ENG 450-9 & Declare.

Indians all out for 300.

Next match:

Pooja Dropped,
Rahane Dropped.

In comes:

Gill & Ashwin..

Back to normalcy, this is why i hate Kohli’s PR campaigns whoever does it.

I recall we were 1-0 up in 2014 as well and went on to lose the series.

Ashwin for a batsman? I dont think it will happen. Might come in for a seamer if pitch allows

India lost their focus completely after that brilliant Lord's win. Did they celebrate too much? Perhaps

India’s win at Lords has made them sleep at the wheel.

Poor batting and now poor bowling - who on earth told them to bowl short and wide at Headingly ?

You always pitch it full length, even if it doesn’t swing.

But you never bowl it short of a length.

Just dreadful planning and poor execution.

100%.

And they didn’t prepare or do their homework on how to bat and bowl on this particular ground.

It wasn’t rocket science but seems like they just thought turn up and it will be enough against this weak England side.

The biggest travesty with this collapse is that if Kohli drops Pujara next test, it's going to be embarrassing for him as he has probably worse performance than Pujara this series. That means we will go in with a non performing middle order for the rest of the series too. Not that I think anyone's going to come in and make a difference. Shaw and Mayank have flawed techniques while SKY is unknown in the test format.

17 runs lead by Poms so far , India would be happy to keep England within 125 runs lead at most

Gill's no longer on tour due to injury, he returned to India before the first test.

Think India's best middle-order options right now are Vihari and Suryakumar Yadav.

Dropping big names is not as easy as it looks , selectors may face big back lash if new players do not perform.

In a way I am glad, there wont be any stupid drama antics by Siraj in this innings, he is walking with his head down and tail between his legs.... Ohhh how humbling to watch :))

haseeb hameed is going to make a cagey 50/100 which will push start his career, he is much better than we have seen on the international stage, ive seen him live a few times on the county circuit his technique looks as good as any batsmen going

Killer

I'm truly amazed by what I'm seeing.

Get three slips in and start pitching it up...
But they keep balling good length which is short on this track.

Also surprised there's been absolutely zero reverse swing with the in beating down and a dry wicket

Cricket is a game of intent and confidence. Just look at how England openers are batting today after India got bowled out cheaply. Body language is so underrated.

Siraj reminding the crowd that India are winning 1 0 after copping some stick from the fans.

India always have 1 bad test in a series, so england shouldnt get to carried away with match position there in at moment.

This isnt a bad test so far , its day 1 but from all my time watching test cricket, I have never seen such humiliation after winning the toss.

England shouldnt have lost the previous test, this is a hyped up Indian side.

Innings defeat within 4 days look certain from here.

Ha, Ha, Ha, Kohli will go to bed tonight crying his eyes out, love to see the Indian cricket team being embarrassed!

India got all out for 36 against Aussies and went on to win the series. I am getting same vibes. This is Kohli's Team India

Perfect day for England.

It will take one hell of a performance from India to get anything out of this match.

4 days? It will be over in 3 days. :inti

Where are my fellow Indian fans? I can see only Pakistani posters here. Why do they disappear when the going gets tough? :inti

Weather looks good also for the next few days.

Big 2nd innings needed from India - probably will need to bat in excess of 2 days.

All the English bowlers bowled with high skill & precision. Anderson was in a leadership role here and was tactically brilliant.
High class performance from England, always known theyre miles ahead of India.
You need extraordinary technical ability or extraordinary heart to survive what England produced today. Rohit was unlucky but he did show grit.

If i were the indian captain, i wouldve sent a pinch hitter to bat up the order. Kohli was certainly spooked today.

It feels like this time English have taken it personally against Virat. Im quite happy about this - he had it coming. There was a subtle cultural undertone here.

Anyhoo, this is the drawback of having a mentally unstable bloke as captain. The bully was humiliated, and the entire team paid the price for it.

India outclassed, Rohit Sharma's innings was just bizzare. India just for some reason have a brain fade here and there. It happened against us in the final of CT17, against Aus in Aus and now here.

I think most of us were expecting 90/3 kinda score with Root battling against Indians.

