England 150-4, in the 60 over
Pietersen 75*

and that's the 2000 up, steady effort

West indies need to get rid of KP. Whilst this wicket looks good for batting, there is some pace and bounce for seamers. I think England will be happy if they get 300+ here..

Current partnership 69 runs, 21.3 overs, RR: 3.20 (Flintoff 15, Pietersen 45)

This KP is some player. Looks set for another hundred. Has 15 centuries already in 45 tests. Has great 50 to 100 conversion rate, he has only 11 50s

Eng 163-4 after 64 overs

Have to say Benns bowled well and has got some turn and bounce out of wicket on day 1.

Flintoffs been pretty restrained so far.

KP gone! live by the sword and die by it!

One big shot to many Top edge and gone for 97!

180/5

hahahahahahahahahahahaha

yyeeeessssss!!!!!!

pieterson has no brain...thank god he defected to england!

Game back in W.I hands as it look like KP was going to swing it litterally england way.

Prior in and off the mark.

Benns 1st 26 overs cost just 38 runs, the next one cost 18 but got a wicket!

Benny has bowled 28 overs non stop. He did get lunch and tea break in middle. He hasn't been taken off yet

I have been impressed by this spinner Benn. After a long time the West Indians have found a spinner who turns the ball considerably and he has good variations too. He bowled a ripper of an arm ball to KP and has the ability to fire a quicker one without too much change in action. Impressive stuff.

Brilliant innings from Pietersen on a pitch and a day where the rest of his team looked mediocre.

The difference in class between him and his teammates is frankly staggering. And the sad fact that he isn't even in England not only makes it embarrassing for England, but ridiculously hilarious for the rest of us.

Ah England.

WI don't have another spinner so they've made Benny here bowl 30 consecutive overs here.

Oi leave off, how dare you! We have many world class players who would easily walk into any team in the world! Hell i can name you so many world class English players..............Owais Shah, Kevin Pietersen (unfortunately)........................................................................................................................that guy, whats his name.........................................erm i'm being called downstairs, you're very lucky or else i would have named those magnificent test players who win test matches for England! :P

202/5 btw

Sorry but all i have to say is that Pieterson is boring.

England 202/5

W.I over-rate has been brilliant and should be applauded!

England 221/5

7 overs to go and england fighting back with a solid partnership.

Might be honours even for the day

Flintoff showing a different side to his game today lost of graft!

Run rate of 2.7 for the day.

In the Caribbean.

Against a bunch of bowlers who average about 40 runs per wicket.

stumps - England 236/5

Honours even. England will be looking to get 400 here.

I think west indies need to have a go with new ball tmoz and try to get england out for under 320!

Good knock from Kevinder, if not for him the Poms would be in a bit of a hole.

Well my sleeping habits are going to be wrecked over the next month, tough day of test cricket. Not the best pitch and a lush slow outfield gives England the edge. 300 on this pitch/outfield is around 450 on normal one. The last partnership really hurt us, once pieterson was dismissed that was our chance to move forward. Still anyone's game but we need to wrap it up before lunch tomorrow, hopefully the pitch and outfield will improve by tomorrow. What is heartening though is that we believe we can match it with England, we believe we are as good, and that's been have the battle for the WI of late.

Freddie falls to Powell, no addition to overnight score.

England 241 for 6

Broad out

95.3 Taylor to Broad, OUT, whoops, there goes another one, and an unfulfilled Broad innings comes to an end. Full length, probing off stump and demanding a stroke, Broad tried to drive out of trouble but instead shovelled a fat edge to gully
SCJ Broad c Benn b Taylor 4 (18b 0x4 0x6) SR: 22.22

England 269/7 (99.0 ov)

104.3 Benn to Prior, OUT, great catch by Benn! Prior lost patience, skipping down the pitch and attempting to smack him over the top but he couldn't get the elevation. The ball shot to Benn's left, at midriff-height, and he snaffled it smartly and comfortably with two hands
MJ Prior c & b Benn 64 (109b 7x4 0x6) SR: 58.71

England 290/8 (106 ov)

England 304/8

I think 350 would be very good total here!

ust tuned in - how's the pitchg playing?

Is Mr Benn bowling like he did yesterday?

307-8

400 would be perfect. 300 below par. 350 acceptable

Really depends on how Windies do on this pitch

Pitch has been even paced with some good bounce and pace. Outfield is quick. Looks like pitch will turn alot more later.

Harmison goes LBW!

313-9

HAHA!!! Harmison calls for a referral!!

Looked out to me

Monty Singh is OUT! LBW

Referral

But he is Plumb for me

England 318 all out

I think they'll be disappointed with that

Gayles already power drilled freddie into stands.

8/0

Huge sixxxx!

W.I 38/1

Gayle 25* Hes hit two huge sixes already!

Sarwan gets given LBW to Harmison, only to have the decision reversed via referral. LOL

End of over 50 (1 run) - West Indies 156/1

RR Sarwan 71* (168b 8x4) RJ Sidebottom 7-1-10-0
CH Gayle 70* (110b 3x4 3x6) A Flintoff 9-3-22-1

WI 1/160 at stumps, 158 runs behind.

Yesterday not so good for England, today worse. Bit of a reality check.

Gutted I missed the days play, will catch the replay tonight. Looks a great day for the WI, now we have to drive home the advantage. No use dominating day 2, then crumbling on day 3. Here's hoping.

I hope west indies can bat all day and get up to 400+ and then put even more pressure on England. Gayle seems to be showing more mature and responsability since been made skipper.

The Windies have had by far the better of the game so far. England look to have missed a trick by only playing one spinner.

I'm a bit worried about England. I genuinely believe that individually we probably have better players than we did if not during the Ashes in 2005, certainly the years leading up to it. The problem is that for all that time we were punching above our weight as a team under Fletcher and the captaincy of Hussain then Vaughan. That's just not happening anymore, and in fact the reverse is now probably true.

We need a new coach quickly, and they're going to have to wield the axe and bring in some new faces to break up the stale, underachieving clique, and get England playing as a team again.

Now that I've said that, watch our bowlers put a scythe though the Windies, bowl them out for 250, and notch up a lead of 350 by stumps!

I hope we get a fulls days batting from chris gayle :)

England building pressure here with a few maiden overs...

england are suffering because of teh cuptann nudge clique!!...drop the nudger and youll start winning again!!

Sarwan playing in his 75th match gets 4999 test runs.
Sarwan 90(218) - Gayle 85 (162) - jori 174 runs long
Wii 192-1 after 67 overs - trail by 126 runs

67.4 Flintoff to Gayle, no run, down the leg-side and that's a strangle! Tony Hill puts his finger up as Prior throws the ball in the air, but Gayle is not amused. It's gone to another referral, and this is a tough one for the third umpire. He can't use Hotspot, so he has only a very sketchy replay that could be either bat or buttock ... The benefit of the doubt ought to go to the batsman, but seeing as he's already been given out, who knows what they'll concoct here ... not out is the call!

and two balls earlier

Well, that was utterly puzzling. England appealed, umpire turned it down, England called for the review, then decided against it. Or something. It was the right thing to do in the end

1 scoring shot in 5 overs

Good bowling from England, but they've really got to get something tangible out of this passage of play.

England arent very good when it comes to the referral system - infact they adapt very very slowly to changes in playing rules/laws/conditions & innovation in general

last time we toured, pretty much the same WI side was 100-0 in the first innings of the second test, and an hour later they were 110-4. Add a couple wickets to this score and its pretty even IMO, given that they're batting last. And surely surely after such a good hour's bowling, we will get a couple of deserved wickets soon. Good game in the making for sure.
