Arsenal FC | 2024/25 Season

Should beat both even with our issues. Obviously we have never won a UCL but its easier to scam your way through than winning the PL. ( not saying that we will ) But a good defence can take you far and we have that.

Arsenal need to play with no pressure. Nobody expects this season to be any sort of success so the players should play with some freedom and stranger things have happened.

I was told yesterday that if Liverpool lose to Man City and Arsenal beating West Ham then its in Arsenal's own hands ( apart from goal difference). I told him don't do it to yourself as we are not winning every game now until the end of the season but it just shows how things can change very quickly.

I don't think Liverpool drop points to City or us

I think they'll go on a bit of a run now but it's in the last 4 games where I can see them dropping points

It's just whether you'll still be in a position to take advantage of any slip ups at that stage

slip ups? hahaha i see what you did there

I think people are probably getting a bit carried away with City dismantling us, we were pathetic that day, it was basically a training game for them, they'll not get an easier game all season

Wasn't even intentional but it works I guess, lol

Yeah we should beat either of those Dutch sides, then depends if bayern or Real Madrid end up on our side of the draw.

Bayern didn't look that good vs celtic. Madrid will go through their gears as usual in CL.

In regards to league, 1 game at a time. We need to beat West ham and apply pressure.

We also have a tough game away to forrest the midweek. So need to get 6 points from 2 games. Don't care how we win. As long as we do.

Yep. City's flaws have not gone. Any team who will press city will reap the rewards.

Remember the One-nil to the Arsenal days?

Yep I do, that sort of form we will need with the poor attacking resources we have left. Interesting to see how west ham line up at play at weekend. In the away fixture they tried to go toe to toe and got slapped. Most teams may see sense in playing low blocks and trying to frustrate us.

All games from now on are crucial but Saturday's game against West Ham is now even more important.
If we win then pressure heaps on to Liverpool and if City do beat them then all the noise about Liverpool bottling it will get louder and louder.

Tomiyasu out for entire 2025.

Imagine getting paid 5M a year for 6 mins of football this season.

The club's wage bill is a shambles. So many injury prone or useless players on. Stupidly high wages. Yet the club supposedly had learnt its so called lesson after having to release players from contracts before.

You have key players like Gabriel, saliba, saka who will have 2 years left on contract come the summer. If they want renewals, these players will want more money then the 2 highest paid donkeys at the club in havertz and Jesus.

Arsenal are pretty much going to have to let a lot of players Jesus, Tomiyasu and a few others to run their contracts down. Because no one is going to over pay for injury prone players on stupid wages.

Arsenal wage bills is now on a par with Man city's. Yet the squad is full of holes

Arsenal vs PSV in CL

Winners play Real or Athletico

Liverpool vs PSG

Winners play Villa or Brugge

3 English teams all on same side of the draw

Maybe the team should wave their arms in the dressing room to the captain to see if that gets him going.

Now that is what you call a clear red card...

End this season lol

Yep it's all over
I'm not even mad bro.

The club gave up on the season when they decided that there were no players in the world that could improve us in January.

Our job as fans is to support. But there comes a time when you realise they ain't worth your energy.

You'll get the usual "it's not over yet brigade".

Open your eyes. We have no striker. We have no wingers. Our Captain has decided to go missing for the season and is to comfortable as he can't get dropped as no back up.

To sum it up. And to none Arsenal fans to understand. I'll leave with this....

All our midfield is fit.... We bought on Zinchenko when we needed a goal.

Let that sink in.

The realisation of what AJ has been harping on about since time began hit me around about the same time it hit you, I just wasn't prepared to admit it..

I still believe we have the nucleus of a top top team, just need to acquire 3 to 4 players that are going to take our first eleven from a good one to a great one, and which we'll naturally strengthen our bench...

Hoping against hope that the owners come good and that Arteta pays back the fans for all the support they've given him.

Oh dear , losing at home to 17th in table is a disaster.

Unfortunately I haven't watched any of it, so cant comment on the performance. @Mamoon
Any 2 min YouTube highlights available yet?

Much tougher games to come also , any more of these losses and Merino will forget his wife's name!

