The Wrestling Discussion Thread

I just wish Shawn put his foot up H’s behind when he came back & went full Hogan during the RA era, but he didn’t want to be that guy anymore and his second run was going to be more about changing the perception of who he was among his peers.

As much influence the son-in-law had, Vince loved Shawn more, so it would have been extremely fascinating to see what an RA era would look like with Shawn being positioned in the prime spot as champion - opposed to being the guy doing his best to make his so called piece of crap friend, some of the shoots against him when he won the WHC were so below the belt that you knew it was just H who wanted to go there and that was his friend.

He dseserved a lenghty run. Should've held till Wrestlemania in my opinion.

People who think the current product is anywhere close to the Attitude Era/Early Ruthless Aggression Era need to give their head a wobble!

My most favorite Wrestling match of all time was the 6-man Hell in a Cell match among Rikishi, The Rock, Austin, HHH, Undertaker, and Kurt Angle. That was amazing.

I was rewatching this match with a friend on Netflix some months ago. It seems Rikishi's entire reason for being in this match was to take that bump off the cage into the dump truck :sarf2

Just joining this thread for the first time. What was your opinion on the TNA Impact debut on AMC? I heard it didn’t go very well.

He was hot off the "i did it for the rock" angle and was put in a feud with Taker right after his feud with Dwayne. And was the least memorable name in the match (who had spent all his time in mid card till then)

I forgot this was during Rikishi's molten hot heel run :kp

Jericho and Powerhouse Hobbs are two names on the wishlist for Royal Rumble.

But I really hope we get to see some surprise legends come out this time, which has almost completely stopped being the case anymore because of Triple H's mechanical and unimaginative booking. It feels like that element of surprise is completely gone, which used to be one of the best things about a Royal Rumble match.

Royal Rumble matches really started going downhill after the death of Pat Patterson. Because besides being the originator of that match concept, he was also really good at coming up with those sub-stories within the match. And then just when you thought they couldn't get any worse, they somehow did when H took over the book from Vince.

Can't say I have particularly high expectations from this year's event given what we have gotten in previous years. Does anyone even remember when the last good Royal Rumble match happened? Would have to be the 2020 one and that was 6 years ago!

Rikishi should have won the world title a few times. He was underrated.

@shaz619 can tell if he saw, I don't watch TNA. But I did hear too that it was poorly received

I didn’t watch it and the the consensus seems to be that they peaked with AJ’s appearance, I guess they are doing what they should have years ago, making you pay for their premium content but they are taking it too far with the booking of their regular shows

Ok but you do believe that a world champion doesn't need to look like this

God I miss the golden era of wrestling 😢

That’s literally from the time he was in the worst shape of his life & had a roid belly hanging out, he could never get in shape without injecting himself up the behind.

The current WWE Champion is in 10x better condition & he didn’t need illegal supplements to achieve that.

I feel this year because his hand will be forced due to the Saudis, it will be a lot better.

H’s booking even at its best is like C level for the territory days.

Can’t believe 2020 was 6 years ago lol That was a tremendous RR & excellent use of Lesnar in that match to get over a guy who should always be destined for true greatness & I hope they don’t fudge that now….

This is out of shape to you!?

Pump the brakes there bud. Let's not get ahead of ourselves :kp

Let's not forget his entire gimmick was shoving his giant a$$ in other wrestler's faces :sarf2

LOL!

I think he became a more serious contender after running over Austin. That was an opportunity for WWE to push him.

His mic skills were okay. He was a big guy. He could've been a world champion.

If someone like Miz can win world title, why not Rikishi? :inti

Are you trolling yourself? Do you seriously not see that roid belly hanging, or do you not know what a roid belly looks like?

That’s like the average palwan in some Indian pind, when they flex, these guys unload all over the river ganges

This lot from India like the churby version of H for obvious reasons - they want to bend 4/10 clearly

What I don;t get is why can't he just post one of his pictures from when he was pumping the juice and working out like when he made his big return back in 2002:afridi1

Because we got another Eugene in the thread, that or he wants to drink from the melons of that chubby H

Every time Gunther comes out and the crowd chants "you tapped out", its a reminder of what a brainless moron Triple H is as a booker. That single booking decision was so damaging to the company that its effects are still visible today, and will continue to be visible in the future aswell.

I mean think about everything Gunther has done in the past year - he regained the World title by beating the company mascot, beat Goldberg in his retirement match, made Cena tap out in his retirement match... you can count on one hand the number of times he has lost a match in 2025; and yet fans still remember that he tapped out to Jey Uso at WrestleMania.

If someone with any sense about how wrestling works was running this company Triple H would have been fired that very day.

Someone should show him Triple H v Ultimate Warrior from WrestleMania 12.

The unquestioned high-water mark of Triple H's in-ring greatness and world champion aura :sarf2

I believe it got 5 stars in the PakPassion Observer :vk2

These die hard TNA fans deserved better, these are the fans that stuck by the promotion through thick & thin, after that hot start from AJ, a poor episode really
Lol feel for the fans. Once they've seen AJ in the opening segment they know the show is just going to go downhill from there

Thing is despite h having not even a fraction of Gunther’s ability he would never let Vince book him the way he booked that match vs Jey..

