[VIDEOS] Babar Azam vs Virat Kohli at the ICC World Cup 2023

Kohli has crossed 200 runs mark in the World Cup.

Babar Azam can still catch up with a big century vs Aussies which is very much possible now
 
Time for Babar to score a 80ish SR against Aus regardless of result. Babar as captain has different objective than Kohli, hopefully Babar will deliver
 
The tradition of the Pakistan player losing form when compared against Virat Kohli continues.

More like Wasim Akram vs Irfan Pathan. The entire nation was obsessed & hellbent on making Pathan the next Akram after conquering Pakistan in 04. That really confused the kid,clouded his mind & his career went down to drains. That & of course Chappell's experiments.
 
So far Gill seems to have performed better than Babar in this WC. Before comparing with Kohli he need to outperform Gill and then think about the "King".
 
What a 'great' World Cup 'King' Babar has had so far. Top contender for MOTS award.
 
Babar is the best. He didn't see the point of scoring runs today as the match was already lost, he doesn't believe in scoring soft runs and he proved the same today.
 
Not my ‘king’, never was and never will be.

His best ODI innings was 4 years ago vs NZ. Pretty poor for someone that’s ranked as number 1 in ODI’s.
 
This is some serious choking from Babar. He needs to turn things around deeper into this tournament.
 
my guess is pakistan wins today and Babar gains confidence from the win and bats well in the next 5 matches

Babar has missed out today on an absolute batting paradise. He would be kicking himself.
 
Babar can still turn it around but today must have dented his pride a little.
 
In Babar's defense, as bad his current run of form might be, it'd never plumb the depths of OP who has very predictably absconded from his own thread.

Read the first page of this thread where he is prancing around telling everyone who disagreed to ''cope harder''.

Here's hoping Babar grants him the opportunity to show-up in this thread @Bilal7
 
This is what happens to him when every team play their full strength side, unless bilaterals. And the same thing has been said by plenty of people till now.
 
Babar has time on his side but honestly even Gill doesn’t show as much promise as Sachin and Kohli did at the same age.
 
When you are a fanboy you lose sight of reality and stop being practical. Just for the heck you double down on your hype machine for every criticism.
 
His biggest mistake today was before a single ball was bowled.
After the toss, Cummins must have been laughing all the way back to the dressing room telling his team of the good news that they have been gifted the first go on this batter's paradise.

Mehhh around 350 was chase(able). Poor bowling/fielding resulted in extra runs. Still it was not impossible. Babar got exposed.

No. It was the correct decision and 360 can be chased easily in Chinnaswamy stadium with kind of start openers gave to Pak.

Imam and Abdullah weren't dealing in sixes like Marsh-Warner but they set the platform well for Babar-Riz and remaining batsman to cross the line.

But your middle order failed again. Just check the final score. A 30 ball fifty contribution from Babar or middle order could've won the match for Pak.

A lot of middle orders would fail with the mountain of runs before them. This total or higher has only been chased successfully twice in the entire history of ODI cricket. Scoreboard pressure counts for a lot, and on a ground where it sits up nicely, with a lightning outfield and fisher price boundaries we should have been chomping at the bit to make runs first.

We should have been exerting a similar pressure on the Aussies instead. Yes, we would have most likely set a lower target with their higher bowling quality, but at least you wouldn't have to face them knowing you have to go at 7.5 right from the off.

Not really. Biggest mistake was conceding 367. Australia was insipid in the last 8 overs. made only 48. They were heading towards 420 easily.
 
I think Pakistan did ok with their batting, though wished somebody had stepped up in the middle order and scored big.

The issue was the bowling and the fielding. Haris Rauf in particular was horrible and the spinners were as usual garbage.

They should have easily reached 390-410.

And Pakistan would be chasing leather all day.

The only reason people believed (even though it was 90-10 in favour of Australia) was because instead of 390-410 they were left at 370.

However, chasing 370 is NEVER on if your two openers bat at 6 per over while RRR goes to 8.5 per over with 30 overs to play.

Pakistan were never really gonna get close.

It was only an illusion that some fans got because of the poor end to Australian innings.

Starc's unusually off day gave Pakistan a sniff. But Zampa and Hazlewood snuffed out any threat with wickets and containment
 
Babar can try opening the innings. He doesn't have big hitting game to come in the middle overs and pick up the acceleration. Atleast inside power play he can score some runs
 
Babar has really gone missing in a big way.
Out of professional pride he really needs atleast 2 inns of note against big teams to turn his WC around.

He has been left in the dust by the likes of Rachin and Daryl Mitchell.

I suppose there is some solace in the fact that Root and Smith have also had miserable campaigns so far but then they are at the tail end of their careers and have both played crucial part in a winning campaign.
