won 1, lost 2 and drawn 2.

I heard commentators on ABC during WI and Aus match and they were saying Australia better watch out, Pakistan wont give you any chances like WI have; still winning after getting bowled out for 150. They were saying Pakistan are toiling with Tasmania bowlers as if they were club cricketers. they were worried that twice they were bowled out for a low score against WI series; what would they do against the world class bowling (and fielding ?) side of Pakistan. Ponting said in radio interview that all bowlers(Hilfenhus, Siddle including) and himself should be fit to face Pakistan on Boxing day.

Rauf already struck, in the OZ-WI Test match

Good bring it on.

I guess the Aussie commentators haven't seen Pakistan playing Test cricket for while.

I was just wondering, when the pessimists will step in. You just saved my day.

Well, that was a practice series, the real test cricket between 2 great sides begins next week ;-) ;-) ;-)

Good to see the inbreds getting an almighty @rsewhooping from Pakistan.

I think Pakistan's batting lineup is worse than WI's, but the bowling is miles ahead. And bowling wins matches.

OZGOD what you think of Tasmania's team? Their bowling and batting? I only know about Geeves and Paine.

They're coming 4th out of 6th for a reason, put it that way. They're pretty ordinary. But they were playing on their home ground.

So this performance doesn't mean that much, eh?

There batting seems to be in pretty good form

EJ Cowan 576 @ 64.00 (2nd highest run getter )
GJ Bailey 456 @ 57.00 ( 4th highest run getter )
AJ Doolan 371 @ 41.22

Its their bowling which seems rather weak, still looking at the table there isn't a lot of difference between all the teams. other then Victoria all are a few points apart.

the only worry for me with Rauf is that we will have two very similar type of bowlers in Asif and Rauf and if pitch is flat then they won't be lethal at all

i donno i wanna go in with ASIF, AMMER, KANERIA and SAMI

i know Sami sucks but we need some pace to troble the aussies just like Roach did

Good positive start to the tour with both ball and bat. Rauf doing his best for a starting place instead of Gul.

gul is a disaster with the new ball

Can't even take wickets in supportive conditions and just leaks runs

Just not good enough, he should stick to pyjama cricket

I cannot even remember the last time a subcontinent side came to Australia and dominated the warm up match. Tasmania are a decent team in their home conditions with 3 international players (plus Bailey who will play for Australia one day) and Pakistan are pwning them.

I would be rapt if I were :inti I would be sleeping contentedly in my sun chair.

All the bowlers have taken wickets, including the 2 who should be playing the Test match (Aamer and Rauf Khan) next week. Ajmal has taken wickets and he will be needed in Sydney.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is that 2 of the 4 Pakistan first choice bowlers have only managed two wickets between them :) I hope though that Rauf 'Khan' plays instead of Gul...!

It actually means quite a bit. It's a prep match and you will create momentum with a good win. Plus it's a seaming wicket and you handled it reasonably well. Anytime you win a warmup in such a dominant fashion in foreign conditions it bodes well. Then again, you're Pakistan - who knows which Pakistan will turn up? You could roll us for 150 and at the same time have us declaring at 4/600 :D

Well these days you can't be sure which Australia will turn up, they could be declaring at 600/4 or collapse for 150 ;)
