As Sh Rasheed has indicated, there is a possibility of early elections should PM feel it necessary (and assuming he comes through the no confidence motion test.

Would that be wise?

If PDM wins NCM, what I would like IK to do is to dissolve Punjab Assembly and if PTI wins with greater majority then En-Massa Resignationa from National Assembly. Otherwise let the PDM govern and fight amongst them over it.

It depends upon the rules.

Once a motion for no confidence vote is submitted, i dont think an election could be held.

Imran Khan can only petition for early elections whilst still in power. Its highly likely that he would not remain PM for long given the no-confidence motion would succeed. So whilst he can do it he should call for elections.

When does the motion for no confidence vote come in to effect?

Tomorrow?

If that's the case Imran should call for immediate Elections.

its already in effect once it got submitted..

Now PTI is trying to delay it and rumours are Imran wants 28 days for god knows what. He might aswell throw Buzdar out after being blackmailed.

Anyways, Sheikh Rasheed is the biggest tool in our politics, i am surprised that his comments are even taken seriously.

Budget is not gonna come until july/August

Masha Allah great power show by Inran's followers, unbelievable crowd when there were claims hia popularity is waning. Opposition kampey must be tang rahi.

What good is the million person Jalsa if you can't stage a 1979 Iran style revolution?

A straight fight between good and evil. Its time we moved passed the status quo protected by the Judiciary, Establishment and the elite.

Tangain hee naheen hain...

i think if they lose the voting, PTI should resign from assemblies , it will invoke constitution article to be called new election automatically, since next govt needs to form the govt with current working assembly , they cant form it without 155 PTI empty seats.

I believe that will be the only way forward to make use of his popularity.

Imran needs to ride this out for now.

He should stay away from the public polls.

No point of elections if the PPP and PML N are in a position to rig the elections.

No point of elections if the PPP and PML N are in a position to rig the elections.

There’s more chances of rigging to occur in the 2023 elections when the Supreme Court appoint Judge Qazi Faes Isa as the CJP a month ahead of the elections. He’s known to be anti-establishment and he’ll make sure the likes of Nawaz and Zardari can come back into power.

The establishment want the elections done before the CJP’s appointment but the only problem is will overseas voters be allowed to vote.

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday held a special meeting with the senior PTI leader and additional general-secretary of the party Amir Mahmood Kayani and Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan to discuss action against dissenting party members.

The premier - ahead of the no-confidence vote – has ordered a strategy to be formulated for issuing show-cause notices to those members of PTI who have refused to follow the party line.

According to sources, the draft for the show-cause notices has been finalised and the notices will be issued to the concerned MNAs under Article 63-A of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Article 63-A of the Constitution strictly prohibits members of the assembly from crossing the floor; a member of the National Assembly who deviates from the party policy issued by the head of the parliamentary party must forego their seat.

The premier has given dissident members the opportunity to clarify their position by noon, April 1. If they do so, they would be pardoned.

“Strict action will be taken against members who do not satisfy the party by the stipulated deadline," PTI stated.

Official references against MNAs who have openly deviated from party policy are to be sent to the Speaker of the Assembly during the meeting.

PTI will move to declare the seats of dissident members vacant under Article 63-A of the Constitution.

Days after PTI issued show-cause notices to 13 of its lawmakers on grounds of alleged defection, the disgruntled lawmakers responded on March 26 by vehemently denying the allegations as “baseless and untrue”.

The strongly-worded response came after the ruling party issued the notices when the dissenting PTI lawmakers were found staying at the Sindh House and openly expressed a lack of confidence in the prime minister.

The PTI had asked the lawmakers to explain within seven days about giving the impression that they were about to leave the party.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid urged 'responsible quarters' on Friday to take the initiative and announce early elections to hold accountable those who sold their votes.

While addressing a ceremony held in Rawalpindi to confer upon the Waqar-un-Nisa College the status of a university, the interior minister added that tomorrow would be an important day in Pakistan’s politics.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan will not be defeated by elements who looted the country for decades, and have now united against his government,” he said. “Even if the no-confidence motion is successful on Sunday, everyone is with Imran Khan. Rawalpindi does not like those who sell their votes.”

The interior minister reiterated that he is standing with the premier like a ‘rock’. “Imran Khan will fight against these plunderers and looters,” the minister stressed.

Rashid said he wanted for the Nullah Leh project to also be inaugurated, "but I guess people didn't want that".

Announcing 264 jobs and Rs300 million worth of funds for the university, Minister Rashid said that he did not know where he would be the day after tomorrow but these jobs were to be given to the daughters of underprivileged families.

