"War Horse". Pretty good movie. 8/10.
One question I have is what happened to Emily (the grand daughter of the french farmer who bought the horse in auction)?

A Walk Among Tombstones (2014)

3/10

Expected much better from a Liam Neeson movie. Hollywood's been pretty poor recently.

Klopka

Really good Serbian movie...what would you do if you had no money but had to raise 30k for a life saving operation for your child?...nice look at post Milosevic society too...

The Others ..9/10

One of those movies whose twisting ending leave you speechless.

I bet if you watch it for the first time you would want to watch it again on the same day..:yk

'If I Stay' (2014)

What a boring film! An amazingly boring film! Can´t quite comprehend the high ratings for this one. It felt as if the cameras were on and people moved about in life.

Creature 3D 6/10

ok movie since horror genre is at infancy stage in bollywood, Imran Abbas had a good role

Just watched Singham 2, I hated how in the movie theyattacked their own religion while glorifying other people's religion. Was not good to see.

Extremely stylish yet slightly incoherent horror film from Dario Argento. Impossible to follow if you don't know it's a middle film in the trilogy of Suspiria and Mother of Tears. Unfortunately was made right after the masterpiece Suspiria so couldn't live up to those expectations. Nevertheless, it is amazingly shot, has great kills and an unnerving atmosphere. There are a few negatives such as characters doing idiotic things, a protagonist who might be the most clueless and useless person ever. But the style and really cool music by Keith Emerson makes up for it in the end.

Which religion did they glorify in it? Can´t remember much anymore.

Annabelle. Had some good scares and was decently shot. The husband in this is possibly the most useless character of all time but the wife does a pretty decent acting job and isn't as annoying as her other horror movie protagonists.

I have planned to give it a go, should I? It´s all in your hands, sir.

Decided! I have never given it in anyone´s hands. You are lucky.

I will watch it.

Take a date with you.

'If I Stay' (2014), given how boring it was, provided the perfect opportunity for this. I could easily have laid with a girl the foundation of our future.

Really, it was so boring that I could go on and talk about the future throughout the film.

'Dracula Untold' (2014)

Quite a wonderful film. I fully enjoyed this one. It was a last-minute plan to go as both my brothers-in-law as well as my brother had a day off, and I am to be classified as the most jobless person in the world anyway.

Given that it was released just on the previous day, there was hardly any empty seats in the hall. Saqs What did Waqar Younis once say? "It´s a full house, especially on the right."

So yeah, a very good film.

Any good scary haunted mansion films?

I last night watched Conspiracy Theory starring Mel Gibson.

I think that the....
... guy in the film set a very bad example by sucking his own wife´s blood, even though she was dying anyway. Sends a wrong message to many annoyed Pakistani husbands.

If I were in his place I would have instead sucked my whole folk´s blood in order to save my wife, but maybe that´s just me I suppose.

Booked advance tickets for upcoming Pakistani movie "Na Maloom Afraad" on EID. Can't wait

I heard Bang Bang is a remake of Hollywood movie Knight and Day (2010) which itself was pretty average.

Dracula Untold is PG-13!!!! How the hell do you make a PG-13 movie about the most bloodthirsty character in the history of fiction? And what's the deal with portraying him as an anti-hero? He is a monster. Always was, always will be. Look at Nosferatu or Lugosi's Dracula. Now those are real vampires. The last true great vampire was Chris Sarandon's Jerry from Fright Night.

Also just watched Haider, the movie attacks the Indian army and shows separatist as heroes.

Some Bollywood movies clearly have an anti-india agenda.

It's PG? Damn. Might give it a miss then.

When you get the time, go through this article:

http://hinduexistence.org/tag/singham-returns-glorification-of-islam/

It was sickening what that movie did.

Does the insult of saints and ashrams equate to insult of Hinduism? Just wondering because I often see Mullahs shown in bad light in the Bollywood films but yet often they show Islam in positive light. Mine is more of a question than an assertion.

Film 'Singham' (2011) had references to some great verses from the Bhagavad Gita though.

Watched Khoobsoorat which has Sonam Kapoor in it and some guy called Fawad Khan who looks like Virat Kohli.

Pretty poor film if I'm being honest. Storyline was weak, acting not that great either.

2/10

Waiting for Gone girl. What i have read about it in reviews i can say that it is yet another sinister and suspenseful masterpiece from David Fincher.

Haider.

A shakespeare tragedy based in the backdrop of kashmir. I was more interested in seeing how closely it matches the original play, instead of how well it represents Kashmir. All the characters were there except Horatio. There is more than a hint of Oedipal complex in Haider when he is known to not tolerate anyone touching his mother, and in the scene where Tabu kisses him on the lips. Khurram (Claudius) is shown as having a weak personality, and KK Menon did well to play that, because he usually has a strong personality. Tabu again plays a complex character, torn between her love for her son and her new husband. I liked the entry of Irrfan as the king's ghost and the grave diggers scene which is the central theme of this play. Still, Maqbool remains the best adaptation for me, and Haider second, followed by Omkara.

