Very poor innings from Brook...looked nervous throughout

SRH will have Markram back and Brooks will sit out.

Markram and Philips alongwith the spinner Adil Rashid and pacer Jansen.

oh forgot Farooqui played. He may be dropped. They can draft in a spinner or seamer from India.

They would want Jansen in the team then. Gives a bit of batting which they don't have.

RR 203/5 (20)

SRH 131/8 (20)

Rajasthan Royals won by 72 runs

==

Top knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, followed by a four-wicket haul from Yuzvendra Chahal guided Rajasthan Royals to a thumping 72-run victory over SunRisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2023 match on Sunday.

Asked to bat first, RR posted a huge total after Buttler and Jaiswal smashed 54 runs each. Apart from them, Jason Holder and R Ashwin claimed one each.

Earlier, Sanju Samson (55 off 32), Jos Buttler (54 off 22) and Yashasvi Jasiwal (54 off 37) shone with the bat as RR posted a total of 203 for 5. RR got off to a flying start with Buttler firing on all cylinders.

Later, Jasiwal kept the side going after Buttler's wicket before Samson also came into the act. T Natarajan and Fazalhaq Farooqi were the pick of the bowlers with two wickets each to his names.

Conical knock from Rohit ends.

1(10) :)))

He is done and dusted. There is nothing more he can offer in T20's. But somehow he is the captain of Indian T20 side.
1(10) looks pathetic even in Test matches. But our hero Rohit does it in a T20 match :))

Topley having to go off injured while fielding

Tilak Verma has played well here , he would look to get the target to 155 - 160 here

Dislocated shoulder for Reece Topley, 2nd foreign player to sustain serious injury and we are only into the 3rd day of the IPL.

For earlier match:

England limited-overs captain Jos Buttler hit 54 in 22 balls as Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 72 runs in the Indian Premier League.

Buttler and opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal got off to a blistering start before the Englishman fell.

Jaiswal, who made 54, was then supported by 55 from captain Sanju Samson as the Royals posted 203-5.

They then restricted Hyderabad to 131-8 with Yuzvendra Chahal taking 4-17 and Trent Boult 2-21.

Buttler, 32, was the leading batsman in the IPL last season with 863 runs including four centuries as the Royals finished as runners-up.

Some of the team already looking ahead of others in terms of bench strength and squad.

All too easy for RCB that.

Won with 22 balls to spare.

Kohli leading the way with 82*

IPL cricket is welcomed back at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium with a resounding win for the hosts. A superb overall performance, their bowlers got them wickets in the powerplay, and then the spinners kept things tight. And then the spotless chase.

Faf du Plessis seems to be ageing like Benjamin Button, he is bringing all that SA20 form to the IPL and nobody is complaining. He couldn't quite stay till the end, but got RCB in such a strong position that they couldn't lose.

And of course there was Virat Kohli. He's a showman and he put on a show tonight at his adopted home ground. Kohli is back to playing with a smile on his face, picking up length early and some of those sixes just defined class. He stayed till the end although RCB lost a couple of wickets late on, to get the franchise home with almost four overs to spare.

I don't know how that Impact player rule is making any difference at all? It is just one extra bowler for the team bowling 2nd and one extra batter for the team batting 2nd and these two are not even their key bowlers or batters. What ****.

All the 5 games so far have been boring. Punjab v Kolkata was probably the best.

Awesome crowd for the RCB MI game. Karachites, watch and learn.

Not many young talents to look forward to in this IPL. All of them are either washed up hasbeens or players whom we have already seen countless times.

CSK, LSG, MI are all extremely boring teams.

It actually increase the value of pure bat/bowlers.. no longer needs services of bits n pieces..

Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants, 6th Match

Lucknow Super Giants have won the toss and have opted to field

Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): KL Rahul(c), Kyle Mayers, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran(w), Krishnappa Gowtham, Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur, Avesh Khan

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(w/c), Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, RS Hangargekar

Here are the Impact substitutes for both the teams:

Lucknow Super Giants subs: Ayush Badoni, Jaydev Unadkat, Daniel Sams, Prerak Mankad, Amit Mishra

Chennai Super Kings subs: Tushar Deshpande, Dwaine Pretorius, Subhranshu Senapati, Shaik Rasheed, Ajinkya Rahane

Wood is kind of bowler who can be expensive as he is too quick and you can use his pace. But still Dhoni's six against short and quick 150 kph was terrific for an old man like Dhoni. Hit the 2nd tier.

Lucknow is one of the top teams , I see them in the lay offs this year

Seems you take too many mushrooms dude , a team that scores just 50 runs with their elite unit ( klol raul , kornol pandya , hooda , etc) with a single champ kyle mayers scoring 53 off 20ish balls being 100- 4. This team will be bottom 5 , unless the other teams dont go worse

A team with Klol raul and krunal pandya can LOSE any match from Jaws of victory !

Super Giants need 91 runs in 44 balls.

