No, Colin Trevorrow. Take a notepad and pencil and see how many references to the earlier movies you can spot.

On second thought, take a couple of spare pencils just to be safe.

Lol. I will jot them down on my phone and report back.

I think you'll have a good time, now that I've calmed down a bit it's kind of enjoyable in parts. Plus dinosaurs are always cool.

6/10 Better than Mad Max.

I counted at a minimum five or six almost identical scenes.

And I love how they got Irfan Khan to be in it, the closest guy they could get that looks like Goldblum.

I would love to go to a theme park like that. Would be amazing.

Will watch Mortdecai today. Reviews are bad but i'm a huge Johnny depp fan so what the hell.

OT: How's Dil Dharakney do? I've half a mind to see it, but am generally wary of Indian movies these days..

How are you kid?

Don't see you posting in any controversial/political/cricket thread anymore!

Kid? :80: I thought I was older than you?

I'm drowning in course work, as per usual. Yourself? see any movies lately?

You're still stuck in coursework and I'm done with it.. who's older? Your degree seems to be taking forever to complete :P

No movies, Gone Girl I've downloaded but yet to watch. TV shows have spoiled me!

Trading places 1983........... 7/10

A decent comedy without cheap talk and creepy accent. Some scenes were hilarious :))

Dil to pagal hai - meh, average IMO.

Insh'Allah planning to squeeze in a trip to the cinema tomorrow to watch Jurassic World before Ramadan starts.

Mortdecai

Oh well , had to see it due to johnny boy although the reviews were like someone sat on a cactus.

A comedy movie with few laughs here and there, somewhat suspense, and some good acting by johnny depp.
I would give it a 6. Watched some parts in fast forward though :D

Insidious Chapter 3

Some scary parts in it due to some clever camera work etc but overall a pretty weak story line with some poor acting.

5/10.

I have to watch Gone girl!

With the amount of work you put in, you could've done it in 2. :nawaz

Waiting for your book to come out. Publish one soon, your writings are amazing.

Perhaps you meant to say the amount of 'crying about my work' as opposed to actually doing my work.......
*whistles innocently*

:)))

Unless you want to read some Mortal Kombat fanfiction, I'm not writing anything these days :P

Crying eventually leads to some work in the end. That's how you've been acing your GPA. Don't hide!

Didn't know you were into fiction. I meant you should write, and a proper book. Publish it. Make millions from what you love doing and what you're so good at. Tolkien-i, is that you?

Just from cricket side. I'm too old to deal with that level of idiocy unless I'm being paid.

Lol, good one.

Too much BP-boiling threads and arguments in the cricket forum these days. I need a break too I guess.

I won't say it doesn't work, but I concur that I've also been incredibly lucky most of the time :)

You flatter me, Hawkeye - I'm nowhere near that good, and have hardly any ideas or creativity worth expressing these days.. but thanks all the same for the comment, it made me smile :)

Jurassic World - 7/10

Yeh same. Thought it was a bit predictable and definitely silly at times. The elder son in this movie could have been done away with, the movie didn't need him I thought.

They've definitely left the door open in terms of a sequel or two. Since the movie has just shattered box office records a sequel is inevitable.

You're busy but being lazy as well. Maybe you'll think seriously about writing some day. Perhaps in your late 30s. ;-)

they got carried away after the beast got loose.

Teeth

Still a stranger to her own body, a high school student discovers she has a physical advantage when she becomes the object of male violence.

Amazing new refreshing subject. A high school girl develops a kind of teeth in here private parts. The movie moves smoothly , not too many dull moments.

7.5 / 10

'Jurassic World' (2015) in 3D

Phew.... Wow! Aweeeeeesommmmmeeeeeeeee! Wow! Full of jaw-dropping scenes!

I would love to go to a theme park like that. Would be amazing.

Saqs, any idea how we can 'make' dinosaurs? I too would love it.

King of Thorn - had a decent start but got bored half way through the film. The last 20 minutes was a confusing pile of poop. Total waste of time.

Not sure bro but I am pretty sure it will need some gene extraction from Shahid Afridi.

It follows

4/10

There is nothing scaring about this film, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Jurassic Park is part of my childhood memories. I remember watching this every week on my VHS player with my family, cousins and friends.

So I watched Jurassic World, I expected a lot. it's nowhere near as good as the part 1 but much better than part 2 and part 3. it's an entertaining film because of great CGI, action sequence and outstanding atmosphere, despite the predictable storyline, no character development, dialogues were underwhelming,

7/10

Saw Jurassic World 4 chows I'm gonna give it. 3D dinomasaurs. Enuf said :bean

A startlingly good horror movie. Tribute to the films of Lucio Fulci. A family moves into a house which has a dark past. A cliched story made VERY interesting by the director and some great performances. The movie goes from a moody, atmospheric horror piece to a gore-a-thon but doesn't lose it's sight of the end goal which is to remain as grounded as possible.

It also has a sly, very understated sense of humour which can be seen from time to time.

I think I can say that this might end up as the best horror film of the year for me but I said the same about It Follows till this came around. So, you never know.