Not likely brother.

We'll address 50% of our needs this summer. It's the same ol story where we always end up short every window.

Nothing will change tbh. City will be stronger next season. Liverpool depends who they keep and who goes.

This was the chance. A striker and a winger we would have won the league.

But we don't have the ambition.

PSG can turn it on and beat anyone so will be tough for liverpool.

PSV will beat this current arsenal team , need Saka back fit and firing to win this tie imo

Oh dear , losing at home to 17th in table is a disaster.

Worse than a disaster. Pathetic.

They haven't kept a clean sheet for god knows how long.

We whinge about our strikers. They played with bowen up front.

Poor poor levels. And as I keep saying. There is no title race we are just 2nd

I can understand your frustration, If this was liverpool my team with this manager not strengthening the squad in January , I'd be very angry and most fans will be wanting him gone at the end of the season but arteta isnt going anywhere. You mentioned no ambition but the club has funded the manager well , he surely hasn't spent well?

Now that is what you call a clear red card...

End this season lol

I actually initially only saw one bad replay and thought it was harsh but then saw the replay where Raya was miles out of his goal

That's a shocker of a result, means pressure is off for Liverpool for tomorrow, they'll play without the extra worry and win with ease

He is part of the issue. Easy to blame the manager.
However we have been here before with another manager and there is a common denominator.

Every single person will accept a 15 million a year contract to make champions league every year.

The owners only care about the finances, until that changes and they address all the needs then it'll always be 60-40 blame. Most on the owners.

Arteta has made mistakes but I find it hard to believe he didn't want to strengthen in January. Somebody decided no and that's the person/people the anger should be directed to.

But I'm way to old and busy to be angry anymore 😂.

I do give Liverpool stick only cos it's easy however good for you guys. Enjoy the title. Don't focus on Arsenal not winning it but Enjoy the moment. They don't come round often unfortunately.

It's not a shocker though tbh. I saw bits of Leicester game yesterday and how poor they were defending then I saw the 5 at the back with 3 midfielders sitting for West Ham and I knew we ain't scoring.

Very poor goal to concede to. The red card didn't make a difference. We were never gona score.

Best case now is. Newcastle don't make UCL and we buy Isaak. I assume him wanting UCL may help a deal. Who am I kidding we are probably buying Sesko

City can still win esp at home as they raise their game , a win would be great but a point will do being 3rd straight away game and 4th in a number of days .

Today was a painful result but not too surprising, arsenal were avg v Leicester who are mid table championship side atm .

Liv win tomorrow and its 100% done imo .

The performance might not be a shock but the result certainly is

Even with injuries Arsenal at home should be beating the side 16th in the league

There's been local press reports that we won't be selling regardless of us getting CL or not, still has 3 years left on his contract so if we have to sell then it will be next summer

'I'm very, very angry' - Arteta after Arsenal hopes suffer 'big blow'

What was billed as a pivotal weekend in the Premier League title race may not be over yet - but it is already shaping up to be a painful one for Arsenal's "very angry" manager Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners went into Saturday's game against West Ham knowing that victory, coupled with a defeat for Liverpool at Manchester City on Sunday, would leave them within touching distance of the Premier League leaders with a game in hand.

It was a huge opportunity Arteta's team, but one they failed to grasp as they delivered a toothless performance against a West Ham side they beat 5-2 at London Stadium back in November, managing only two shots on target in an eventual 1-0 defeat.

Jarrod Bowen's first-half strike proved the difference, while the Gunners' hopes of a late reprieve were dealt a major blow by Myles Lewis-Skelly's dismissal 17 minutes from time.

A Liverpool win at Etihad Stadium would lift Arne Slot's team 11 points clear at the top of the table – a lead that is beginning to look unassailable, even with the game in hand Arsenal will have at the end of the weekend's action.

When asked about his team's title prospects, Arteta replied: "It's not in our hands.

"I'm really, really annoyed with the things that are in our hands – which is the performance and the result.

"[We were] nowhere near the levels that we have to hit to have the opportunity to win a Premier league. I'm very much responsible for that, so I'm very, very angry."