I found the audience non partisan, and they appreciated the movie without falling for nationalistic rhetoric. And they laughed after learning a new word: Chutzpah (the C is not silent).

Wolf Creek 2

Good sequel. The deranged Mick Taylor returns- this time twice as brutal as it's predecessor. One of the most evil portrayal of a serial killer.

7/10

Gravity.

Watched it on telly last night.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice to see some proper 'hard' SF.

The Dollar Trilogy:

A fistful of dollars
For a few more dollars
The good, the bad and the ugly

One of the greatest trilogies ever made. Should watch if you're a fan of western type of films.

Na Maloom Afraad (2014)

One word. Brilliant

Enjoyed each and every moment. It was very funny with good acting of everyone, brilliant work by the new director Nabeel Qureshi. Good thing about this movie was it was shot on the streets of Karachi. I am not a big fan of item numbers but I enjoyed the Billi song. Saw people were clapping when the movie ended. The movie is already a hit and I think it will surpass the previous hit Waar (2013).

8/10

Operation 021

One word : really bored me

On technical side of things it was A-1 but there was no story at all.It was a 2 grade level documentary about Afghanistan.

i went along with my other 2 brothers they were taking a nap in the middle of the movie

did not live up to its hype.

Heard good things about this. Apparently a very funny movie. Which is a welcome change to the usual seriousness that comes out these days from Pak

'Haider' (2014)

Easily Shahid Kapoor´s best film and one in which he has worked the best, but the reason behind my keenness to watch this one was the director, Vishal Bhardwaj, and especially if it happens to be an adaptation of any of Williams Shakespeare´s play by him. This one had at least a couple of similarities with the play 'Macbeth'.

The only negative thing was its 160-minutes long length. Seriously, I personally can´t put up with such a long film. Having finished watching it some 40 minutes ago, I am having immense headache and even a cup of tea hasn´t helped so far.

As I usually do after watching any good film based on any Shakespeare´s play, I would just stop to praise the great man´s writing skills and creativity. How I wish I could write a tragic screenplay like his ones!

I will give it nine out of 10!

Watched Haider last night as well due to Vishal Bharadwaj and must say I was not disappointed. Shahid hit a new high and there were quite a few stellar scenes
The movie was as close as a cinematic adaptation could get to the play.
Loved the Little SALMAN, he was hysterical with his mannerisms,
Tabu was awesome, so was Kay Kay, infact the entire ensemble was perfect
9/10 for me, a lil lengthy in the 2nd half but the end and the buildup was significant and very well executed
Amazing cinematography of Kashmir

Mystic River

With a childhood tragedy that overshadowed their lives, three men are reunited by circumstance when one loses a daughter.

This is a solid movie. No gimmicks.

Solid movie. The ending was cruel!

watched haider today. good movie from 2 points of view. firstly they have tried to touch the groud realities in kashmir but just short glimpses of what the reality is . that can be understood for they can only make a 2 hour movie. they have touched issues like disappearances after being taken into custody by the army, Afspa, the start of IKHWAAN (ex militants given licence to kill current militants , the power which they misused for money and personal grudges) by the army and most importantly they tried to show the frustration of a kashmiri youngster and what drives a youngster towards violence. being a kashmiri i could relate to certain scenes like the humiliation kashmiris have to face when they are asked to prove their identity so regularly. i kid u not that frustrates the hell out of us. dare i say the long hair look of shahid kapoor actually is the depiction of a typical kashmiri guy especially if we talk about the 90's which shows the film makers had done their homework nicely. on a funny note i didnt quite enjoy the stereotyping of the English accent kashmiris use where they showed us putting emphasis on 'ED' while talking english. but that too could be understood as they were mainly showcasing village people, but yes that was true as well.

second point of view is the purely artistic one . the amazing use of metaphors in the various dialogs and songs is breath taking and the poetry used sometimes is good and goes hand in hand with the script. i would give the movie a 9 out of ten.

One of those movies for me. The ending took it from 8/10 to a 3/10. Utterly hated it. And I don't mind downers but this one was terrible. Not to mention, Sean Penn hamming like crazy.

A bit disappointing compared to the sequel which had some awesome moments. This one has three stories and a wraparound. Unfortunately none are scary except for a few WTH moments but this one has three fun segments and a terrible, nauseating wraparound.

Vicious Circles AKA The Wraparound (Directed by Marcel Sarmiento) : Guy tries to film an ice cream truck being chased by cops but apparently there is bad stuff happening to whoever is around that truck. Builds up intrigue but falls flat. Terrible ending and annoying shaky cam.

