Arsenal FC | 2024/25 Season

Real Madrid QF

Warr gaye!
If you have Arsenal membership, ballot is on Monday. I'm hopeful that I should get a ticket even if I don't win the ballot as there will be some who'll give up there a ticket a few days before the game.

Would be great to meet up 👊

Important win for Arsenal against Chelsea but they are still still 12 points behind Liverpool.

Better than spending time in gay Soho bars and posting .

Its an arsenal thread, but now owned by arsenal team. I have a lot of free time will continue to post where I want.

every man and his dog knows both Madrid teams are strong favourites against this arsenal thread , only aftv type delusional fans would suggest otherwise

Where have you gone hiding? I thought you had a lot of free time. :ROFLMAO:

haha good one. He does spend a lot of his time on this thread.

Come on bro. You have won the league easily, no need to run off like Trent cos you didn't win the Quadruple.

My prediction is he will be back if or when Arsenal get knocked out of the UCL.

He’s definitely done a runner TAA style 😂

I tell you what’s interesting, he was on yesterday, so he’s obviously hiding from this thread:

So new DOF named in Berta.

Club just needs a new manager now and can then move forward and Try and win trophies. Rather than the waste of 5+ years with current manager who can't manage a entire squad effectively

Good appointment you reckon?

@Rana @MK7Z @IMMY69 I'd be interested to get your thoughts on this as well.
He's worked at Athletico and done good job there. He needs to be left to scout and do transfers and do whats best for club in terms of selecting profiles, we also need players with backbone, and attitude to win. To many signings have been nothing more then obident lil boys who will listen to mikel. You don't win with such players. No more crap like havertz, Merino, calafori etc..

Scout players who can stay fit, but also actually make a difference. Will see how much influence Berta has, as Arteta has been given way to much and failed with it. Hopefully Berta won't be a yes man.

Excellent appointment. One of the best around and defo best choice out of the options available.

Very experienced and hopefully will be tougher with Arteta and his odd signings.

If there is money and Berta is in charge of signings then it's a big summer for Arteta and Arsenal. Arteta more so then the club.

I'm with @MK7Z on this one.
He'll prove to be an extremely shrewd DOF.

The league has evolved, it maybe Liverpool dominating this season but the other clubs are definitely catching up and its getting more and more competitive so a good DOF is going to be essential.

Saka back in squad and on the bench. Maybe 20-25 mins later for him. To ease him.back in

Looks like the club got its April fools joke in early this morning.

It's going to be a "big summer", I am excited.. usual PR spun bakwas from the manager.

Waffling on about depth and quality. The continual useless signings uve made are reason for no depth.

I'm sure the fans still backing this clown in charge, will have same deluded aspirations in the summer.

That Gabriel injury is devastating. This was a dead game anyway but that has just took everything from it.

Only chance we had vs Real was our backline.. That's that then. Sigh

Now have to depend on kiwor, other option would be calafori but he can't stay fit.

Knowing Arteta he might just stick timber in at CB and partey at RB if lnjuriees don't clear up vs Real Madrid

But don't worry "big summer Ahead" and the squad depth will be address. Don't forget to give the club your welcome earned money, so they can scam you with more lies in the summer 😉

What's big summer ahead got to do with Gabriel getting injured?

Ben White would be the obvious one at CB but he's missing from the squad today.

Whoever it is won't fill the boots of Gabriel. He's important in both boxes.

Ben White is right footed. Arteta doesn't play two CBs with same stronger foot. We've been down that route before where Arteta won't pick 2 right footed CBs to play together. Everything has to be synchronised.

All that injuries have done this season is expose a poorly constructed squad, also just expose again that this manager can't manage a squad in so called adversity.

My point on Big summer is. The season was dead in January, so you may as well focus on the club summer where club will scam everyone again on so called Ambition.

"War chest" under wenger

"Big summer" under Arteta

Same PR bakwas just reworded

Merino might as well score a few more goals, (then just like when the other donkey, havertz had a golden patch) the club can make excuses for not needing a striker as merino is the new giroud.

Yes he does only play LCB's in that position. Kiwior is not good. His positioning is poor and he does not engage. The Madrid forward line will have him for breakfast. His lack of pace is scary. Ben White is a better CB regardless of what foot he is. But its Mikel innit. He does what he wants.

I dont expect to see Gabi until next season now tbh. I mean if he isn't fit for the 2nd leg then no point playing him and let him recover as he has played a lot of games this season. Unless we beat Madrid obviously

Our defence is actually well stacked but just injury prone now. Calofiori has been a massive let down with his availability. Also Ben White being out has left Timber playing to much. The ideal would have been rotate timber and white at RB. Cala to slot in when Gabi not around. Not even mentioned Tomiyasu but he is a ghost.

They are not wrong though - it is a big summer. Not because of the war chest but if they get it wrong its bye bye Mikel. I cant see why they would bring Berta in and not be active in addressing our needs.

