Virat Kohli - The Mega Discussion

He knows more about his own batting strengths at such a young age it's scarily amazing. It takes most batsmen well in to their 30's to figure that out.

He's batting like Terminator right now. Completely in zone and has answer to every delivery.

He was OUT, that Kulkarni gave him life and LSRK said NO SOUND, cheaters. Very fine player but he clearly edged one to Watson.

While chasing, Kohli literally becomes a beast. His record while chasing is actually becoming scary.

Kohli: Get me in your team and then..

and then they will fear you! :kohli

Once again today proved what a class ODI batsmen and could go down as one of the greatest of all time when his career ends.

Sensational batting by Kohli. All genuine shots and no slogging.

He is a great. The only reason why we won the series in India was because of Junaid owning him. If you don't get him early he's unstoppable.

Those were the most ideal conditions, you dont get them even in England. Even Bhuvi Kumar was being daddy back then.

good innings, conditions were extremly suitable for batting. wonder he would be able to display such talent in tough conditions or against
better bowlers someday?

So which of his chasing 100s are best..

180 against Pakistan in Bangladesh.
133* against Sril lanka in Australia.
OR
Today's 100 against Australia in India.

For me that 133* against Sri Lanka was best as we chased 320 runs in 37th over only.:D

133 against Lanka was virtually gold. Hundreds against Pak and Aus both are tied for 2nd place

Yup, the one where he demolished Mallinga was the ultimate assault!

Wow wow wow what a brutal knock and we are so lucky to witness it. Cricket needs special batsman like him.

That was an absolute road to bat on though. PAK hardly ever get to play on such wickets. But Kohli is superb.

Most compact ODI player of all time?

With all due respect, Kohli seems to be an evolved version of Sachin Tendulkar as an ODI player and that is an amazing thing because its Tendulkar who was the most compact ODI batsman of them all. I think Kohli is a superior version for limited overs cricket at least! Will he be able to keep his head down and achieve everything Tendulkar did? Lets see but he's a bloody good player.

This guys thirst for runs is second to none, he seems to score a century every third game these days.

He will surpass Sachins ODI run tally :kohli

Kohli has Tendulkar's shots, Tendulkar's control, Tendulkar's aggression. But his reflexes seem sharper that helps him convert more opportunities into 4s and 6s compared to Sachin. Also mentally, Kohli seems to be ahead.

Tendu was more adaptive though, while Kohli got owned by Junaid in unreal cold and swinging conditions in India, Tendulkar would have adapted to take on Junaid and take him to cleaners like he did in Belfast against South Africans in 2007.

Shots - tie
reflexes - kohli
adaptiveness - tendulkar
hunger - tie

Anything short of 40 international ODI centuries will be considered a disappointment for him, the way his career is going.

I just hope he is not a bottler in World Cups or tournament finals :inzi

In terms of batsmenship Tendulkar will always be king in ODI's.

But ability to score runs and win games Kohli is the guy, it's a shame he probably won't surpass Tendulkar because of something that's out his hands (quality of bowlers - Sachin faced greats and played exceptionally well).

He's pretty much replaced Sachin in ODIs atleast.

Still Junaid's bunny though!

Wow one of the best Indian FTB in recent times scores yet another 100.
Kohli now averages 87 in successful run chases in ODI. He is beast while chasing runs.
Now he stands 13th in the list of batsmen with most 100 in ODI http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/records/282935.html

Jesus Christ....he is just 25 years old......has 200% chance of toppling Ponting who has 30 centuries but that's not an easy task.
I am sure Kohli will do well in Tests too as he has got good temperament and awesome work ethic.

Once I posted a thread on whether Kohli can score a 200 in ODI against Pakistan team or any other team but Sadly that thread was deleted as most of the PPers thought it was joke of a thread. I am sure he might be able to achieve that feat too in the future in ODI.

unbelievable .. :farhat

Giving competition to Dhoni as the best ODI batsman currently.

Dhoni is a quality finisher but by no means even in the top 3 ODI batsman currently (Amla, ABDV, Kohli)

Kohli is something special. I hope Bangladesh import's KOHLI :D That wont ever happen though