Arteta's sentiments were echoed by skipper Martin Odegaard, who said the Gunners "lacked efficiency" in the final third against Graham Potter's team.

"It's a big blow," he told BBC Match of the Day. "The performance today wasn't good enough. We have to see the game back and analyse it, but it wasn't good enough."

Gross neglect and lack of ambition and poor decision making from owners, manager and transfer policy now imploding like I said it would all along.

This is also why I didn't resort into supporting every team Liverpool were playing, like some fans would do. Why? Because as I said all along Liverpool will drop points, Arsenal will NOT take advantage.

The wage bill is a shambles, the squad needs so much surgery now after the last 3 shambolic transfer windows.

I can see key players Gabriel, saliba, saka (possibly) all may start to think with 2 years left on contracts, should we renew and stay? Or move on.

The manager and captain rolled out usual disappointment speeches, when you have zero accountability and leadership this is what you get.

I didn't watch the game but was following the score. Kronkes will get their CL money so nothing will change in summer.

Arsenal need a change of captaincy and manager and both at end of the season.

Those deluded enough to think oddegard would make into bayern, Real madrid teams etc.. hope reality is giving you a harsh lesson

with saka out injured, you would Expect others to step and oddegard has been awful most of the season. Yet people were crying when he was injured.

As far as manager goes 15M a year for this rubbish? He needs to go manager Rangers or some other substandard league.

Arteta's 2 cheerleaders have both dissapeared, probably over endulging on humble pie.

Gabriel is more captain material imo , a strong character and one player who gives it his all. Youve watched more but it seems hes been the best player this season. Odegaard does some nice touches, a decent passer too but cant really unlock a defence like kdb or Salah etc . Tbf he doesn't have a striker to look for.

Arteta will be given spending money but you may have to sell a few too . He must buy an elite striker or not much will change.

Gabriel is a great shout for captaincy.
The thing I like about odegaard is the way he leads the press and the way he's willing to track back to win the ball back... the team almost always follow his lead... I also agree that if we had a decent striker, his assists would go up..

Captaincy is not the issue for me, it's the owners and the inability to buy quality players in certain positions, obviously the striker or lack thereof is glaring

Gabriel has 2 years left on his contract in summer, no guarantee he will sign any new contract that are offered. Real Madrid want both Gabriel and saliba. Real are in need top quality defenders.

Yes Gabriel is a leader and would make an ideal captain.

Simply signing a elite striker in summer ain't going to fix Arsenal problems, the team needs the entire forward line apart from saka and Nwaneri replacing. Also the midfield needs to overhaul, as well as getting creativity into side. That costs money which Arsenal aren't willing to regularly spend window after window

I doubt an new DOF will be brought in kronkes will just allow Arteta to do what he wants. This ship will sink like the titanic and worh clueless person (Arteta) they have put in charge.

The owners can be blamed for a non existent jan transfer window but arteta has been backed with huge sums since his arrival. Owners aren't going to keep dishing out funds because his buys are not working out . Arteta did mention at the start of the window he has the squad he needs .

The problem is hes done Utd type business, too many below par players are on big money, long contracts. Partey has done well but seems he might go which is also very strange

Manager is just as much to blame as owners. Edu left because Arteta was given to much power. Arteta has wasted the resourcing money he was given. With new contract he was given, he ain't getting sacked, the payout would be to much for kronkes. Plus they would then need to get another puppet to bring in if they did.

Fans will keep filling stadium and buying merchandise. So nothing will change.

Self sustaining model does not work long term if you want to win major titles

Arsenal haven't been in a title race at any point this season. Also the fan base online still crying about injuries and reason for failure, is one of major reasons it will never get over line under current owners / manager. The fans show no accountability so neither does the club.

Liverpool have had a 9 point lead over Arsenal since match day 11

All Arsenal have been doing all season is playing catch up. Simply not acceptable and no proper big club would tolerate 5 seasons without a trophy either

Screenshot_20250223_114605_Chrome.jpg

Sakah has proven to be a hugh loss for Arsenal. The effects of his absence is clear to see. Whilst the likes of Rice, Saliba have not been consistent enough this season.