The messed up last 3 transfer window has now meant they will be to many holes in squad to fill. Next season the same excuses of lack of depth will be exposed. Even if Berts waves a magic wand all the glaring gaps won't be filled. I was mainly focused on the midfield and upfront. Reality is the "well stack defence" will have same issues.

1 - back up goal keeper, so Arsenal are looking at 20M on a back up keeper.

2 - Defence, kiwor, Zinchenko, Tierney will all be let go. Tomiyasu might as well have his contract cancelled, no one is paying a transfer fee or his 100k wages for someone who can't stay fit. So essentially your left with.

Timber, white, gabi, saliba, LMS, calafori.

Timber, white, calafori as the "back up center backs" . Yet Timber and calafori can't stay fit. I warned everyone calsfori was made of glass, but no one chose to listen. 1 injury to Timber or calafori for example means 2 positions are left short we saw this same idiotic type squad use of so called players who can play in different positions fail before when we bottled top 4 and title.

Reality is Arsenal need to buy 2 defenders in summer. That's not taking onto consideration if Gabi or saliba leave.

3 - Jorginho will be going, partey may stay 1 more year so your looking at atleast one midfielder. The club's looking at number 6s. If that's case that means Rice used as an 8, which he's not. On top that 100M wasted on havertz and Merino who in midfield have Been garbage. The team needs creativity because the captain seems to enjoy dissapearing when it matters most. So midfield your looking at atleast 2 signings.

4- a new striker needed and Arteta wanted sesko, why? Because he would be happy rotate with havertz. Arteta doesn't want to bench his highest paid player. This is where Berta needs to do whats best for Arsenal and over rule the manager. Trossard has refused a new deal, sell him to Saudi. If Anyone offers for Martinelli sell him as well. Then sterling loan is ended.

So you'd looking at a striker. Plus a wide forward minimum

Reality is - back up keeper, 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, striker and a winger.

We can't be in situation of signing more Vieira, havertz, merino type garbage etc..

Pretty much the mess Arteta has created Berta essentially has to fix all in the summer window, everyone knows we ain't doing anything in January. Also Edu hasn't even started his job at forest yet, he's still on garden leave. That should tell anyone that he wasn't happy with Arteta been stupidly given so much power.

Arsenal needs are huge, the fact Arteta has rambled rubbish about going again, improving depth etc.. pretty much yells you he knows he's fked up. But the 15M a year wages will keep him rolling out the excuse for himself and the owners.

Supposedly the club is at stage 4.5, establishing as a regular CL team. 5 years plan just to make CL regularly it just shows the club up for its lack of ambition.

Arsenal are dependant on

1) Berta working miracles
2) Man city being done for 115 charges or their rebuild taking time next seaaon
3) Liverpool lose their 3 key players and have to revamp the team

Even if Arsenal make a dogs dinner of things next season, like they did this one. The owners will keep the manager as long as they make top 4. The fact the fan base have made same excuses as manager all season. The owners know the fans won't revolt in stadium. Next season will be ground hog day again unless Arsenal get every single summer signing right and they are elite quality.

Gabi out for the season. The season has been a disaster on many fronts. Injuries to major players being one of them.

We can ramble on here and repeat ourselves with the why's and poor management, but from a footballing point of view I was really looking forward to our defence being up against the best around. It would have been a true test to stamp their authority as the best CB pairing around. These are the true tests you want your better plays to be ready for.

Yeah its a shame Gabi / saliba combo won't play against Madrid.

In saying that we beat Madrid last time with a back 4 of eboue, senderos toure and flamini

So winning with make shift back 4 can be done 😉

Gabi being out is the best thing that could happen. it's the happiest news for me in sports since Pak won 2021 WC match vs India.

Injured Arsenal defender Gabriel out for season

Arsenal defender Gabriel will miss the remainder of the season after the club confirmed he requires hamstring surgery.

The Brazilian was substituted in the first half of Arsenal's 2-1 win against Fulham at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday.

The former Lille defender has started 28 of Arsenal's 30 Premier League matches this term, helping the club to the best defensive record in the division with 25 goals conceded.

Arsenal say the 27-year-old is aiming to return to action in time for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

"Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season," the club said.

Gabriel's absence could have a significant impact on the team, with the website Premier League Injuries reporting that Arsenal's win percentage drops significantly when he does not feature.

Since his league debut, Arsenal have won 63.5% of the 159 games he has played, but only 40.9% of the 22 he has missed.

It is the 119th hamstring injury in the Premier League so far this season, an average of four injuries to the muscle each round of games.

Last season saw 163 hamstring injuries - the highest for five years - according to figures from Premier Injuries.

Arsenal are second in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool with eight matches remaining.

The Gunners face holders Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Carlo Ancelotti's side visit north London on 8 April (20:00 BST), before travelling to the Bernabeu for the second leg on 16 April (20:00 BST.
