TV Shows I Recommend

Finished 'stranger things' and I absolutely loved it. It really does reference 80s classics like Goonies and Spielberg stuff etc. I also loved the fact they tied up most ends and didn't leave many cliff hangers at all for the next season. It's almost like a great 6 hour Spielberg sci fi movie.

Anybody watching the 'shannara chronicles' I started on it and don't mind it too much so far. It's like a LOTR lite with teenagers.

This weekend has been a total TV binge marathon so far.

Mr Robot is so overrated. Btw guys watch The Shield. If you havent youre missing out on one of the best things ever.

Scream: The TV Series

Link

Season 2 is out now few episodes in and it's been pretty good.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I believe that Breaking Bad is extremely overrated.

I don't think I can even call it a good show anymore. For the first four seasons, nothing happens at all. It is so slow paced and builds no anticipation for the next episode.

There are TV shows where you cannot wait for the next episode, but Breaking Bad isn't one of them.

When I was watching it recently, I was simply waiting for something to happen; some twist, rather than Walter and Jessie bickering like old married couples all the time, moving from one drug lord to another.

I was told that it gets amazing from season 3 onwards, but the only point where it became great for me was right at the end of the series when Hank finds out.

The last 2/3 seasons were quite incredible indeed, but overall, nothing more than a 'good' show for me and nowhere near the adulation and hype.

Yes the acting is great, but there are countless shows with good acting.

However, I would confess that perhaps it is me who has missed something, because how can so many people around the world consider it the king of TV shows and give 10/10?

Nonetheless as far as I am concerned, I simply don't get what the big deal is and I don't regret not watching it until this year.

Breaking Bad is overrated. Just like pretty much every other highly rated show or movie (like GOT, Wire, Sopranos, etc.). That's just how it goes when fans talk about the show. Everything is over the top and those comments stick out more than the "yeah, it's a good show" rating that normal tv viewers would give.

And of course, not to forget the fact that everyone has different tastes. Sometimes, it's just hard to understand what is so great about something that has been hyped a lot. Personally, I think Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are distinctly average movies (especially LOTR) but it seems like every man and his dog thinks they are some of the greatest films in history (and again, especially LOTR, which IMO is far inferior among the two).

Yes, definitely one of the best to be aired in recent time. Sadly, ended too early. :( :( :(

Done with POI. It turned out to be amazing overall. Yes, few average episodes here and there but overall an exceptional production. First season was not that good but it got better and better with time.

I have watched few top series including GOT, Wire, Sherlock Homes, True detective, Band of brothers, Breaking bad, House of cards but i did not find this series any less captivating than those top shows.

I just loved Ms Groves/Root played by Amy Acker. She was mesmerizing in parts. Great actress. Harold Finch played by Michael Emerson is my second favorite character.

Yes, you were right, even after 103 episodes it seems of very short duration.

"ABSOLUTELY"

Person of interest has the best closure i have seen so far. 24 hours have gone since i finished the 5th season but the dialogues and sentiment still echoes in my ears.

Re-watching Entourage from season 1.. Still brings smile to my face :)

Highly recommended to watch for happy hours..

Brooklyn nine-nine amazingly funny tv show ,like the fast humor a lot with witty one liners!

Currently watching Bloodline and hooked onto it!

I had this on my list for months, got halfway through the first episode then turned it off. Tried it again last week when I couldn't be bothered with anything else, and it's drawn me right in. It's a quality show, every episode gets better than the last. I'm really glad I gave it another go now, it's a grown up show. Recommended.

Dexter gets overrated because of interesting premise IMO.. I mean serial killer killing other serial killers is a pretty cool idea..

Otherwise show itself turns mediocre fairly quickly after couple of seasons

Well this is Webseries from TVF - a production compaby based in Mumbai of young entrepenurs and they primarily create web content - skits. comedies and web series.
This has over 6 million views on youtube and 9.4/10 on IMDB.

A must must watch I'd say

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwu1x8hfEIo&t=10s

My buddy had an Indian roommate who introduced us to TVF.

We watched TVF-Tripling and it started off really well. The first couple of episodes were hella interesting and funny. However, when they got to the end of the series we felt like they didn't know how to end it and it became boring and got dragged on.

I hear there are other interesting TVFs series out there too but haven't had the chance to watch them yet.

But Pitchers is just a different beast altogether. I'm looking forward to Bisht Please coming up next. and Pitchers 2 at then end of the year.

Another great one is Humorouly yours ! I'd say just as good as pitchers

Quantico, The Blacklist , The Shield, The Soparanos, Broadwalk Empire, Prison Break, Dexter, and Power.

Watch the anime please for the love of God, this looks crappy in comparison and the anime cannot be bettered by any version.

Its all there waiting for ya man, plus the episodes are shorter so easier to fit in, Trust me, nothing can do it justice aside from watching the original.

This.

The anime is one of the best I've seen, the show and movie won't/don't touch it.

shaz619 u have got to watch deathnote the anime, the netflix movie looks whitewashed , watch the first episode with patience and it will be worth it easily the most remarkable anime for me ever.