Incorrect. He said we are short

Incorrect. He said we are short
We will always be short. When Arteta chooses to stock pile left backs, supposed number 8s and back up keepers and neglects rest of areas which needed to be addressed.

I can see exactly why Edu left

These are the best owners Arteta has worked for according to hi..Well it's time hr earned your 15M a year, because once again his squad management has been a shambles

Incorrect. He said we are short

I maybe mistaken but very early in jan I read he was quoted as happy with squad and later admitted he was short. Either way no transfers is criminal

Notts Forest aren't in the hot form they were but will want 2nd place and will go hard at home next game. Fascinating to see how arsenal performance in this match

There is no Internet or PL coverage in peshwar from remainder of seaaon.

It's a few arsenal fans who after coming 2nd twice fell in love with arteta and almost expected trophies will fall from the sky, not understanding the details and path this squad was heading.

Internet and the national grid may be down next season long too. This was the greatest opportunity for arsenal, next season PL will be even tougher, imo

Congrats on the win and inevitable Premier League title. Well deserved been the best and most consistent team hence dominating the league table.

Enjoy it.. It's what it's all about.

For Arsenal who cares about 2nd 3rd 4th 5th as you said in the past it's all the same.

I've been on this thread win lose or draw. Now the so called race is over there is not much left to really discuss for the PL anyway. I might make an appearance around UCL fixtures but please don't accuse me of running away 😂. I get to a point where it's not worth my energy.

A long few months away before next season. Need to find a new hobby 😂.

That's very kind but you congratulated on page 5 of this thread already , its unlikely to work now on page 50 :wenger

On a serous note I wont say it's in the bag as it's a copyright term but liverpool fc one hand on 20th league title.

As for hobbies, football manager on PC. Play as arteta and win it !

I'm guessing you've never played football manager as the whole point is you are the manager as yourself. I mean it would be a bit odd to call myself Mikel.

Don't worry there is a serious conversation about Klopp we'll have to have at some point.

Enjoy

At the moment the football and cricket are trying to out do each other to see who is worst.

You may as well enjoy time with kids, family time and re-set come the summer.

'Over my dead body' - Arteta won't quit title race

Arsenal will not stop fighting for the Premier League title despite slipping 11 points behind leaders Liverpool, says manager Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners lost further ground on league leaders Liverpool last weekend following a 1-0 defeat by West Ham at Emirates Stadium.

Only three teams in Premier League history have closed a gap of 11 points or more to become champions by the end of the season.

But Arsenal still have a game in hand on Arne Slot's side and visit Anfield on 10 May, and Arteta believes his side remain in the title race.

Asked if he would concede the title, Arteta said: "Over my dead body. If not I will go home.

"Mathematically it is possible. Three days ago we could close a gap and you are like 'you are one and a half games away'.

"The difficulty is higher than three days ago but if you are going to win the Premier League you have to do something special.

"If you are going to win the Premier League with the circumstances we have you will probably have to do something that nobody else has done in the history of the Premier League."

Arsenal have been impacted by injuries to a number of key players this season and are currently without Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli in attack.

Arteta feels those setbacks caught up with his team in the defeat by West Ham, but he pointed out: "The previous 15 games we had won 10 and drawn five - exactly the same as Liverpool with exactly the same goal difference.

"So we have been extremely consistent over the past three months considering everything we have been through.

"We have generated that momentum and it was that weekend where we have to go again but we got a defeat. On top of that they [Liverpool] win.

"When you are trying to build that momentum, and we put so much into it with the circumstances that we have, it was a really hard one to take."

Anyone suffering from insomnia should watch Arsenal, you will soon fall asleep 😴

But according to Arteta its a miracle that Arsenal have been in title race this season, they should be mid table according to him

Just as delusional as the cheerleaders who have been backing him for last 5 years.

Anyone wanting to donate towards electric or Internet costs in Peshawar please do so

Oh I know your confused, I can tell from all your posts.

Again to Answer your question. My focus is Arsenal not anyone else.

Until Arsenal go on any sort of meaningful run of consecutive wins, what anyone else does is irrelevant.

