Quite mature innings from Gill so far.
I have seen many careers ruined just because they haven't scored when their career itself was in jeopardy and some batsman are real steel , they finds a way out of the trouble..This guy could have been out of test squad for a long time just saved his career for the time being..That gives little hope that batsman has grit and determination..Hope he will do good in future after his initial mistakes..

This is where it all could all go pear shapeed for india.
end of the day we have but 4 guys who can bowl. And about 2 guys remaining who can bat.
The last 3 guys and the nightwatchman are certified halwa railoo katta and expecting even 20 out of them is very optimistic.
all Eng need to do is get about 3 wickets and chances are high the rest will roll over.
The biggest test for our guys is defending whatever we get in our 2nd dig. if Eng get off to a good start and by the way this series has panned out - they get rocket propelled starts each time they walk out, this will send the thunderflash amongs us.
joe root is too good not to score big, the same with Bairstow. If they get 2 big partnerships we will be facing the heat with the 4 guys who will be stretched heaps.
My 5 C worth, i'd want our guys to bat till tea, grind them out, instead of going for the spectacular and going gung ho.
Whatever happens, am proud that India B team can still mix it with te best and still send the pepper up them english noses - albeit on our shores and in the same token - the Way Eng play - Wow - you cannot switch off the TV- surely the box office team going around!

With Ashwin missing and one bowler short, what I chance missed by Eng.

The problem is that the English bowlers don't get enough rest, are tired, therefore will make the lives of Indian batsmen easier. This in turn helps the Indian bowlers rest better. India will not miss Ashwin if England only plan to bat 60-70 overs. England need to bat long and tire out the 4 bowlers.

Correct.

But even now the test is not done yet. India has just two debutants and Jadeja to bat. Then they will have one fully fit and one half-fit spinner. Eng can still win this game. Not having Ashwin to bat and bowl both may prove costly.

This is a flaky Indian side. WIth one bowler/batsman missing things can go really badly. Pacers cannot bowl too many overs. Will be down to spinners.

Shami is the best old ball bowler in Indian conditions second best Umesh thus far in the last decade. Shami is a massive void to fill. I like Bumrah's variations. But with old ball he is still not as good as Shami. Bumrah, Siraj are new in this job. Ishant was also doing a fairly decent job. India woudl dearly love to have him back.

Root is good enough to bat normally. He does not need to resort to this approach.

England threw it away. They had a golden opportunity to put up a big score.

India should win now.

England got absolutely pumped today. They need to write off those three sessions and make sure it’s their worst day of the tour and things don’t get worse, otherwise they will get beaten 4-1. This match in my opinion is gone, but the series might not be if they can bounce back.

India has one bowler less. So England is still in it. This pitch never breaks. It is good to bat on all 5 days.

Nah, the match is not done. India is a bowler/batsman short and the pitch should be good to bat even on day 5. If Ashwin was playing then yah, the match was done with this score.

He should play his normal game while others can play attacking shots. He is too good of a player to get out playing risky shots.

Even 15 years back getting out reverse sweep would be considered irreponsible. In this series alone i can 2 that i recall. Gill in the last test. Root this test. It has become normal now.

Jaiswal will probably come back in to bat if it looks like India are about to fold for under a 450-run lead.

Kuldeep was great today. Just that Jurel was garbage behind stumps today. However, it was his first time against spin bowling of such calibre, he'll hopefully learn.

Jurel must have played with Kuldeep and Saurabh Kumar plenty of times for UP. So he isn't new to proper spin bowling.

He must improve behind stumps. These mistakes can hurt on worse days.
