It's a long series, England should loose this test, but will look for a much better batting effort to gain confidence for the next match.

KP's 100th test obviously.

Will be looking to make a mark.

In his first test, against Australia he got 2 50's inc a not out.
In his 50th test, against the West Indies, he got a 100, off 90 odd deliveries.

Ball's seaming everywhere, outfield's painfully slow, nothing going with England.

That was a beauty by Siddle, how did that missed the timber?

KP living a charmed life.

England need to take the shine off the ball, things will get a lot easier then.

I am banking Lyon to trouble England more than seamers.

Supporting my country of living England here for a change ...lets go lads :)

Been hugely impressed with Johnson so far. Very quick and accurate. Don't think England will last long against him

Woah, Nasser Hussain just reveals that this match is Alistair Cook's 96th consecutive Test match out of a career of 98 Test matches played.

All Australian grounds seems to be much bigger compared to other countries.

Well that's just because of historical reasons.
Australian cities were very new when stadiums first started been built so plenty of space was allocated.

They also get the crowds to justify large capacities especially because most of the stadiums are shared with the AFL

Wicket is easy to bat on once your set, England have a chance of these two stay there.

KP had a few close moments early on, but all good now.

Cook looking solid!

It's funny how a lot of people were saying England have a chance to draw this game half way through yesterday's play after seeing Warner and Clarke bat, most people were like its a complete flat track nothing for the bowlers and won't has flattened out more since day 1 and now they saying it's difficult to bat on. Credit to Australian bowlers they bowled good 1st innings and now again at the moment. And England's batting had been poor for few years now just no intent and too defensive.

Slow outfield not helping England's cause. Good square cut by Cook, in the end they did well to run 3.

what a silly shot by KP. The field is set for that.

Johnson putting up a MoM performance here

Talk about knee-jerk, where were you when England were piling on the runs a few months back?

Australia get another 4 wickets today and job is done but looks like England will be around 8 down at best.

KP just couldn't resist. I was hoping for a swashbuckling innings, of the headingley ilk.

I have been following cricket for too long so can't miss few months. And if you talking about the last Ashes series then I didn't see England piling on runs they struggled to get around 300 on most occasions and it was thanks to Australia's poor batting and some odd umpiring decisions they won convincingly not because they were piling on runs.
And don't think you been following England's cricket because if you was then you would know how their batting has been struggling for last few years. It's because of their bowling they been winning most games last few years.
Please check facts then talk about something.

Mitchell Johnson has already taken 6 wickets and scored over a 100 runs in this test. Is this one of the greatest all round performances by anyone in a single test match?

Shot selection has been rubbish from England, this Test is done but I expect them to come back hard for the next 4.

No denying that their bowling is their primary area of strength but you're speaking as if their batting's irrelevant to their success. So you say they "struggled to get around 300 on most occasions"?

First test: 215, 375 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013/engine/current/match/566932.html

Second Test: 361, 349 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013/engine/current/match/566933.html

Third Test: 368 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013/engine/current/match/566934.html

Fourth Test: 230, 338 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013/engine/current/match/566935.html

Fifth Test: 377 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013/engine/current/match/566936.html

6/8 completed innings were scores of 300+ and you claim they struggled to get 300? Pretty funny for you to state I don't follow English Cricket lol.

Ouch!

Siddle gets Bell. Aus should try to finish it today.

I am surprised that people were thinking that Poms can win this when Cook and KP were there.

Chasing anything over 300 is never easy , even you have good start , you need to keep going. A couple of quick wickets and you are in trouble.

Cook trying to cook something here , but unfortunately for him , there are no ingredients :D

We'll be back on in about half an hour

Edit: or not.

Bloody Queensland

Looks pretty wild. Might go into a 5th day now.

Cook is a fighter. Nice innings from him today, deserves not to lose.

Hopefully we can fight into tomorrow just to reverse the momentum a little bit.

Is Cook looking solid? He has to lead from the front.

Cook is looking solid. He gave only one half chance.

The Great Peter Siddle has bowled very very nicely in this Test. Sharp, tight and threatening.

Are you guys getting Billy Birmingham as well?

If Pattinson gets fit would you replace him with Johnson for the next test?

Pattinson won't be fit for Adelaide and really needs to complete some shield matches as well.

Adelaide's going to be a graveyard for bowlers. I'd almost consider resting Johnson and Harris but it would be a bad move to so obviously give up on a win

He won't be fit in time. MCG is a realistic comeback for Patto. Next Test is a bit of a dilemma for the selectors, they would like to rest Rhino from Adelaide so the grapevine says but I don't think any viable replacements are fit.

MJ will stay in. Doug the Rug is bowling pretty well so he might be back up for MJ.

I meant hypothetically.

Dougie! Haven't seen him since he was bowling 68mph custard pies at Collingwood 3 years ago.

Eng has to now bat faster to win this game.

Is killing it in domestic this season and Patto/Cummins/Starc/Bird/Hazelwood are all unfit.

Coulter-Nile's probably in front. Whenever a Western Australian does well they seem to get selected.

We would need a few more delays and some exceptionally good batting to save this.

Seeing as there are unlikely to be many more delays and also given that our batting these days is no longer exceptionally good, I'm still saying a 250-run win for Australia.

If anything this works in favor of England if this turns out to be an extended delay.
