2015 World Cup Result: Bangladesh comprehensively beat Afghanistan by 105 runs

Now you are talking about some random stuff. :yk Pls...first do something noteworthy. Then talk. We've earned all the bragging rights. So, I talk. :hamster:

And get hammered by everyone.

sanga playing with fractured ribs and malinga playing in pain shows your countries desperation.

your team is the laughing stock of world cricket. Had to be bailed out by the bcci too.

Ok. enough with talking to minnow fans. I've gotta get ready to go to work. Y'all have a good day !! :mc

Our openers can't eat so many balls, it was painful to watch. So many dot balls, Tamim and Anam needs to work harder and look for singles, Tamim look lazy while running, and running between the two has been quite poor. Riyadh blocks way too many balls, I think Mushy should come in at 4, Riyadh back where he belongs.

Soumya Impressed me with the bat, but needs to play smart cricket, can't play shots at every ball, can't blame him as Riyadh was creating pressure on him by blocking balls continuously.

It's good that we didn't go with Tajiul Islam, our spinners didn't look that threatening today. Good decision today overall except for Mominul, Nasir should have been in the game, sending in Mominul at 9  haha :misbah

Expected result I guess.

Somewhat baffled by Afghanistans selection though. Ghani is one of their few positive batsmen and they drop him and make Zazai of all people open? Very confusing.

I figured this would happen and as I said in the preview, their middle order just bats too slow. They can be forgiven in this case since they were 3/3 I guess but they were never gonna chase that down batting at 60 SR. Nabi looked in good touch though and they bowled well. Some positives for them to take I suppose, just play Ghani and let him have a go at opposition next time

bangla boys should back them selves 2 beat sl or/and eng

We are in with a chance, aren't we? Though the team can still improve and the batting order needs to change. Can't have 2 of the best batsmen in our team come at 5 and 6. Top 4 are either unproven or just not able to bat at 80+ SR. Not always will we end up with 260+ after being 100/4 in 25 overs.

Aaah we where having fun banter then Donal Cozzie the buzzkill comes in :D

Since everyone is having a go at one another, well we Banglaboys have something to say too.

We will beat.....................................................

I dont think my post was buzzkill. To me buzzkill is a 72 ball 20.

Kinda like Anamuls last week :yk :amir

The only thing which makes me mad is why they are celebrating it with victory lap I havent seen any team celebrate it like that unless WC win even when Afghans defeated them they also didnt celebrate like it

I think it's time Bangladeshi fans expect more from their team, beating Afghanistan shouldn't be a big deal -they should aim to beat England and Sri Lanka, and put up a fight against Oz and Nz, and make sure they don't lose by a big margin, so that way they can make it to the quarters.

This is their 5th world cup, and they've played test cricket for the past 15 years, they need to up their game.

He was just getting a sighter.

And if you think that was a buzzkill, just imagine if Stanikzai got to play 100 balls today. Half the fans in the stands would have fallen asleep.

OZGOD I'm planning on going to the NZ-Aus match, I'll be one of the 40,000 calling Warner a banker :D

The more of you lot the merrier he thrives on it :D

I want Before and After pics of you Aman :D

Our batsmen bowlers and fielders are all better than yours.

first beat zimbabwe and Ireland before even thinking about the quarter finals

lel we'll beat them easily and face you guys in the quarters, though i think you guys will win, this is this first time in history that the kiwis are favorites for the world cup, so make the most of it while it lasts :ik2

That's where coach made a mistake. He should've worked with Anamul from the moment he got the job. Just on talent wise, Anamul is a freak compared to the other batsman. He's one of the few in BD that can naturally occupy the crease but problem is like you said are dot balls. Its risky to have Sarker at top against Australia. Mominul is a must just to not be humiliated at least.

Wrong! players were just thanking fans of bangla for making a long journey from Sydney.

People actually thought Bangla was gonna lose ? Afgh batting isn't top notch but Nabi seems to perform every time. Fell asleep before Afg bowled :yk. Didn't see Bangla's golden boy

How did this 7 page thread evolve into a Kiwi vs Lankan faceoff lol?

how did Taskin ma boi perform?

He was down in pace as he had a heavy lunch, or else he would have been up by 15kph at least :asif

He bowled pretty well, but looked a little nervous. He got away with his first over, bowled too wide, then started bowling better length, troubled the batsmen with his pace and bounce, once hit someone in the helmet and once a player ducked and hit his bat. The boy is heavily built.