Dante the Great (Directed by Gregg Bishop): A loser magician gets his hands on Houdini's Cloak and becomes a star. But there is a terrible price to pay for the stardom. Excellent special effects and a very good ending despite lacking scares.

Parallel Monsters (Directed by Nacho Vigalondo) : Scientist builds a portal from where he sees his parallel self having also built a portal. The two selves exchange places for 15 minutes and it goes baaaaaaad. The best segment IMO with seriously messed up special effects and some genuine suspense.

Bonestorm (Directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson) : Group of doping and roller skating teens go to Tijuana for drugs, fireworks and fun. But they get more than they bargained for. A good segment which went on for a bit too long and some truly confusing camera work. It also didn't help that the characters were uniformly detestable.

Gorgeous Vortex directed by Todd Lincoln was excised from the movie for some reason. No one's giving a clear answer but I hope we get it back.

Overall, I liked this movie lesser than the other two films. Nothing in this comes close to Safe Haven from Part 2. But it's a watchable segment with some fun moments and humour.

6/10

Safe haven from 2 was out of this world.

Disappointing they didn't do this one right.

Not many people would appreciate this movie for the first time, this takes time to sink in.

I always compare this movie to 21 grams, I guess because they came out the same year and had Sean Penn in them. I thought Mystic River was overhyped. Other than a few scenes it lacked cohesion. 21 grams was far superior imo.

Interiors (1978)

Woody Allen's forgotten masterpiece. A somber highly stylized movie in the tradition of Bergman. The main character is played by the late Geraldine Page portraying a depressed highly controlling and manipulatuive wife and mother. The husband finally decides to leave her as the daughters are all grown up and independent. The daughters, eldest played by Diane Keaton, are all artisitic in their own sense. The eldest is an acomplished poet married to a talented yet unsuccessful writer. The middle child was supposed to be the genius of the family but has not been able to fulfill her potential and is in constant competition with the elder sister. The youngest daughter is the prettiest but not as intellectual as the others, she has managed to become a small time actress. The wife wants the husband to reunite and asks her daughters to push their father towards her, but the husband has had enough of her controlling ways and is now dating other women. The daughters in the meantime are conflicted over which side to favor and getting to terms with their underlying resentment towards their mother. It has the feel of the old Hasina Moin's PTV drama serials. Very much charcter driven. Intense performances by all and of course the dialogue is top notch, always the best thing about Woody Allen movies.

Never heard of 21 grams , thanks for informing , I will catch up with it . :)

Beware, it's an extremely sad movie. I remember renting it from Netflix when it first came out on DVD and knowing the subject matter I sat on it for weeks trying to gather the strength to watch it. Finally saw it one night when I was mentally at a place where I knew I could withstand the emotional punch. It was a psychologically devastating yet deeply moving experience. The movie's story, characters and images lived with me for weeks afterwards. Still, I haven't been able to get myself to watch it again. I think after "Schindler's List" that was the most emotionally wrenching experience I've ever had while watching a movie.

If you like this movie, you should also check out 'Babel' by the same director (Alejandro González Iñárritu). It's not as melancholic as '21 grams' but is equally poignant and well made. The concept of widely different story lines and characters converging towards the same theme is done beautifully plus the soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla is a treat on its own.

Bang Bang (2014)

What a dabba movie same old ****.i don't know why Hriktik and Katrina are rated so highly they both don't know how to act

I watched Na Maloom Afraad at the the premier where I met Javed Shiekh and FAWAD KHAN!!!!! though film was pathetic and left it after intermission

Fracture. (2007)

Love these courtroom thrillers with the the criminal playing around with the prosecutors mind. Loved it.

8.5/10 - Solely because i felt the ending wasn't as strong as it could have been.

Bang Bang

Katreena can't act to save her life, and neither can she speak good hindi. Movie runs solely on the shoulders of Hrithik.
Nothing new/special in the plot, with the 'twist' in the end can actually be spot half way into the movie.

5/10.

Just watched Border,classic movie.

I urge every Pakistan posters here to watch it.

is it the same film where an indian soldier (sunil shetty) out of fear of war against pak cuddles with his wife all night before leaving ?

i watched that film exclusively for that. i was sweating seeing those scenes. scary stuff.

watched a Tinto Brass movie Monamour 4/10 this one was not at the same level like his movies in 80's the stuff was too much for this genre

Waiting for a documentary about the disastrous behind-the-scenes shenanigans of 'The Island of Dr. Moreau'.

los.jpg

Richard Stanley was gonna direct the film but New Line Cinema pretty much interfered like crazy. Add to that, Brando was on auto-pilot. With bad weather, worse executive meddling and terribly disinterested actors, Stanley was fired and replaced by John Frankenheimer who was in his 'hack' phase. The most interesting thing is Stanley resorted to witchcraft at a point after being driven totally nuts.

Interesting stuff!