I already numerous times this season Liverpool will drop points. Guess what no one has taken advantage.

I guarantee you want man city to keep dropping points?

What good is thst scenario, if at the sane time Newcastle don't get their own house in order and take advantage?

Same applies to Arsenal, they will one minute hand a hammering to someone and the next minute draw games they shouldn't have.

So until Arsenal improve their inconsistency form espcially against sides in top half, everything else is irrelevant.
This is why weeks ago I made the point about fans should get desperate and beg other teams for favours.

I said all along what Liverpool do is irrelevant as Arsenal will not take advantage.

Yet another thing I've been proven right on, because I have a sense of reality and common sense.

Its clearly evident, if you Gooners want to make the next step then Arteta is not the man to take you to the promise land. There is a chance City could finish above you, and they've had a disastrous season by their lofty standards!

Every team has injuries so you just have to deal with it, besides it's only Saka who Arsenal really miss. Havertz and Martinelli can be replaced by the other players who are just as mediocre as them.

If a absence of a player really hurts a team, then it has to be City losing Rodri, but then again they also need to find a solution.

The last two games could have made the title race- and they have been ended. Not taking enough risk for me, but Arteta won't change.

Arsenal have never been in a title race at all this season. Since match week 11, Liverpool have had a 9 point lead over Arsenal

Artetas incompetence and inability to use his squad and find solutions after the 1st international break, when GhostOdegaard got injured meant Arsenal were playing catch up.

Now Arteta is making out in his press conference that being 2nd is a miracle.

Both him and the kronkes will continue to take the **** out of this fan base because you have supporter's like peshwari Jimmy hill, topspin and a whole host of others who will come up with excuses, rather then calling the manager or club out over failure

So Oliver decided that the assault on Mateta was not a red card. But decided at the time MLS was.

Anyway Salaams

Arsenal can 'change narrative' of season - Timber

Jurrien Timber says Arsenal can "change the narrative" of their season if they beat PSV Eindhoven in their Champions League last 16 tie.

The Gunners have suffered injuries to several of their key attackers with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus ruled out for the season, while Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have hamstring injuries to keep them on the sidelines.

Arsenal have failed to score in their last two matches and fallen 13 points behind leaders Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.

However, they were one of the standout sides in the Champions League group phase, finishing third on 19 points and only conceding three goals.

Before Tuesday's first leg at PSV's Philips Stadium, Dutch defender Timber said: "I think the motivation is there and it's an amazing league to play in. I think we showed as well in the group stages that we did really well and we have a good team.

"I think tomorrow is a beautiful game to change the narrative and to win."

Timber has played 36 times for Arsenal this season after only making two Premier League appearances in the last campaign after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the opening day.

And the 23-year-old does not think his side need to do anything complicated to get the good feeling back.

"I think we have so much quality in our group, of course we have a lot of injuries, especially up front, but it's a beautiful challenge for us to put our front players - or anyone - to score goals and hopefully we can show that," added Timber.

"We have to score tomorrow, we have to win and in the Champions League you only have two games, so you don't get second chances. So we have to go for it in this game."

Without their first-choice forwards, Arsenal have been criticised for their recent performances, but Timber remains excited for the challenge of taking on PSV.

"I don't think of it as a negative, but we have been through a lot - especially in the last couple of weeks," said the former Ajax player.

"But what I said is I think it is a challenge for us and we just have to take it. Tomorrow is beautiful game to show that - and we will definitely show that tomorrow."

Where have all the goonies gone?

Huge game tomorrow night away at PSV .

This match up should favour arsenal, PSV concede goals so away goals should come. They also can score goals but Arsenal defence remains decent. Bring it back even for a great opportunity to progress . Arsenal wont win the champions league but a semi final would be a top achievement under the circumstances

It could be tomorrow! A great opportunity in the greatest cup competition in world club sport.

Beat PSV , beat Real Madrid and maybe face liverpool in the semi final. Imagine getting the final via this route .... ok it's a test of ones imagination but be excited!

pre match thoughts ?

