The Random Talk thread [Read ground rules in post #1]

Thinking about writing a travelogue about my recent trip to Hunza and the northern areas. I’ve been to so many places around the world but this was honestly my favourite trip. It’s the furthest north I’ve been in Pakistan. Drove from Islamabad. I’ll probably make a thread on pp with details and pics attached

Man, share the non personal pictures over here if possible please.

Say I went on a trip to Pakistan with my family and brought like 50k rupees with me. Is that enough to hang out, go places, and eat food and stuff? For like a couple of weeks.

Nope you’ll need at least 90-100k to properly enjoy the whole of Pakistan. If you’re not paying for travelling within the country or accommodation I think you’ll be fine with like 40k.

Naa just Karachi. And I'm not counting stuff like accommodation. Just only like cost of food, rikshaas, etc.

What Arham said, basically. If you won't have travelling costs and that doesn't include accommodation, etc., that should be OK.

Replayed Fire Red after 14 years, caught a Snorlax with my last Pokeball... needless to say, I still got it. :amir

Contemplating going for a buzzcut. I don't know if I will be able to pull off the look though. :azhar

Does Canada even have a serious military lol?

Yes, I know a couple of people who went in to get their tuition paid off. My lifestyle is already pretty much like the army's so I don't think I would have any problems if I joined but I'll be sticking to law enforcement.

Markhor

Was playing Metal Gear Solid 3 there and came across a random bit of info you probably already know.

Markhor in Persian apparently means snake eater.

Please tell me these bad *** looking goats actually eat snakes or I'm gonna be disappointed :))

Unfortunately, my friend passed away from cancer on Tuesday. She was such a lovely girl, always nice to me, would have been her 21st birthday at the end of this month.

I thought it'd be really crappy, but it seems like a decent family film.

But if they are gonna have Deadpool voice Pikachu, then I want the swearing as well. That'd be a hilarious movie. It'll be like Ted but with Pokemon.

The trailer looked good. Didn't expected to see such thing. I'll be waiting for the movie :)

Don't like the concept. Wish they did a live action remake of the anime (the start of the journey)

Just found out today that there is a city called Chongqing in China with population of 30 Million people and counting.

I can’t find the translation of a Pakistani song online. If I post it in the languages forum can someone translate it all for me. I’d really appreciate it. My Urdu is good but I still don’t get parts of it

Wish there were more threads on here that weren't about politics, or news. Sometimes I want to come to timepass and join a discussion about something.

What do you call a lonely banana

A kela.

There were many such jokes doing the rounds... in kindergarten. How does one bottle of milk greet another bottle of milk? What does your plate of peas say to you?

Somedays I post so much on PP, that when i go out with open sky i feel like just came out from lot of work lol.

It can get quite stressful. I know that feeling.

I also feel the same when I chat/post for too long and then go outside. I feel exhausted.

The flippancy inherent in my last post notwithstanding, I’m now intrigued by what the correct Urdu term for a helicopter is. Colloquially, it is simply the borrowed English helicopter, but the authorities (National Language Promotion Department, formerly Muqtadara Qaumi Zubaan) almost certainly have an actual term for it, I just don’t know what it is.

Until I find out, I can tell you what a refrigerator is called. It’s one of my favorite Urdu terms.

On my last night of my trip to London, didn't think I was going to find a really decent eaterie (I'm quite fussy when it comes to food.) Luckily found a steakhouse where the food was nice.

Finding a good steakhouse in one of the major world cities... who could imagine that!

I'm trying to think of a nickname for my haircut that's why. It looks like a helicopter blade.

Okay, so I wrote to a friend who is well-versed at this sort of thing, and while he can’t say for sure if the Muqtadara’s official translation is بالگرد, but that’s what he suspects it would be, since the authorities often follow the Farsi term, if one exists.

So there you have it: بالگرد

The بال in بالگرد is wing, not hair, just as Iqbal’s بالِ جبریل means Gabriel’s Wings, not Gabriel’s Hair, which makes sense because I doubt angels have hair. That said, بالگرد may be an apt name for your hairdo because بال in Urdu is hair instead of wing.

$9,000 a year to watch someone read off PowerPoint slides is a daylight robbery.

That's awesome. Thank you sir.

Such a good song. Aujla is the master singer and lyricist. Leagues above Sidhu.

It is a required course for all engineers in Canada.... however, I graduated 6 years ago so you are on your own buddy :najam

Are people able to just take in information (analyze) without aggressively reacting to it?

For example when sector is down and jobs are getting finished , are you able to just short stocks on sector make money instead of blaming the govn?
Basically are you ok to benefit monetarily from a tragedy occurring as it doesn’t concern you.( you are not the creator or supporter)

Similar to riots in a city will you be able to do that?

I feel when i was a teen i had this ability where I wasn’t triggered, over the years it has reduced..and i want to not react to any news i hear but make rational decisions based on the information..has anyone been able to do this?
