The problem with films such as City of God is that they tend to get overblown by film buffs so much so that one always feels a wee bit underwhelmed in the end.
Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic piece of cinema with wonderful acting from pretty much all the leads(and a fantastic ending btw) but sometimes the constant praise from IMDb users(hailing it as one of the best ever) could prove to be counterproductive in the end as I found out after watching it.
Same with bollywood. Remember a user posting a thread on here calling Andhadhun as India's version of Inception. Yeah right lol. I mean it's a decently made film, excellent for a casual timepass viewing coupled with some good acting from Tabu but labelling it as a cinematic masterpiece just because the director decided to play around with story a bit is precisely I don't trust user's reviews much these days.
And DeadBall stop being melodramatic. I know you are a secret bolly lover yourself and by Bombay Cinema standards it was definitely an entertaining one. Loopholes were aplenty I agree but then again people are often advised to leave their brains aside before starting a Hindi film something you should have known already.
