Actually ended up seeing Kung Fu Panda which was pretty good in the end. Quite amusing at times. Heard Zohan was very crap, which was expected really

guys can you recommend comedy movies.. Real comic absurd ones.. One that'll make me LMFAO. Have already watched Scary Movies, The American Pie and Leslie Nelson, Rush Hour (all) ones.

watch "Road Trip" & "The Onion Movie".

guys can you recommend comedy movies...
There is something about Mary, Dumb and Dumber (dumb movie :) but the first one not the second dumberer one), Birdcage, Meet the Parents, I'm gonna git you sucka, Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (another dumb one), History of the World: Part I, Grosse Pointe Blank (not really funny but probably comedy drama), Parenthood

I saw the Hulk last week. I liked it, although they could've built up the story a bit more. But A LOT of action, which was great. I'd recommend it to most people.

was gonna watch hulk, but ended up with zohan. it was pretty good. not that bad as people say. i only recomend someone to watch it if they got nothing else to do.

A few months ago a few of us were at dinner and were talking about seeing Rambo the next day. A little later we hear my cousins gf say 'whos Rambo'. The rest of us were left flabergasted

I was worried I might get dragged along to Zohan or Get Smart this weekend but luckily that doesnt seem to be the case

I hear get smart is really good, better than it looks in the promos. I have to wait till it comes out on dvd.

Guys please recommend a few comedy movies.. Absolutely hilarious types.. Crazy ones..

apocalypto

enjoyed the first viewing a bout 6 months ago much more

Tell us your comedic taste. What films have you previously found funny?

IMD Walrus said:
Hindi? Try the first Hera Pheri, Bheja Fry and Khosla ka Ghosla.

Nah absolutely hate Indian movies.. Haven't seen them for atleast 10 years now..

Someday i'd like movies like scary movies, Naked Gun/ American Pie stuff funny, some other day i would go for movies like Mama's boy etc etc... However atm i found want freaking crazy movies Leslie Nelson types.. One that makes you ROFL..

One comedy that I watched recently was Semi-Pro and it really wasn't very funny at all IMO. I'm usually bursting out laughing during comedy movies, but I can't remember really laughing during this one at all.

good comedy movies:
A fish called Wanda
There's something about Mary
Birdcage
Parenthood
Spaceballs
Austin Powers
My Cousin Vinny
Borat

stupid comedy movies:
I'm gonna git you sucka
Don't be a menace to South Central while drinking your juice on the street
Beerfest
Dumb & Dumber
Zoolander
Hot Shots
Harold & Kumar go to White Castle
Borat (can be considered good and stupid)

Great shout with My Cousin Vinny, one of my favouritest movies of any genre of all time \o/

Spaceballs is greats, I'm gonna git you sucka is awesome, Harold and Kumar is really good and Borat is just a pile of wank.

Oh and I saw a preview screening of Hancock on Wednesday.

First half good, second half total rubbish.

No need to say any more really.

Forget movies, give the TV show It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia a look.

Yeah, Id agree with that too. Expected it to be much better

Jaane Tu ya Jaane Na. Not bad if you're into that sort of thing, you know, the light romantic comedy.

I'll still check it out today.. concept of a homeless drunkard super hero sounds totally offbeat and cool :batman:

Exactly, idea has potential and the first half is interesting but then halfway through it abandons the whole idea of redemption in the eyes of the public and slips into dull, generic big budget superhero/love story nonsense.

Such a waste.

Watched Rambo. Not bad. Just OKay. He looked heavy and not bad for for a 60 year old man but he had no gray hair. He didn't show his body even his upper arm was covered. He probably killed 228 people but was expecting more in terms of twists like him getting captured or first attack fails and he comes back. Something was missing

If you liked this and scream??? then watch "Don't be a menace to South Central". It is by people who made scream (two Wayans bothers acting and Keenan probably directing). It is a spoof of Boyz in the Hood, which is a very good hood/gangsta movie
They also did White Chicks which is okay

Aamir is excellent along the lines of Arlington Rd.

Get Smart is totally hilarious and worth it!!! Laughed throughout the movie.

