Dearly looking forward to today's play. The pitch had a lot of spin yesterday. Will be interesting to see how Indians handle Chase and Bishoo here. I'm hoping for Rahul's double today ;-)

Ashwin has 3 innings to take 12 wickets and break the record for fastest 200 wickets

If you are a West Indies fan, look away. A bright and sunny morning. No help from overheads for their bowlers. The pitch is still fresh, but not likely to be nearly as testing on the first morning. The best batting day for the Test, according to local man Jeff Dujon.

Welcome to day two of the Jamaica Test :murali

Sad to see Viv getting humiliated by two nobodies of cricket world (Sanju Manju and Ajju Jaddu) on a consistent basis. They're repeatedly insulting West Indies side.. Hope Viv puts them in their place...

And how will he do that?

Holder's not good enough to be playing as a bowler. Gabriel needs a partner from the other end and Alzarri would've done the job.

Damm KL keeps impressing, gonna be difficult to drop him if he gets a big score here.

Expect Pujara to get out now.. he's done all the hard work without scoring any runs. Now he will get out..

Not watching the game but talking from an Indian perspective.

Reading the comments it looks like Gabriel is bowling very well.

Pujara need to play few strokes. Strike rate of 23 is not good in modern day test cricket.

Guys, I came to a mall to eat dinner tonight about an hour ago. I remember seeing Pujara on 18 on the tv at the food court when I entered. Still seems to be on 18 after finishing my meal.

Has Pujara not scored a single run in the meantime or is my memory deceiving me?

Yes.. 0 it is. Impeccable defense :P

He is on 18 off 84

I'm a huge fan of the guy but Pujara averages only 31 in the last 3 years. Does he make this team on merit? I'm not so sure.

Love Pujara. He has sapped WI's energy this morning.

He may also have sapped my energy too!

Snooze fest going on.

I feel sad for the great man Viv.
Actually I also felt bad. But then thought about how he mauled us over the years and whether any West indians felt sorry for us? In fact when I see guys like Michael holding, the feeling of sorry dies down quickly

Haha...lol.

Whenever any great team reduces to a mess, you feel sorry.

Super great team - Hatred mixed with respect
Great team - Respect with a tinge of hatred
Better team - No hatred or respect...slight appreciation
Same level - No hatred, respect or appreciation
Inferior team - Mockery
Super inferior team - Sadness

Trust me. I sincerely feel sorry for Viv, when I hear him. But I remember in an interview by Michael holding , when he was asked a question about whether he was sorry about the intimidating bowling he was known for and his reply was "Did Sunil Gavaskar ever feel sorry for his hundreds against us?"

Yes, the great team has now reduced to shambles, but it is not something that has happened overnight. So I kinda feel that instead of being apologetic for this WI team or it's ex players, we should enjoy this rare spell of consistent ruthlessness displayed by India.

Pujara is not this slow a player. When he is in form, he scores briskly at 70 S/R even in Test cricket.

Here, he is trying to save his place in the team. Going into a shell and finally throws it away as usual. Hopefully he scores a big one here.

I am enjoying the ruthless cricket under Virat. And am annoyed that the Bangalore test was rained out, otherwise we would be looking at an 8th test match win in a row.

And I am hoping Virat is thinking the same. Keep dominating and winning, let's break those records. Let's beat WI 4-0, England 4-0, Australia 4-0, get that series win in Oz.

If Bishoo can get his line right, he will pick up a lot of wickets. India will need to attack someone and he could end up being the beneficiary of the discipline shown by Windies this morning.

We can both enjoy ruthless performance by Indians and feel sorry for WI hacks.

benny: "Too much noise is made about Pujara's strike rate, not realizing the fact that Windies are bowling that sort of line. Holder bowls at 5th stemp and Pujara lets it go. Viv on commentary quipped a lesser batsman would have poked at it. Definitely it will get easier in the following sessions. People don't know how to value the time spent at crease."

Another counter view?

Rahul has 3 hundreds in his 11 test innings. 8 of his other innings have resulted in 38 runs. Is he a freak or what?

As long as he does not get bogged down and get out. He has had a couple of close calls in the last couple of overs.

As long as he gets a big score it shouldn't matter too much. But if you lose some quick wickets now than his innings looks a little strange as he wasn't scoring very freely of a part time bowler. Honestly he should have been a little more positive vs Chase. The quicker bowlers bowled some good stuff at him.

Should work on his strike rotation because better teams could take advantage of such a slow scoring rate. Bowling at the same batsmen for a long period can give bowlers confidence and belief to find a way to dimiss him.

But you have to respect his concentration and how determined he is.

Yeah...I guess.

Pujara anyways hasn't been like his usual self for years.

He isnt looking confident at all. See his batting against spinners, looks to be having restricted movenent, isnt sure of goibg forward or back. Happens far too iften with him, goes into a shell then gets a good delivery and is out in 20s 30s after playing over 100 deliveries and battling out the tough periods

Pujara putting on a spirited display here. Loving every bit of his innings.. way to go!

Gavaskar was saying that if pujara doesn't get a big score here,he may be in danger of being dropped from next test

The thing with Pujara is that he will always guarantee a 100 ball innings regardless of the track, be it a flat one or a green seamer or a rank turner. More like 25 (100) type of innings.

Such innings will be invaluable on green tracks, but he will become a liability on flat tracks.

Gavaskar and Manjrekar. What a pathetic combo

Word mate!

I wanted to turn off the volume back then. But the snooze fest that was going onscreen, I knew that it would have looked like a phoren arthouse movie being played if I had removed the vocals as well.

The Indians, if hey could, would bat until an hour before the close of play Tomorrow and then declare !!! Finish the match before the close of play on tthe 4th day without batting again !!!

Why are you copy pasting SIF?

That is the issue with him these days.

He used to block in 2012-13 but he filled you with confidence.

I do hope he gets the runs cos even a weak Pujara is very very very imp for India from a stability point of view.

That's what happens when you are unfairly dropped consistently. He's obviously playing for himself.