Well in the absence of any strikers, Saka and Martinelli, I just don't know where our goals are going to come from.
We can't be relying on an 18 year old to score, Odegaard doesn't look like he can out away a penalty, let alone from open play... so we could be looking at another set play goal which isn't ideal..

Thing is, even if scramble a couple of goals against PSV, we'll likely play two lines of 5 at the back against Real and then, once they finally score, the floodgates will open..

So head says no chance, heart will of course hope for the best

PSV have kept only 1 clean sheet in their last 14 matches . They will continue to play attacking football at home, arsenal should score in both legs and the defence should hold up. Sure Real or even Athletico will be very tough but qualifying into the next round will be good boost to the clubs moral . A strong effort in this competition lures in great players , arsenal need momentum to build onto next season.

the 17 year old is the most talented player in this team barring Saka , it's strange Arteta rarely plays him for the full 90 mins. Even 6/7 years ago when not competing Arsenal had flair , were fun to watch but all the games ive watched most of the 90 mins have been tedious football. I think players need to dribble forward, makes late runs and find through balls , regardless of personal, playing sideways and back is not working

Electric and Internet is no longer available in Peshawar until the summer now.

Arsenal will need to play in pragmatic fashion tonight, also be clinical on the chances they get. Arsenal are good enough to keep teams out, so it's what can they do going other way.

What’s the sentiment currently regarding Arsenal’s performances this season and Arteta ?

Are the fans still happy to give him a few more seasons ? It will take a miracle to overtake LFC from here.

From my own perspective & Villa/Unai, I am silently content:

- Still in the FA Cup & Champions League
- CL football next season will be tough, but still in the conversation for European football

Despite the inconsistent form, we used the transfer window well to strengthen the team. Though I didn’t want to see Duran go but there were some rumours about his poor attitude; maybe that’s why they didn’t start him ? Anyway, at least the Saudi money was used well bringing in Rashford and Ascensio because we rely on an attacking mid-fielder and he has CL experience to. Big game today.

It has been a steep learning curve to juggle multiple pots and I think that Unai deserves the opportunity to continue further with us.

It will be a mistake to be defensive imo, PSV concede, go out attack them early, get infront and then counter.

I think there is a divide within Arsenal fans, half see Areta as done his best and cant take the team any further. After all he's done the treble....thrice coming 2nd.

Other believe he needs 2/3 players to win the league.

The Champions League is also tough, not as tough as the league but Arsenal have been given a favourable draw v PSV. Liverpool have PSG, even though finishing top of the group/league and imo Villa who drew Brugge also have a tougher match up.

Its time for Arsenal to take advantage of this fortune and get some fans smiling again esp @Mamoon , poor chap predicted its in the bag and 2 league titles about 3 years ago.

Emery has done a better job in the transfer window, Durran is a top player but fell out with Emery as he wanted to start more. Arsenal signed nobody even with injuries so if they win nothing, its of their own making.

Arsenal have only done well this season when opposition have been open and allowed Arsenal time and space. Most managers with common sense have realised, play a low block which Arsenal can't handle and makes it more beneficial for opposition. So depends on how PSV set out to play, Arsenal just need to take any chances they get.

Most of fan base are making excuses

VAR
Injuries
Red cards
Liverpool are lucky

Arteta making out that 2nd place currently is a miracle.

This fan base never has any accountability. It's either back tracking on claims with excuses.

Or in the case of on here it's

Gone into hiding completely
Hiding on the cricket forum
Liking posts in this thread, but hiding

These plastic part time fans know exactly who they are. They will be back in summer with same shameless Arteta twerking and once again come December will be making new excuses.

Excellent positive start and 2-0 up. 2 well taken goals

Nwaneri looking quality again

LMS needs to sort his head out. On a yellow, stupid 2nd foul and lucky not get a 2nd yellow

Good 1st half apart from silly penalty given away before HT, a few sloppy moments after.

3-1 - need to kill game off in 2nd half

5-1 Arsenal should be tie over

The part time fans who went AWOL on 11th Feb can come out of hiding now 🤭😉

Now that we're 6-1 up Arteta is playing a masterclass by having us practice 15 minutes with just nine men