Dasavatharam SUCKS!! Some of the roles were there just to make up the number and forget about special effects, the double-action dubbing itself was unprofessional. Bleh.

No Country for Old Men

I knew this movie would suck .. but being that it won the Oscar for best film ... I had to see it anyway.

In the end ... it was as I expected ... boring random nonsense .. absolute waste of time.

MESSAGE!

I watched Hulk finally - it was very good but not as good as the original Iron Man

I also saw Wall-E, it was crap.. I was forced to watch it because of a certain friend.

Watched Hancock and Wanted

Hancock was as Big Mac has described it, great start BUT rubbish ending

I liked Wanted - some good action, a good storyline and the acting was not bad from McAvoy

Wanted looks really good, how was it Geordie?

Watched this newly released indian flick " Aamir " last night. It's one the best films to have come out of bollywood in the last couple of years.

The director claims that terrorism is the back-drop of the film and not the main theme.

It's a movie somewhat along the lines of " No Smoking ." The guy who made No Smoking and Black Friday is the creative producer here. However the movie is not as complicated as No Smoking and the average viewer can very easily relate to what is being shown on screen.

A MUST WATCH for everyone !!

i watched transformers last night on dvd, had seen it before, preety decent movie with alot of action, but story line is abit childish

Jab we met...i've watched this film over and over again caz i just love it and find it hilarious..u can never get bored by watching it

That was such a chick flick :P only girls like that sorta stuff :21:

Forbidden Kingdom was rubbish. Throughout it we were just making jokes about the danda that the kid was carrying.

Also saw Semi Pro - was pretty average, extremely silly at times without actually being as funny as it intended.

Will probably see the Dark Knight next week at the Imax, only problem is that the city will be overrun by the Jesus squad for World Youth Day so dont particularly want to go into that area.

Want to see Wanted (not out till the end of the month) and Wall-E (not out till September here). Wall-E mainly cause a friend's nickname is Wally so its just going to **** him off. Another friend found a ringtone with the 'Wall-E' sound so we were just playing it to annoy him

I watched Jaane tu ya jaane na yesterday...

it's a cute movie... good time pass movie... u'll not b disappointed!

Saw Hancock and Kung Fu Panda.

Hancock, I didn't think had a bad ending, just a lousy middle part. They ditched the story and the narrative to have a big fight sequence to keep people happy. Big mistake. Shame, was really fun until they let it go. Oh, and Charlize Theron is inhumanly beautiful. If there really are angels, she is IT.

Kung Fu Panda was brilliant. Love animation? You gotta watch this.

Hancock was good. A darker underbelly underneath that comical overtone.

Jaane tu Ya Jaane Na... a very well made cute romatic movie... i recommend it!! 8.5/10

saw "Wanted" with High expectations... was good till the interval/first half but later it was more like Sunjay Dutt/Salman Khan type bollywood movie where the hero with his eyes closed is shooting bullets and killing bad guys while those poor bad guys who are hiding and aiming cant get their bullets even close to the hero...4/10

The Butterfly Effect

The idea was great, the execution not so. Enjoyable enough, though.

Went to watch 'WALL-E' yesterday (thanks to Kashif for sorting me out)

Good film for the kids.

Also one for the adults - esp some of the dialogue.

Usual Pixar quality. They are the best in the business.

"The Man from Earth".

Fantastic. Go watch it, especially if you are not afraid to use your brain.

What the hell is wrong with me. I havent seen an Indian movie at the cinema for about 3 years now but I agreed to watch one today instead of seeing the Dark Knight the day it gets released. I dont even remember what the Indian movie is called although I'll probably see Batman on Friday

WALL-E - One of the best movies for any age in recent times.

Journey to the Center of the Earth - 3D version is worth watching. Otherwise, not really that good. Not even in the same league as the Mummy series.

Jaane Tu........... - I cant believe this is a superhit. Honestly!!!

I watched Charlie Wilson's War. Saw the first half 2-3 weeks ago and last night I finished it. Not bad but got that good either. Also saw Cleaner last night. Not good

Next in pipeline are Darfur Now, Antonment and Kite Flyer or something like that. I have had them for few days but haven't watched them yet.