The minister lamented that it was an uphill task trying to give the medical college the status of a university. "Had to please people who no one even bothers to greet,” the minister said.

I think and someone can correct me, the only way to announce early elections is if we have mass resignations..

Also the choar ghadaars will have to pass the budget first. Can they do this? ATM they have the numbers but who knows..assuming they do then the PTI and its partners could look to get early elections done..

Most of IK’s ministers and heavy hitters are professional lotas who seems to find their conscious at the fag end of their tenures in positions of power. Some will stick with him longer than the others. But ultimately most of them will abandon him if he fails here. It’s all hopeless.

My suggestion to PM would be to ride this - take the vote, take some time off - then gather his thoughts and the beat these people to pulp in the next elections.

Chances are given their backgrounds, their little alliance will not even last that much time.

I dont think IK should call for early elections.

Give these dodgy politicians even a few months , you will see allsorts of backbiting and corruption take place.

In light of the current political situation, Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Saturday that there was the option for the establishment to intervene and call early polls.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the home minister initially stated that there were two options, one that early elections were held, or all Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers resigned from their seats.

“Those who have conspired should be tried for treason,” Rashid said, adding that the corrupt opposition parties which took foreign money to instigate the vote of no-confidence should be banned.

The minister claimed that if PTI lawmakers were to resign the country would struggle to operate, stating that the opposition had managed to create internal rifts within society.

“The fourth option is that I declare war on these thieves and looters; it is my mission to bury those who are politically dead,” he remarked.

The interior minister’s statements come after he urged 'responsible quarters' on Friday to take the initiative and announce early elections to hold those accountable who “sold” their votes – an apparent reference to dissenting members of the ruling party and others that decided to side with the opposition in the no-confidence motion.

While addressing a ceremony held in Rawalpindi, the minister added that Saturday would be a significant day in Pakistan’s politics.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan will not be defeated by elements that looted the country for decades, and have now united against his government,” he said. “Even if the no-confidence motion is successful on Sunday, everyone is with Imran Khan. Rawalpindi does not like those who sell their votes.”

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid on Saturday revealed that even if the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan succeeds, the premier will continue to hold office until a new leader is sworn in.

At a media talk in Islamabad, he referred to Article 94 of the Constitution — related to the prime minister continuing in office — which states, "The President may ask the Prime Minister to continue to hold office until his successor enters upon the office of Prime Minister."

Rashid pointed out that the Constitution was silent on how long the process of electing a new leader of the lower house should take after a no-trust vote succeeds.

The opposition, last month, tabled a no-trust motion against PM Imran in the National Assembly. The voting on the motion is expected to take place on Sunday after the previous session was adjourned.

Talking about it on Saturday, Rashid touted that the no-confidence move was a "foreign conspiracy" and accused the opposition of being a part of it. "They should be charged for treason," he demanded.

Three options
He proposed three options to counter the motion. "First and foremost, the establishment should intervene and call for early elections immediately either after Ramazan or Haj."

The next option, the minister said, was that the three main parties — PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F — that brought the motion, should be banned and an inquiry should be initiated against them.

Rashid's third option was an advice to PTI members. "Resign from all the assemblies."

He said that politics in the country was changing every second and reiterated his support to Imran Khan.

"The opposition is stuck. Imran Khan has gained stardom from this fiasco. We [the PTI government] have flaws too. But I can say for sure that people don't even want to see their [opposition] faces."

The minister added that he was adamant to expose the "stooges" and announced a political war against the opposition.

Opposition's upper hand
Earlier this week, in a surprise move, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), previously a key ally of the PTI-led coalition government, formally announced that it was joining the opposition ranks.

After pulling out the seven-member MQM-P, the opposition parties have managed to cross the magical figure of 172 — the minimum number required to form the government at the Centre — and now enjoy the support of 177 members in the National Assembly even without nearly over a dozen dissidents of the ruling PTI, who had already publicly declared the withdrawal of their support to the prime minister.

In a media talk after Thursday's session of the NA, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the opposition alliance had successfully managed to the bring over 175 members in the Parliament.

I agree with not going for early elections, as long as PTI still keeps Punjab. The Pakistan Dhokebaaz Movement (PDM) has nothing holding it together except their desire to get rid of IK. They will self desruct on their own. IK should use this time to fix PTI and get rid of lotas unless absolutely needed.

Who is the Establishment that PTI members keep referring to?

Pakistani politics is so much codeword deciphering.
