House Full - love it. Often hilarious.. it's not a full comedy, more like a drama too. Good film. 8.5/10

ur kidding.. worst piece of crap ever!

Iron Man 2

Not a fan of super hero movies. Just went as friends decided to go. Too much of metal hitting sound, made me feel crazy.

The Bad Lieutenant starring: Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes - Watched a Nicolas Cage film after a long time and wasn't that dissapointed at all! Pretty good infact and I'll give it 8/10!

Have you watched the original? That was good too.

Hrithik was very good in Kites but I don't see how anyone could have bettered what he did in Jodha Akbar.

lol, I thought that was a terrible film to be honest.

I actually thought it was brilliant.
Found it totally gripping from start to finish but that's me i guess.

Seen any others recently?

I thought it was very good apart from the middle when the cowboys cops got involved, overall a good watch tho

Watched 3 iron a few months back thought it to be very very good and obviously recommend the vengeance trilogy as must see

Other must watch eastern films include - election, infernal affairs, brotherhood of war, a bittersweet life and the isle

I've seen the vengeance trilogy, they were excellent.

I've heard good things about 3 iron, what is it about?

You seen a Japanese movie called Battle Royale?

3 irons about a mute guy who brakes into peoples homes whilst they are away and lives in it for a day before moving to another until he comes across a battered housewife and flees with her .....

Very little dialogue and beware not as much violence as ud expect but its a beautiful film, i loved it

Seen battle royale about schoolkids that are thrown together and must kill each other, winner gets to leave

Very bloody, good watch

Any ud recommend? Ive a lot on my list to watch only got into em about a yr and half ago

Thanks for the info.

Yes i have seen a hell of a lot and there are many i would recommend but my taste might be different to yours.

So i have to ask what is your preferred genre?

Or are you simply into good films.

I'm abit one dimensional in this regard, i love action movies and if they have some kung fu in them then all the better.

Similar 2 u, i do enjoy good films full stop generally but when it comes to far eastern films i enjoy action, blood and kung fu but not mindless violence - theres got to be a good story to it

Well that's very good to hear.

How about IP man 1 and 2?

Loosely based on the teacher of Bruce Lee, excellent story and even better action sequences.

Others i would recommend are:

Fighter in the wind
Azumi 1 and 2 (similar to the Kill Bill's)
Ong bak though the script is awful
Memories of murder (someone here recommended it, dark but brilliant)
True Legend
Old Boy
A Bitter sweet Life (copied by Bollywood :) )

Ichi the Killer -Is he the blind samurai?

I think i've seen, it is very good indeed.

I really like your choices bro, they are very similar to mine.

There are many more we can recommend to each other some day.

Thanks.

My bad, sorry i've not seen that but i have heard about it.

It's supposed to be very violent isn't it?

I assumed you were referring to Zatôichi which has the blind samurai in it.

ICHI is not for the squeamish Very bloody and sickenin violence People hanging by their skin, boilin liquid bein poured, slicin n dicin

It made me squirm and i usually can handle it

Try n watch it

Just watched Robin Hood tonight. Pretty entertaining. Ending sort of sets it up for a sequel.

Just watched Badmaash Company.

It was alright. A tad over the top at times with some of the ideas in the movie. I guess that is always part and parcel of bollywood movies.

I've heard it's very violent but it's not cheesy is it?

There was a movie i watched ages ago called "The story of Ricky".

The plot was good, the action entertaining but it was very cheesy.

The lead actor was literally punching football size holes through his rival's stomachs lol.

Watched American Gangster last night - Long Movie but well worth watching. Denzel is a class actor

El secreto de sus ojos (The Secret In Their Eyes). Brilliant movie. Haven't seen something this gripping in a while. There were moments where it felt like the movie would end abruptly and had me pleading for it to go on. It definitely delivers.

Best movie I've seen this year. (Of course this will obviously change this weekend when Sex and the City II comes out.)

are a girl by any chance?

if you are, it would certainly make sense

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

This is a Swedish murder mystery, thriller. Really well done. Plot keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. Just found out it's the first part of a trilogy, based on novels by Stieg Larsson. Will definitely try and catch the 2nd and 3rd parts when they get released here.

I second this. I watched this movie couple months ago...and I liked it too.

Great movie
Very well written and the british actor was too good.
Trinity also looked stylish.

one thing though, they said that guy spent time in Islamabad and could speak persian. It would have been Urdu instead, i think.

The Road - very good film. Brilliant acting by Viggo Mortensen, even the boy did a very good job

Now, please watch Brotherhood of war.

Better than any of these in my opinion.

I really want to see Four Lions but I doubt it will be shown anywhere in the US. It's a shame, but I don't think people here are ready for a lighthearted portrayal of terrorists.

Unthinkable with Samuel Jackson.. Its a devastatingly brutal movie. Not for the faint hearted.

First film in pusher trilogy, very good gritty realistic and often brutal movie that follows seven days in a drug pushers life

it follows how durin the course of the week frank falls into a very bad mess

Very good and hard hittin, recommended

Yes

But liked that British actor and trinity.
Samuel just over acted.

I watched "Shrek - Forever After" . :D

It actually was not that bad. I have always enjoyed Shrek movies.

Can anyone here recommend any good mystery movies?
Two that I've seen recently are excellent:

The Secret in Their Eyes (Argentinian)
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish)

These will be in subtitles. Don't know if it applies to you but some people don't like that, so thought I'd mention it.

Both of these movies remind me a lot of a slightly older Hollywood film, which is also class: LA Confidential

Shutter Island great movie recommended

I second that! A great movie that leaves you shocked and confused at the end. The story can be interpreted two ways can't it? Makes it all the more better.

I don't want to go into all the details since some of the people here haven't see it and might want to see it. Teddy was insane through out the movie and he partner was there just to keep an eye on him. At the end of the movie when he said something like it is better to die as a good then to live as a monster; the doctors were going to kill him.

I hate reading sub titles any Hollywood mystery movie will be nice.

You could take it both ways, but if you really pay attention there is only one way and that is Teddy is insane.

the doctors werent gonna kill him, I think they were gonna slice his brain or something in that watch tower.. so he lives the rest of his life like an insane dude.. he was normal, but the rest were so in to proving that he was insane, that he gave in... thats my point of view

No, he was insane. He was wrong and he believed that he was right, but he found out at the end that he murdered his wife, not the guy he was looking for.

Just watched Four Lions in cinema, really enjoyed it, laughed all way through the movie, very funny :D

shrek 3 ---ok

shutter island --- superb

housefull -- some like it i dont ...hopeless besides they murdered the classic song apni to jaise..

city of gold --- fantastic ...kind of like vastav . the film showcases how mumbai became what it is today and the growth of the underworld. warning not your avg bollywood fare very gritty grim and dark

raajneeti -- suprisingly good .... film retells the classic mahabharat in a politcal scenario.

if you like this i recommend gangaajal ...film about vigilante justice

prince of persia -- passable

sherlock holmes -- v good ...ok i m biased i love anything that rellates to 221b baker street
