Pakistan Cup 2016 had been a big success compared to the previous domestic versions. High scores and big chases were seen throughout the tournament. Plenty of new players turned up and performed with both bat and ball.

Here is my best xi from the tournament.

Playing XI:

Sami Aslam
Sahibzada Farhan
Umar Amin
Mohammed Hafeez
Shoaib Malik
Mohammed Rizwan-|-
Imad Wasim (C)
Fahim Ashraf
Aamer Yamin
Ghulam Mudassar
Mir Hamza

Bench Strength:

Fakhar Zaman
Fawad Alam
Ifthikar Ahmed
Sohail Khan
Rumman Raees

This squad is purely based on performance.

Bilal Asif in place of Hamza/Mudassir.

I need an offie here and he actually scored some decent runs.

Bilal Asif and Haris Sohail must be in the team if not in starting XI

Hafeez is decent enough for a offie i think.

And about haris, had to select from amin and haris. Amin has been consistent compared to haris.

Junaid khan, u akmal do not make it in your squad and rightly so. I think u r a better selector than inzy and co. And i hv no doubts that this squad will easily bash paks CT squad. Although i would like to replace rizwan as a batsman but hes in your team as a keeper so no problems there either.

So the guy who scored three fifties and one century in 5 matches is put on the bench.

Not taking players who are already part of National Team.

Sami Aslam
Sahibzada Farhan
Umar Amin
Haris Sohail
Rizwan
Imad Wasim
Aamir Yamin
Fahim Ashraf
Mohammad Nawaz
Rumman Raees
Ghulam Mudasair

1. Sami Aslam
2. Sahibzada Farhan
3. Umar Amin
4. Husain Taiat
5. Haris Sohail
6. Hafeez
7. Sarmad Bhatti
8. Amir Yamin
9. Imad
10. Ghulam Madassir
11. Pacer

This team will beat Pakistan's ODI XI ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. I think what I'm lacking is a keeper, would stuff someone in.

Good starting XI & a very good squad.

I think, the starting XI too pace heavy - I'll drop both Hamza & Mudassar to pick Usama for starting XI; a leggi is must for any ODI team these days. Gul actually bowled well with new ball, and he was economical in this run feast.

For bench, Sohail, Fawad & Iftekhar misses out for me - Ifti & Fawad's big innings was in losing course, while Ifti actually failed to post a winning total in his only big innings of 138*

Sami, Farhan, Amin, MoHa, Malik, Rizwan+, Imad*, Yamin, Fahim, Usama, Gul
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fakhar, Haris, Bilal, Raees, Mudassar.

I stand corrected - these dasy too many left-armer is plying for PAK which confused me - this team has 2 right arm pacers & they actually takes the new ball, therefore Raees comes in playing XI & Gul goes to bench. If Gul has a fitness issue (I think, for that he missed a match), Hamza comes.

Sarmad Bhatti based on what exactly?

The strike rates and averages were compared before slotting in the openers and if one of them fails in the given chances then yes we could swap one of the openers.

I hope pcb arranges a few matches between a Pakistan Cup XI and Pakistan Best XI as a practice match for the upcomming Champions Trophy. Maybe it would give a good comparison between my team and the inzi's XI hahaha.

About a certain Pakistan Cup XI vs Pakistan XI encounter, somebody could mail or post such a proposal to the pcb heirachy and maybe they would respond??

It will be very interesting to watch Pakistan National XI vs Pakistan Cup XI.
Of course Pak Cup XI is a weaker team, but some player could stand out against best players in the country..

Pak National X1
1. Azhar Ali
2. Ahmed Shehzad
3. Babar Azam
4. M Hafeez
5. Sarfraz Ahmed (C & W)
6. Shoaib Malik
7. Imad Wasim
8. Shadab Khan
9. M Amir
10. Hasan Ali
11. Junaid Khan

Pak Cup XI
1. Shahibzada Farhan
2. Sami Aslam / Fakhar Zaman
3. Umar Amin
4. Haris Sohail
5. Iftikhar Ahmed
6. M Rizwan (W)
7. Aamer Yamin
8. Bilal Asif
9. Fahim Ashraf
10. Umar Gul
11. Ghulam Mudassir

Yes looks a lot weaker on paper but I expect a good fight from the second XI. Farhan against the likes of amir and shadab would be good to watch and that could also be used to evaluate him against top notch bowlers. The likes of sami and amin could also be evaluated and maybe could use this to make some last minute changes to the squad??
Not sure why the pcb cannot see such opportunities for development. Inzi and co should do a little thinking on this. Would do a lot of good in the long term planning. I think India has a similar system where the ranji trophy winners play the rest of the teams best players or so.

Cup XI would easily loose man! :asif

Cup XI would easily loose man! :asif

Point is not winning or loosing. Point is to evaluate few players from Cup XI if they match int standards or not.

Imagine:
Farhan vs Amir
Sami Aslam vs Strike Rate
Umar Amin & Haris Sohail's temperment vs Hafeez - Malik
Aamer Yamin vs Babar Azam OR Aamer Yamin vs Amir/Junaid

Clearly put. This will be a golden opportunity to test these players and that in a high scoring pitch. Some may come good and some may not, but the point is this could help the selectors have a proper idea about the players.