"That was not real Afghanistan" as the coach says. Surely this team has had a par record to Ireland and a better record than Scotland recently. You already expected them to not beat Banglas, when Ireland easily bypassed Windies the other day?

I guess Anamul deserves a few more chances, needs to rotate the strike. I would want one of Shakib or Mash bat at number 4, instead of Riyad.

I wish Afghanistan all the best but their players and fans need to get realistic. Read this:

"Deflated Afghan fans rue Bangladesh defeat"

Cricket fans across Afghanistan generated a party mood for their team's World Cup debut on Wednesday, but there were long faces as their side crumbled to a big defeat by Bangladesh.

In towns and villages across the country, crowds gathered round TVs in restaurants, cafes and even in the street to watch the game.

Hundreds huddled together in front of a big-screen TV outside a wedding hall in the southern city of Kandahar, once the heartland of the Taliban.

The excitement grew as the Afghan fast bowlers tied Bangladesh down during the early overs in the Australian capital of Canberra, and each wicket was greeted with deafening cheers.

But the mood turned glum as the Afghan innings began with the loss of three quick wickets, with the newcomers eventually going down by the large margin of 105 runs.

Ahmad Shoaib had been optimistic the Afghans would cap their fairytale rise to the World Cup with a win.

"I am at loss for the words. I could smash the TV. After all those stunning achievements, we were hoping for a better performance against Bangladesh," he told AFP.

"How did we lose to Bangladesh? I can't believe it, we had beaten them before!", he added in a reference to Afghanistan's one-day win over the Test nation during last year's Asia Cup.

In the eastern city of Jalalabad, near the border with Pakistan, there was, perhaps, the biggest concentration of fans, with the streets and government offices deserted during the match.

Humayun, who like many Afghans uses only one name, had bought 15 kilos of oranges to distribute among the crowd at a restaurant if the team had won.

But as Afghanistan's chances ebbed away, he left the restaurant, taking the oranges with him.

Some fans took a more philosophical approach.

"This is one match, there is always the chance of winning or losing. Today luck was not on our side," said Baryalai, aged in his 30s, in Kandahar.

And there was confidence among some that the side would learn from their emphatic loss.

"This was the first match and we lost, but there is still hope," said Hashem Yousufzai in Kandahar.

"Our team can recover, can retaliate, can make a strong comeback. I pray for it and I know my prayers will come true!"

Afghanistan face a tough challenge in their next match, when they take on the mighty Sri Lanka, 1996 World Cup-winners and beaten finalists in the last two editions.
"How did we lost to Bangladesh? I can't believe it" :facepalm

They genuinely think they are a better team than Bangladesh because they upset BD one time. They think because they are big and well-built they automatically have a license to be a world-class team but the truth is that cricket is as much a game of technique and strategy as it is a game of physicality. They need to mature if they are to be a top team. At the moment they are miles behind Zimbabwe and Ireland forget Bangladesh.

A very large majority of Afghan either have no idea how the game is played or are too busy earning a living to worry about a game of cricket. Quite frankly as an Afghan I have a very good grip of what is happening in Afghanistan and I can say with assurance that this is as good as we will get in cricket. Football and martial arts along with volleyball are immensely popular and also affordable hence majority of youths grow up playing those sports. Our quick rise in cricket was due to our players learning and playing the game in Pakistan as those players get older and the team continues struggling it will be very hard to produce quality cricketers in the future specually since hard ball cricket is almost non existent in the country at the youth level.

I think it has something to do with that Afghanistan - associate cricket is never televised and they frequently watch Bangladesh being trashed by Various team, so they think Bangladesh i crap team, but their own team is worse.

I am sure I heard one of the commentators say 'this is an upset' after Bang beat Afgh!??

Thanks for your candid insight brother. I hope that's not the case. The raw talent is there and the U19 team is doing well. They thrashed Pakistan in Pakistan. I believe more emphasis needs to be placed on improving batting technique and the overall understanding of the game. Maybe get a world class batting coach to work with the young, upcoming batsmen. With the athletic genes, Afghans will continue to produce fast bowlers with potential. It's the batting and the fielding that needs to be worked on. I see Afghanistan being a quality team in the future Inshallah.

i think they see Pakistan put up a decent performance int'l stage and since they believe Afghanistan is better than Pakistan, so they must walk over the other minnows.

Gotta love their passion