Under normal circumstances I won't necessarily watch NBC shows but I've done a marathon of Blindspot for the last 2 weeks until the lastest episode. The show isn't some ground breaking OTT TV show but neither is it poor - It's somewhere in the middle.

If you guys want to pass some time I'd say it's worth a shot, the action sequences are impressive and reminded me of Nikita (which I was a very avid fan off) until 2013.

Everything pales in comparison to the Anime version. I won't shower endless praise for the Anime since it has it's loop holes as well but at the end of the day you can at least say...It's a cartoon that I am watching :))

Once you've watched the anime you'd never watch any adaptation for Death again.

It is available in different languages I think am not sure which version I should watch? is there one in English to? I don't mind reading the subtitles if it come to it

I like watching Netflix "originals" but going by that trailer even I can tell it looks a bit rubbish despite not having watched the anime, will give that a go plus I don't think it's that long thank god! that's one of the things which puts me off their length, always like 10000000 episodes

Watch it in English,I have it on dvd, very well written anime.

English acting is fantastic man, give it a look you won't regret it :)

Also, most anime isn't that long actually. I've watched about 10 series now, most episode ever was FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood which was 64 episode (not enough lol)

Say on average a series has about 30-35 episodes.

Binge watched Line of Duty recently...fantastic show...if you like State of Play you will enjoy this...some elements of the Departed too...

I did think the first episode of the 4th season was a bit weak but hopefully that was a blip...the finale of season 3 was brilliant...

Also finally got to watching Person of Interest...another fantastic show...improves a lot after a rather conventional first season...

Luther suprisingly good watched 2 eps ,Idris Elba is a legend for me,his expressions and dialogue delivery are remarkable.

Donal Cozzie you finished watching Black Sails yet? what did you think!

Incredible show, so disappointed it has ended :(

Has anyone watch 13 reasons why (or something like that), the entire world seems to be going crazy about it!

I think JaDed started it recommended it to me a few days ago, maybe he could tell us a bit about it!

I heard it's a depressing show though, am not sure if I want that in my life right now :mv

Finished the show in 2 days its a well done , deals with bullying in high school and how people don't care enough, initially it could come across as "white" people problems but as it develops we realize the issue, its getting to much attention because of a massive "high school, hipster" population using the net it is very good but not 9/10.

IMO its an important show and in a way it talks about depression although not entirely.

Exactly my problem. I can't start a show because I will have to finish it as soon as possible because the suspense kills me. And given I have exams coming up soon, I'm going to leave this for the summer. Seems like an interesting story.

Haha ditto. ToOooOoOoOo many things to be sad about already. Like Hafeez getting a half century. :(

Anyway, there's a book for it too. I think I might read the book first and then watch the show!

If the premise is something you really like then 100% read the book first! always so much better, I still haven't watched Gone Girl yet because the book is supposed to be among the best in psychological thriller genre

Finished it in 3 days. Very depressing, but addictive. Feel for kids today in school as cellphones and social media was just picking up when I graduated high schoool.

Guerilla - Seen first episode, very good. Pinto was superb.
shaz619 Have you seen any?

I will have to give black sails a go next.

Will give that a go not seen it before, man BBC iplayer has really stepped it up in terms of quality and variety of their tv series. The Last Kingdom is back, can't remember if you started to watch it late in 2015 when I mentioned it

Yes I am currently watching it. Uhtred's character really grows on you, just like it seems to grow on different ladies every few episodes.

Watched 1066-Battle of Hastings, although its a documentary its show how the end of the Vikings in Britain came about.

:)) they sure do, also like how conflicted Alfred is being a man of god. Uhtred is clearly his best warrior but he can't seem to get past his background. I just hope Uhred's biwi does not die, for once can we not enjoy a happy love story? :( lol On BBC iplayer have strangely been enjoying Peter Kay's car share, it's just two standard people who work at a supermarket having a chat on the way to and from work but something so simple is still quiet entertaining and very funny at times as well

I love to read about and watch documentaries on that time period, which is why I suppose there is no show out there quiet like Vikings in terms of telling compelling stories whilst also providing us an education on the viking culture

Inside No.9

If you are into anthology stuff, then watch this. Dark, humourous & creepy.

Black Sails
Vikings
WWE Smackdown

Black Sails is boring, man!. I watched the whole first season and I literally fell asleep during a few episodes. The story moves at snail pace. I'd not recommend it unless someone wanna fall asleep watching a show.

Vikings, on the other hand, is one of the best shows of this decade. Seriously good show.

Am incredibly surprised! Black Sails and Vikings are like blood brothers but just slightly different personalities.

You should stick with Black Sails, even the first season of Vikings was not exactly spectacular but they planted the seeds for a beautiful narrative, you should stick with it. And I do agree, Vikings is one of the best TV shows ever and I prefer it to GOT.

Hey guys and girls, I have more free time during this summer and was wondering if anyone has seen The Wire and The Soprano, am looking for reviews from fellow PPers on which to watch. One or both?