Pooran has to play some exceptional innings here , for Lucknow to win the game

CSK has been doing good with Moeen Ali, they trust their players, don't too many chopes and replaces..

What a switch hit by Nicholas Pooran..

Barring the lefties, Calypso duo mayers pooran and badoni ...whole team is bunch of overrated out of formers. Never found krunal any good , less saud bout klol. Hooda was once in form few yrs back

Lucknow trying hard , but will fall a few runs short here , the target is pretty tough for them

Rahul is using IPL to get back his openers slot. But he is failing miserably. He should concentrate on keeping and middle order spot.

Maybe he shud just retire and manage Fil's restaurant / hotel business. Seen him play one good innings and then 20 rotten innings since a long time in tests and now in t20s . Last year his strike rate was nonsense too

Feel sad for Bishnoi. Young super talented , great strike rate and gets big wickets. Yet doesnt get selected for overrated spinners like ashwin who comes in to cover up a lineup of past by good date superstars like rohit rahul , ageing ones who need others spark ( kohli) ...and inconsistent hacks like sky hardik.

India wont get to semis if true talents like bishnoi isnt selected for t20/odi wc

England all-rounder Moeen Ali took 4-26 as Chennai Super Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs in the Indian Premier League.

Chasing 218, Lucknow raced to 79 in just 5.3 overs with Kyle Mayers hitting a 22-ball 53, before Moeen removed him and fellow opener KL Rahul for 20.

Moeen then got Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis, with Lucknow finishing 205-7.

Chennai made 217-7, with Ruturaj Gaikwad making 57 and England seamer Mark Wood taking 3-49.

England Test captain Ben Stokes surprisingly bowled one over for Chennai.

The all-rounder's bowling was expected to be limited during the competition after he had an injection in his troublesome left knee. He made it through his wicketless over unscathed - although conceded 18 runs.

Stokes, who was sold to Chennai for about £1.6m, made just eight with the bat, his second successive single-figure score after Chennai lost their opening game to defending champions Gujarat Titans.

But Chennai's 217 was set up by an explosive opening stand of 110 in 9.1 overs between Gaikwad and New Zealand's Devon Conway, who made 47.

Ambati Rayudu added 27 not out from 14 balls to propel Chennai past 200, with former India skipper MS Dhoni's consecutive sixes in the final over drawing the loudest cheers from his home crowd.

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi starred for Lucknow with 3-28, while Wood added to his wicket tally after taking 5-14 in Lucknow's opening win, but conceded more than 12 runs an over.

Lucknow were on top of the required run-rate in the opening powerplay, capitalising on loose bowling and short boundaries, but slipped from 79-0 to 82-3 as Deepak Hooda and Rahul fell in the space of three balls.

West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran struck an entertaining 32 from 18 balls, including three sixes, but the economical spin of Moeen and Mitchell Santner, who claimed 1-21, restricted the flow of runs effectively in the middle overs.

"It was a tough one because they've got a lot of big hitters so I was just trying to bowl like I would in Test cricket," said Moeen.

"It was really pleasing to get the win. It's always nice to put my hand up and win us some games."

Lucknow will be looking to bounce back against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, while Chennai take on Mumbai Indians the following day.

How has the speeds been? I read somewhere here that Umran bowled 152+ kph. That's fiery.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday reportedly informed his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders about his unavailability for the entire ongoing season due to international commitments and personal reasons. The KKR are now in the process of seeking a replacement for the all-rounder.

At a time when the adorable pitch invader became the talk of the town for interrupting the action-packed match between Chennai and Lucknow at Chepauk, former Indian skipper Gavaskar launched a tirade on-air following the slight delay into the IPL 2023 match. "This is just not acceptable... this delay. I mean, whoever has let this dog in, it's not on. Chasing it is not going to help," Gavaskar said on-air when as many as six ground staff members were busy chasing the dog at Chepauk.

RCB looks set for another playoff qualifications.

Apart from Chennai and Mumbai, they must be having more playoffs( or Top 4) qualifications than any other team.

SRH should have included their net bowler Waseem Bashir, a 22-year old pacer from Kashmir, who probably bowls over 150+ kmph

Street dogs. They are everywhere in India. Third world problems.

Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans, 7th Match

Gujarat Titans have won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): Prithvi Shaw, David Warner(c), Mitchell Marsh, Rilee Rossouw, Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel, Abishek Porel(w), Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Wriddhiman Saha(w), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya(c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Joshua Little, Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph

Prithvi Shaw is probably the most hyped batsman I've seen to come out of the U19 cricket and yet is by far the least technically sound batsman I have seen come out of India. The lack of feet movement and any sense of technique when playing shots leaves a bad taste in ones mouth when watching him bat and then get out atrociously.

Indians. Enough population to watch it even if it was for 5 months.

Nope man..2 months of IPL is just a lot. It should ideally be a 5-6 weeks competition. Any tournament shouldn't be that long..8-10 league games should be enough.

Abhishek Porel reminds me of Upul Chandana. Long last brothers from different mothers?