But the Indie horror scene is churning out some really horror films this year. Good on 'em!

How old is this? Might check it out.

About two weeks old I think. Rated a low 6.0 on imdb but deserves much more IMO.

I've learnt not to take IMDB ratings on horror movies seriously.

Actually, a 6-ish for a horror move on IMDB is actually not that bad.

Mississipi Burning. 80s film based on the disappearance of three civil rights workers in a small secluded Mississipi town. Set in the 60s during the struggle for Black rights especially in the South. Really good film entertaining and also emotional. Willem Dafoe and Gene Hackman play two FBI agents who come to investigate the disapperance.h ave very different personalities and way of dealing with issues

The usual suspects 8.5/10

Amazing movie, a very surprised plot twist in the end and still recovering from it

Monsters university 6/10

Did not really enjoy it as much as Inc.

By the way guys, if you're huge fans of zombies movies and have seen most of Romeros hits i highly suggest watching 22 days later and 22 weeks later if haven't already. Great films with great soundtrack.

If the twist in Usual Suspects got you then you should watch The Crying Game.

The theory of everything- Above average 7.5/10 although

Pride and Prejudice 1995 mini TV series- Exceptional 9.5/10. Highly recommended to those who like the novel or the 2008 movie.

A river runs through it- Average 7/10

The blues brothers- Some great laughs, a pure comedy but musical part was pretty average 8/10.

7/10

A decent prequel with a magnificent performance from Lin Shaye. She gets to kick a$$ and take names. She also gets to "Act" and she does superbly. Too much reliance on jump scares marginally ruins a surprisingly strong dramatic component. The lead Stefanie Scott does well too. The ending manages to be surprisingly touching without wallowing in sentimentality.

Leigh Whannell shows he is not just riding the coattails of James Wan. He has got promise of his own.

Watched Zodiac again, was on the tele.

Masterpiece. How crime thrillers should be made. Ridiculously good.

Leathers - how does Insidious 3 compare to the first two?

Watched Jurassic World last week.

Loved the special effects and the dinosaurs but some of the acting and the story line was terrible.

Definitely worth watching though.

7.5/10

How'd you react to the Pakisaurus stuff.

Yes, it was a movie that kept me tense throughout with actually showing anything. I expect a different ending every time I rewatch it such is the character development.
Fraility and Prisoners also come to mind.

In terms of scares, 1 > 2 >> 3

In terms of overall movie quality, 1 > 3 > 2.

Oh yeah Zodiac is a masterpiece. Fincher is a master of thrills.

Finally got to watch some films which I did not have time for before... Gotta' love summer holidays.

I watched:

Dumb and Dumber
Old school
The Godfather part 1 and part 2 (absolutely brilliant films, what a time to be alive.)
Inception (fantastic storyline)

Will watch Forrest Gump and Interstellar today.

Can anyone recommend me similar films like the Godfather or from those times/era/theme wise etc? Thanks. Films like war zones, or western people lost on Islands during war zones etc. Saqs

Well 1900 is simialar to The Godfather as are Goodfellas and Casino.

As for western people lost on foreign Islands isn't that the premise for most historical movies? :murali

Similar films to Godfather:

- Goodfellas
- Scarface
- Donnie Brasco
- The Untouchables
- The Departed (both the Hong Kong and Scorsese versions)

More recently, "A Most Violent Year" and "The Drop". Haven't been good mafia based films in recent times, but these ones really stand out.

The best war movie I have seen is The Thin Red Line. Amazing. Absolutely mindblowing. Saving Private Ryan gets all the accolades, but this is the real deal.

Western people lost on islands during war zones is quite specific, but I think you may enjoy Christian Bale's Rescue Dawn. Riveting performance from a younger Bale.

Thanks for the suggestions guys Saqs and PCB_1

Will check them out. I remember watching some film were Americans are stuck on a Island with Korean soldiers or Vietnamese, or somewhere in cuba but this was many years ago, hence the specific request.

Just finished watching "Cast away" - decent film. Guy get's lost in a Island, middle of Tahiti after plane crash and invents/adapts in order to survive. 6.5/10 for me.

Best film for me has to be The Dark Knight; unreal film.

Lol PCB. I didn't even make that connection till now. Cheers.

Cast Away apart from the ending was a very good film. If you want films with American or western prisoners of war or stuck with the enemy you can check out, Letters from Iwo Jima, Unbroken or my favorite (The Railway Man.)

Poltergeist - 8/10

I do not know why internet rating is so low. It had its scary parts and i liked it.

Donnie brasco - depp and al Pacino together!!!!! Bloody brilliant.

The departed has other versions too? I watched the one that had de caprio in it and it was mind blowing.

Yeah. Depps finest performance imo. Amazing synergy between the two legends.

Scorsese version is a remake of the original HK hit Infernal Affairs. Both are ridiculously good.

The Hundred Foot Journey-- 8.5/10

The film is so charming and entertaining, watched it with my family.

Still Alice 7/10

Intriguing and Julianne Moore really deserved an Oscar, the best part was the speech she delivered.
