England should drop Foakes and play specialist batter. Bairstow , pope , Duckett can keep wickets.

England just can’t help themselves sometimes. Now into the realms of hoping for a tail wag.
last Test peeps at TMS were saying Rehan could in future bat as high as number 6 for ENG & Hartley is decent plus Wood can tonk . 370 still very much possible .

Well, Bumrah's 1-54, so that will slightly worsen his bowling average.. :bumrah

WICKET! Rehan b Siraj 6 - England 314-8

What a delivery by siraj. Brilliant

Stokes basically triggered a collapse and England all in sea at the moment.

England were 224-2 when Root played that stupid shot and England haven't scored even 100 runs since then, already 9 wickets down..

This is really poor from England. If you can't make merry with everything going for you against Ashwin less Indian bowling attack then it's terrible.

England is going down quickly now.

WICKET! Hartley st Jurel b Jadeja 9 - England 314-9

Root should be made to sit out I have been watching this pattern since the start of the series in every test.

England in a half decent position and Root comes in , expected to capitalise but instead he digs a bigger hole for the team every time. Such a pathetic effort by a senior batsman while Pope, Stokes, Duckett ,Crawley all have contributed with the bat.

England fans in stadium nodding their heads vigorously, not sure about the collapse of their team.

Inspiring performance by the bowlers in ashwin's absence.

126 is a pretty big lead. Not going to be easy to chase even 250+ here in the 4th innings.

Shocking. Root been very ordinary this series, the match situation was perfectly set up for him at 207-2.

WICKET! Anderson b Siraj 1 - England 319 all out

It's all over!

Siraj with another terrific yorker, and it's simply too good for Anderson, seeing the Indian quick finish with four-for and the hosts claim a 126-run lead!

Which one will be missed more by India? Ashwin the batter as Indian batsmen are usually terrible in 2nd innings or Ashwin the bowler in 4th innings?

lead of 126 & 51 overs left - IND can get to close without losing more than 3 wickets , would be game over .

No point in blaming Root. He is an all time great Test batsman who is being forced to bat like a crackhead by his idiotic captain.

England will lose this series 4-1 against a heavily depleted Indian side and Stokes and McCullum should be sacked and this Bazball BS binned.

England drew the Ashes at home 2-2 and are on their way to losing 4-1 in India. The exact same score lines that England achieved under the defensive and outdated approach under Root.

So what has this so-called revolutionary brand of cricket brought for England? They have failed their two biggest tests with flying colors.

Sir Alastair Cook, speaking on TNT Sports:

"My shout [from yesterday] of 'they could score 800 tomorrow is not looking too good - I'm only 481 off!

"Is it an opportunity lost? England have been poor with the bat - they've lost eight wickets for 116 today and you don't win many matches when you collapse like that in the first innings

"To win Test matches you have to be good for such long periods of time.

"India were poor yesterday but they've been very, very good today."

India will be pretty happy with this scorecard. England have missed out again.

Jadeja really balances this side. On normal days, he is a bowling A/R who contributes with bat regularly. But when the need is, he can become a batting A/R and still pick key wickets.

112 runs and 2 wickets( technically 3 but won't go there as run outs are part of the game).

Andserson has just installed some secret weapon on his shins. Could be get a wicket imediately? :afridi

I go back to the Indian batting innings and all of the chances that England missed. Think it was 3-4 catches (including Rohit very early) and 2 DRS reviews that they could/should have taken. India being allowed to score 445 in their first innings has created the perception that this pitch is completely dead. But I’m not sure if it is. England take their chances and both teams score 300 in the first innings, this is a completely different game.

I didnt watch England’s batting today but hope they didnt throw it away.

They should have aimed to bat for a long time to really tire the Indian bowlers out with Ashwin missing.

Now the game is Indias to lose. England don't have the bowling to get them out cheaply so it's likely the Indians will bat them out the game.

Poor old Joel, useless isn’t he.

Always worth reviewing one of his outs / not outs.

WICKET! Rohit lbw b Root 19 - India 30-1

Root has deserved that!

He has toiled away on a consistent length to these Indian openers without any reward... until now!

Not given out on field, but this time England use a review wisely - three reds lighting up after Rohit misses with his attempted sweep.

you nailed it , same thing came to my mind that had ENG been good in field , first innings scores would have been in the same vicinity & by early morning today the 3rd innings would have started ruling draw completely out . Fancy ENG restricting IND to under 250 ? 35 overs left today ...

Root, Bairstow, Stokes and Foakes have been average or poor this series and that's why England haven't made the most of the good starts. Once again they will lose this test and go 2- 1 down by tomorrow.

India will be looking to bat till the tea tomorrow to get a lead of around 400-450 plus and then choke england to win it.

Need to move on from this pathetic batting.
Sarfaraz is not a bat option at 4 instead Patidar

Sehwag,Gambhir,Sachin, dravid and laxman all were used feet to attacked spinners but this generation batsman are preferred playing very defensively

India's lead is of 199 now. England is not feeling like they are in this game atm.

Even Hartley was using his feet against our spinners who are obviously far better than English spinners.

Once Pant is back, India will again be an invincible side.

Jaiswal
Rohit
Gill
Kohli
Pant(wkt)
Jadeja
Rahul

Amazing top 7. Sarfaraz as backup option.

Some absolute dross being served up by England after a tight start by Anderson, wood and Root.

Root has bowled more overs than the number of runs he has scored in this series.

242/1 & looking nice & flat out there - would Rohit declare for anything less than 450 ?

Feel Rohit will retire from all formats post the 2024 T20 World Cup. And possibly Jadeja too after the home season this year against Bangladesh and Newzealand.

We will probably see the below team in Australia -

Jaiswal
Sudarshan/Gaikwad
Gill
Kohli
KL (C)
Pant
Sundar
Ashwin
Bumrah
Siraj
Shami

Neither the English or Indian batsmen have the patience to play a slow long innings, this is where Pakistan has a huge advantage over these teams especially on a flat batting track. On tracks like this Babar, Rizwan, Shaan will not leave the crease without a three figure score.