Triple h deserved to get put through the table by Eugene

I was thinking more along the lines of being set on fire in one of those Inferno matches..

It’s fascinating that they didn’t really show us the behind the scenes footage of the think-tank deciding that should happen on the Unreal show from the POV of Gunther having to tap out.

All we got was that dungar saying ‘we wanna put a rocket on ya’ to Jey, well that rocket has come crashing down like a lost Indian drone

The rocket crashed… then rolled into a vat of acid… then got swallowed by a pit of quicksand. If that's what strapping a rocket to your back looks like then I wonder what the alternative looks like? :sarf2

Speaking of which, I'm morbidly fascinated to see the new season of WWE Unreal. That show has given so much quality meme content that will probably be even funnier a few years from now when we are seeing the after-effects of Triple H's booking decisions

would love to see guys like Batista, who are in the rumble for not just 30 seconds.

I had said it well before Mania that we don't need Jey in the position after winning Rumble but you thought WWE are trying to create new stars. The whole feud was sappy

One of a kind beast/freak of nature. This guy gave new meaning to the term deceptively athletic. You just don't see a guy of that size move like he moved, and do the things that he was able to do. Such a fantastic wrestler who never got the credit he deserved. Mike Awesome, ladies and gents...

Are you out of your mind? This is the second time you have attributed something to me that is completely false. I was against the Jey Uso push from the moment he won the Royal Rumble

Botchmania from Bunny, I”ll happily admit I was on board with it from the POV of giving new players a shot & I saw potential in Jey since he feuded with Reigns during Covid, I would never want him to tap Gunther though, for what it’s worth Jey had a better WHC reign than Seth & Priest, but since then he regressed massively & couldn’t deal with the pressure of a main-event spot, how about mid-card Jey Uso now? You were the only one dead against this guy getting pushed & I get that when there were much better options who will never get the rub of the green due to someones ego.

If am honest I barely paid attention to him until he took that check in 2005, and my mind was blown, I then had to go back & look for his work with ECW on DailyMotion lol Too old.

His rivalry with Masato Tanaka will live forever.

I’ve seen some clips of Unreal, not started it yet but just off that my blood is boiling, we going to be eating for a good few months of the 4/10 hatred boys @RedwoodOriginal @Suleiman

Greatest of all time vs Worst of all time across 2 different sports. One who worked his way up and the other who cheated and politicked his way up. Has a crossover like this been done before in sports ever?

Somebody in India would pay to see this 🤡🤡

I can’t believe this actually happened, I vaguely recall it, when things got dry for him, lets reunite DX & leach of Shawn one last time

And I said back then that I understood where you're coming from, but honestly speaking, I have never liked this guy barring the period when he was involved in the whole Bloodline saga. As we've said numerous times, his work is just lazy. Also, he has made zero effort to improve it since he got this big push which says alot. Midcard Jey Uso sounds about right... let's see if the heel turn they are building to can save him. My money is on no quite, simply because you can't put lipstick on a pig.

They are still building that heel turn?

🤡🤡🤡🤡/10

Been a while since any of us talked about it 🤣🤣🤣

That has made my day, thank you big nose.

My introduction to him was the match he had with Tanaka at ECW Heat Wave 1998, which I saw in a vacuum a few years ago not knowing much about him (I first saw the 2005 One Night Stand on a 240p DVD lol) and I was totally amazed by his athleticism and agility. As someone said in the comments section, you could pull out and watch any of his matches against Masato Tanaka and chances are its probably a classic. And so freaking brutal lol. Honestly some of the chair shots these guys took makes you wince a little bit knowing everything we know about brain trauma now, but goddamn are they great matches.

Alot of ECW fans used to hate him because he was another guy who took the paycheck and went to WCW (while he was World Champion :ROFLMAO:), until they worked out a deal at the last minute and had him drop the belt to Taz. Still I would say one of the more underrated wrestlers from the 90s. Didn't have the mic skills at all but with a good manager (probably not Heyman lol) he could have gotten over in the WWE. In the meantime, I'll be catching up/rewatching some of his greatest hits from ECW👆

Watch that match first bro - it was magic to say the least, the first 15 mins of the first episode of Unreal is like the cringe lord’s personal life which is even more boring than his gimmick
Bro, this is unreal - I was literally at the 15:26 mark of the first ep when I went what is this $hit?, and came here lol.

Although should we really be surprised that they are trying to humanize cringe lord knowing how much his papa adores him? After all, this is 4/10's vanity project

I did get a kick out of your comment though, :ROFLMAO: he really does look like he lives the most boring a$$ life

That’s funny because I stopped around the 16 min mark, need a full day to recover before continuing this garbage & we get to the bits I can really fume over.

You are completely right, first 15 min is H’s version of my ‘Sonah Sonah Puthar’ on loop,

But don’t forget, vanity project number 2 is there to in Lyra, she took up 90% of H’s brain power for a good 4 months.

The most interesting part of his life was being tackled by a wrestling fan, I mean, it’s kinda poetic, that ‘fan’ could have been any of us really.

Defo watch the Punk match though

Can Batista last more than 30 seconds though lol
Now that is a question. But if Goldberg can, Batista can as well as he is younger and a much more conventionally trained pro wrestler. Batista himself doesn't like to come back for cameos though.