I really loved Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, etc, is Sopranos like that? I'd rather not watch it if it's too family centred.

What makes Wire different than other crime shows? Does it have Breaking Bad level television?

Thanks a bunch

American Gods and Twin Peaks are best among new lot so far.

shaz619

Finally finished Lost, brilliant series! Although I dont know why they didn't mention Jacob's brothers name?

I'll give black sails a go now. :)

Shameless (American version)
GOT (Obviously)
Stranger things
Blacklist/Blacklist redemption
Bloodline (bit slow but give it a go)
Conviction (interesting first episode so I will carry on watching the rest)
Outlander (you’ll fall in love with Scotland)
This is Us
And there are many other quality TV, but it all depends on your taste!

Watched the wire and sopranons. I would recommend both.

I finally started watching Game of Thrones. On S2 rn.After this,I will start watching Narcos and Wire.

Currently I only watch Arrow and the Flash(along with GoT).I’m thinking I should stop watching The Flash as it is getting worse by the episode.Arrow is good.Season 5 was great, probably it’s beat season after the S4 which was bad.
shaz619,saw your previous posts,do you still watch Arrow/Flash?

I don't remember, need to re-watch it lol one hell of a series isn't it Khan, it was the GOT of it's era in terms of popularity especially and one of the greatest shows ever made.

You will love black sails especially because it's in the vein of our favourite show Vikings, season 5 will begin at the end of the month! it's so weird, it feels like yesterday we were talking about season 4 time goes so fast. Lets see if brother floki converts to Islam given his curiosity :))

I watched the first season of Flash and Arrow I stopped watching after 3 or 4 seasons I think, the last one I watched was the one with Rahs ul Gul in it. Both are okay shows but their format is not something I usually go for which is why Gotham is the only show in the same vein as those which I continue to watch, must also be because am a big fan of the batman universe. There's another show called The Gifted based on the X-Men Universe, the first couple of episodes I saw it was great plus the guy who made the X-Men movies Bryan is the director for it.

So right now Gotham and The Gifted are the only shows in a similar vein to Flash/Arrow which I watch, Arrow I just got fed up and Flash, I guess am just not that big a fan of the character although a lot of my friends seem to enjoy the show beyond season 1.

Vikings isn't the same after Ragnar. Watched the trailer and there's going to be a civil war among brothers

I have started The Gifted. Watched first episode was going to close it down then stopped and continued watching till the end. Now I want to see episode 2

Vikings isn't the same after Ragnar. Watched the trailer and there's going to be a civil war among brothers

The universe is so big that I have faith in the history channel to produce the goods, they've done so well in the aftermath of Ragnor during season 4 (And having read interviews from the show creators they stated that he will still be a part of the season to come in other ways). Besides the infighting amongst the brothers another talking point will be whether or not the great viking army can remain united to conquer the English. The producers are very big on keeping it all authentic and historians have praised their efforts, very unique show and never gets enough cred.

Here's a collab between 2pac and Ragnor to cheer up all the people who watched the all his angels episode :(

:))

shaz619 Caught up with season 5 of Vikings yet?

I've not got around to it, been watching Mr.Robot and Jean Claud Van Johnson (Starring Jean Claud Van Dam, hilarious TV series lmao and arguably his best work). Has season 5 been decent so far? Am still not over Ragnor :(

Ivor the Boneless has taken over brilliantly, a truly awesome character and so far he is making this season his own. Bjorn as mentioned at the end of season 4 is in the middle east and it's hillarious so far. The battle scenes so far have been brilliant, on par or even better then GOT. Floki is on a mad mission but I dont want spoil it and there is also a new character played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers who is a Christian Bishop warrior. Must watch.

Will be checking it out soon! Vikings I always tend to savour :afridi love the series a lot more then GOT. I heard Edge is also on the show! one of my favourite wrestlers, come to think of it he should fit in nicely in the universe. What's happening with Judith :yk left with no choice but to pursue halal relationships aha

I think Edge has made a very brief appearance and will be close to Floki, the role suits him. Judith is all over the place not knowing what to do but her and Athelstans son is now grown up, a bit of pansy but seems smarter than most of the English. I think Judith might do more haram and run off with a Vikings for something lol

I watched entertainment ki raat it was a good show.. Decent comedy and was overall fun.. I think it might be difficult for Kapil to make a comeback on colours if this show does well..

Anyone else watches it?

Has anyone here watched "The Crown"

I will be starting season 2 soon but the first season was quite good and well made.

My favorite character is the snarky and jilted Edward, the Duke of Windsor who gave up the crown to marry Wallis Simpson. He has the best lines.

Romper Stomper on BBC Iplayer. A gritty Aussie show getting its concept from the old Russel Crowe movie.

The far right and the anti-facists are enemies with Muslims as the target, police and media involved too. shaz619 a good watch, give it a try.

My work mates rate Mr Selfridge, Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders, Luther and Doctor Foster off top of my head of the british shows.
