Not sure if there is already a thread exists but seems to be a very impressive lad. I rate him more than Ravi Jadeja and has all the potential to be a good all rounder.
 
Will be bowling shortly...so lets see how it goes. Massive dew mind you..but against WI hacks so it evens out.
 
I think he chucks 10% of his delivery. The one that bounces higherand the quicker one

More reason to keep watch to see if he chucks. He plays for BCCI mind you and already in plans for WC. So BCCI cannot ignore him like Ojhi and Bhajj. Hmmm some interesting moments coming up.
 
One of the top 2 IPL finds along with Kuldeep Yadav. He is good with the bat too I believe.
 
hes good in IPL,but Jaddu can do what he does anyway in ODIs.

not sure of his batting too.Kuldeep should have played
 
Jadeja - 8 overs, 70 runs, 2 wickets.
Patel - 9 overs, 17 runs, 2 wickets.

What a debut. Wet conditions make his spell even more outstanding. :14:

I am not watching the match, but not even death bowling material? Got hit for just 1 boundary of the 60 balls he bowled. Must be good at keeping runs down atleast.

spinners are never good death bowling material. Having said that, he did bowl some good Yorkers. Didn't allow the batsmen to get under his deliveries..but I was disappointed that he didn't even turn the ball as much as jadeja..
 
Akshar was not flighting the ball which Jaddu was doing.

Jaddu got destroyed for flighting the ball. It works in Tests. But in ODI's you have to smart considering the ground was pitifully small.

The 2 wickets Akshar got looked lucky wickets. But he kept it tight and did not let the batsmen get underneath his deliveries. Pretty decent effort.
 
He looks like he chucks his quicker ball - well thats how it looked in the recent Champions League.
 
He completely outbowled Jaddu by a mile today.

I know its just a game but he was able to bowl the perfect length today.

He either bowls perfect good length deliveries (which batsmen find it hard to play) or bowls full deliveries which batsmen find hard to get under.

Brilliant bowling.

Has to watch his action but very good stuff.

The problem is that if he loses form (which every cricketer would at some stage), he has no spin to fall back on so he may get destroyed. That's an issue but as of now, its great that we are trying him out.

Bowled wlel on debut onm a very flat pitch with short boundaries but not entirely convinced with his action.
 
So? a lot of spinners has a good debut then once batsman do their homework on them the new bowler will find it hard at this level. Is he the next Herath or something? will he average less than 25 or something? just another overhyped Indian spinner.

It was not his debut.His debut was back in June against Bangladesh
 
The kind of player dhoni loves. Tight bowling + decent batting + good fielding. Will go a long way.
 
Nothing special. Just another darter who bowls quickly into the wicket. Has a good temperament but won't do anything remarkable. Seems like a hard bowler to get on top of.

Good enough for ODI cricket. In tests wont make the cut though.
 
Yadav will be best of the lot. Will play in all formats.

I just hope what Malik did to him won't get him flustered every time. I hope he gets over that. It will be tough to get over such a beating but I think if he does, he will be a very good find for Indian cricket.

There is a reason why talented players are not the best players.

Kuldeep and all are not even tested in a big way.

When you break into the international scene, no one knows you. Its hard to plan for you.

A few years down the line, things become far more harder. Every team has a specific plan for you.

I agree Axaar has been better than Jaddu and Ashwin but don't make the mistake of going by a small sample set to make sweeping statements.

We all saw what happened to Mishra in WC t20 2014.

Was a mere T20 match and I hope Kuldeep isn't as mentally fragile as some of the Pakistan batsmen :nasir

If he can't handle the pressure, he's not good enough at this level and should still work on his game.

We know your love for Ashwin but sorry to say he is rubbish. The only reason he is in the team is due to CSK connection.
There are many deserving spinners available in India.

Even if he is a darter, I am fine with it. When done effectively, darting is a very useful art.

Indian bowlers sadly are mentally weak. All of them. Mishra in WC t20 14 was the biggest example. That was a really funny day in my time watching cricket.

Mishra outbowled Pakistani rockstar bowlers in T20 WC but that doesn't mean he was better

I enjoyed those weak bowlers suffocating so called awesome Pak lineup in WC at Mohali and then in Champions trophy 2013.

That ain't true.

Bhuvi and Ashwin are mentally strong.

Zaheer was brilliant mentally but sadly he is over for us now. :(

Mishra is a mental midget I agree. Most skilled but most handicapped mental aspect wise.

Axar is brilliant mentally from what I have seen of him but its early days.

Sehwag and Gambo were the BIGGEST weaklinks.

They got replaced by Rohit (opener slot) and Dhawan who scored the bulk of the runs in CT2013. Others didn't even have to do much.

So all in all....thank you.

I was supporting Pakistan (especially Junaid Khan) when Sehwag and Gambhir were batting. After they got out, I supported India.

Rohit also played. Rahane played last ODI. Raina played all games also.

And also, I know what u mean. Its how I support opposition when Sohail Tanvir is bowling.

Stop this non sense. Ashwin struggled for awhile. But he delivers when he needs to. Not all the time but most of the time when he needs to. Who are you going to repalce Aswhin with ? Mishra ?
 
Akshar looks mentally stronger than Kuldeep. Akshar might get hammered away from Sub continent though.

Akhsar Patel and Karn Sharma will be my 2 spinner in WC, if India have to play with 2 spinner that is.

Else only Akhsar + 3 seamers.

Not sure how long would we have to bear with this Ashwin nonsense. He cannot pause anymore because of ICC directions. Once he is hit for a boundary, he immediately bowls shorter and quicker and a class bat like Mahela made him look like a school boy in the last game. Every team has sorted him out and his carrom ball is not so special anymore.

I would rather gamble with a rookie like Kuldeep or Karn and persist with Axar. Alas, that would not happen. I would love to be proved wrong and eat humble pie if Ashwin delivers. He (and Jaddu) have been consistently outbowled by Axar in this series.
 
Nothing against Ashwin but you play your inform players in the XI. Bhajji was India's leading spinner in 2011 WC but a rookee Ashwin then was bowling much better. Immidiately after the world cup Bhajji was dropped for Ashwin because the later outperformed him.

Keep a hand on your chest and tell honestly, didn't Akhsar Patel outperformed both Ashwin & Jaddu by huge margin? If they had tried a rookee Ashwin back in 2011 why hesitant to do the same with Patel?
 
Patel indeed has done very well in last 2-3 games,but its too less to make conclusions and he has novelty factor going for him too.

If he performs in Aus tri series then yes he'll be contender for place in WC

Jaddu is wayyy too predictable now. But is undroppable becoz of the all rounders tag.
Atleast wait till series is over to claim axar as a fix for wc.
Ashwin actually bowled well in t20wc when there was some turn but on flat tracks he too is a liability.
Would have loved to see karn bowl.

karn sharma's domestic stats doesn't look too impressive. Can't expect him to perform at international stages when he hasn't done it at domestic level.
 
His bowling is pretty boring to watch but he's having success with it so far in his international career.

He bowls regularly in death overs under Dhoni.So I think hes pretty good mentally

atleast better than Mishra in that regard.
 
I don't see anything special, but he seems like he bowls in the right area and picks up wickets which matters. No Doosra, no 2 feet turn. Just minor, well disguised variations and he is in.

He is tall so gets bounce and varies his pace.

He is like an offie style Kumble with even lesser turn.
