when the ball doesn't do anything you rely purely on pace variation. Execution of pace variation is not easy for all. Unless the bowling of opposition is significantly stronger than England's it is very hard to beat them.

Well India has done that for a long time now. Australia have been pretty **** poor except the last two tours. India did that in Australia recently and i guess you didn't figure out that we didn't have to chase 300 + much due to our bowling. Also if you had the scored 300+ we would have chased that score in the second match of Asia cup against you in your own home but supposedly you couldn't score that many runs.

But you rating Austaralia just because they beat you 5-0 is quite funny.