Kite Flyer was a good documentary. I liked it very much. I closed Atonement in the first 5 minutes, it was soo boring.

I watched "Amir" yesterday.

Its a nice but a low budget movie. Didn't do too much marketing but was appreciated in the multiplexes.

Its about a muslim doctor returning to India back from UK and how is he treated by Officials and his own community.

I didn't like the end of the movie as inspite of saving the life of a lot of ppl he branded himself as a terrorist. And definitely it didn't help the cause of muslim community.

Watched Bollywood film "Love Story 2050".

An amazingly rubbish film it is :boom: !!! Hell :po: !!! I would been much more entertained had I sat those three hours in the toilet :6: .

The boy tries to copy Hrithik a lot :) .

I still dont understand why people curse Bollywood - if they insist on watching it. Not talking about ocassional watchers who are giving a reasoned 'critique' of a film...more about those people that watch every film, and then criticise every film (eg anti-Pak or anti-Muslim etc etc)

Seems like the industry is churning out mass-market masala to quench the insatiable thirst of its customers - quality is unlikely to figure high on its list of priorities...is it.

I was sure that movie will be a junk one. So didn't go for it.

Rather liked "Jane tu....." which was produced by Amir Khan. Though it was nothing new story but I can say that I enjoyed it. :)

yeah, even though the movie is completely empty of a plot,, soemthing about it and the new guy seems to click somewhere

Yeah, my cousin and her best friend convinced me to come along to see an Indian movie we had a choice of Love Story 2050 or Jaane Tu but I was like getting me to an Indian movie is pushing it, but a title like Love Story 2050 wont be on and luckily my cousins friend agreed too. Jaane Tu wasnt that bad though. Decent enough entertainment.

And to my luck I also managed to see The Dark Knight later on in the evening. Words cant describe how amazing it was. Joker was incredible - but Heath Ledger's acting but also the whole character and the stuff he did. There were countless scenes where I was left with my jaw hanging and totally speechless. But its certainly not fair to say that it was just his show cause Bale's Batman is easily the best of the lot so far. After Iron Man, I thought Marvel set the bar pretty high but Batman has gone way beyond that. I'll definitely need to see it again to make sure I absorbed everything

Watched a film called Untraceable last night about a serial killer who posts his murders on the net.

Average stuff 4/10

watched fast n furious part 1 last night, pretty good, even though i have seen it before

Watched Aamir last night. It was a really good movie, and I don't agree with your assessment of the ending Garuda. It just goes to show you how powerless the common man really is.

I loved the line "agar har insaan apnay baaray mein sochnay lagay, to poori qaum theek hojayegi" or something to that effect. Very good effort (no wonder it was directed by a friend of Anurag Kashyap, who directed the masterpiece of a movie called No Smoking).

Exactly and that was the theme of the movie too.

But the end branded the guy as a terrorist. May be I was too upset to see the character die.

However, the movie let the people know that everyone who blows up might have been used by the terrorists and he himself was so powerless to go against them.

Who knows ??? It might be happening in real world and may be the suicide bombers are really some "aamir".

Jaane tu ya Jaane Na... I like the movie. I mean it was nothing special but did have a feel-good factor abt it and you could really relate to the characters.

IMD Walrus said:
Aamir had to die. There was no other ending possible for this film, without making it farcical.
hmmmm May be you are correct.

Without that he would have become a bollywood hero who has a solution to everything. The purpose of the movie would have been died. :)

Watched Bollywood film 'Hulchul'. A good film for a change. Enjoyed it a lot and I have to say was a wonderful film. I liked it :) ! I think I´m a year or so late in watching this film.

Watched a few films on the weekend alongside sport.

WALL-E is ok for the kids.

"The Bank Job" was a good action, thriller. The normal break into a bank story. Add a pretty woman into the story and MI5/MI6 and you have a storyline. Was meant to have been a true story.

"Wanted" with Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and some other actor was very good. Also action/thriller. Top class assassins who were part of the "Fraternity" that had one purpose. Kill. Some good scenes. Even Angelina Jolie can kick some ****.