But I guess English openers had other plans.

Tough luck India, rest, sleep and regroup! :vk

Just the perfect day for England after losing the toss.

England 120-0 well played, i expected england 120 All out.

Echos of the Pakistan of the 90s.

10 years ago maybe? ;)

Well England had Cook for most of those.

I heard that of the previous 25 season innings, England had opening stands of fifty just twice. Twelve times, a wicket fell with four or fewer runs on on the board.

The English boys absolutely spanked the self proclaimed best attack in the world making them chase leather all afternoon. Always great to see India being crushed having a terrible day with bat, ball and in the field. The Indian batting was made to look childish by the great Jimmy Anderson removing one after the other without a care in the world. Then the best attack in the world ever we are told by biased Indian's did not even look like taking a wicket, eh Shami??

England need to bat for the next two full days pulverising India killing their spirit then come out to finish the job off. Only thing that can stop England from leveling the series is the weather. "Virat what's the score. Virat, Virat what's the score!";-)

England and pakistan right now have the worst openers in test cricket. In general across the world i think the level of decent openers is at the lowest quality ive ever seen.

Blimey, don’t hold back :)))

There isn’t anyone, except the Kiwis.

Agreed they seem to be only side with a top class opening pair. Seem technically players are getting worse at top of the order.

i watched a programme with key, hussain and Athers saying how most players opening in county cricket are taking an off stump guard to combat swinging ball. That really does show how bad the game is getting.

Congratulations to English and more importantly, Pakistani fans.

Incredible performance by England - couldn’t have dreamed of a better day.

Mentally weak players like Hameed have also capitalized on the dominance of England and joined in for some soft runs.

A golden opportunity for a maiden hundred after he inevitably fails in the future under real pressure.

This match is done and dusted - India needs to delete this from their heads and treat the next two Tests as a two match series.

They are a better side than England and if they bring their A game, they should still win the series.

Does the Indian fan want some tissues to dry his eyes?

So because India failed with bat, Hameeds runs are now soft? :)))

Seems like very good day for Pak fans.. hopefully India can control lead under 250 and couple of our guys scores daddy hundreds😝😝..

England's pacers came up with a sensational performance at Headingley to bowl India out for 78 before openers Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns ensured the hosts ended the day in a commanding position.

After losing eight consecutive tosses in England, Virat Kohli's fortunes finally turned around and he chose to bat first. India named an unchanged XI while England brought in Dawid Malan and Craig Overton for Dom Sibley and the injured Mark Wood.

James Anderson, as he has done so often for England, struck early in the innings and got the in-form KL Rahul nicking to Jos Buttler with a one that held its line after three consecutive inswingers.

Anderson and Buttler got in on the act again as Cheteshwar Pujara's lean run with the bat continued, once again tentatively pushing at the ball moving away.

Anderson was breathing fire in the first spell and got the better of Kohli, yet again with the out-swinger that Buttler gobbled up easily.

At the other end, Rohit Sharma was doing a great job at seeing out the new ball. Him and Ajinkya Rahane showed some resilience with a 35-run stand before Ollie Robinson dismissed the India vice-captain with a length ball at the stroke of lunch as Buttler added a fourth dismissal to his name.

Robinson struck once again at the other side of the break with Rishabh Pant again falling prey to the ball slanting away to make it five wickets for England and five catches for Buttler.

Rohit Sharma's 105-ball resistance too finally came to an end trying to play an awkward pull shot off Craig Overton that went straight into the hands of Robinson at silly mid-on. As has been the pattern in the series, one brought two for England as India's batting hero from the second innings at Lord's, Mohammad Shami, fell for a golden duck.

Sam Curran too was on a hattrick in the very next over with the wickets of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah off consecutive balls. Within a space of 10 minutes, India lost four wickets without adding a run on the scoreboard.

The last-wicket pair of Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma added 11 runs before Overton wrapped up India's innings for 78, their ninth-lowest total in Test cricket and their third-lowest in England.

The Indian bowlers could not extract the same purchase from the pitch as their English counterparts, failing to land the ball in the full lengths that troubled their batters earlier in the day. Openers Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns ensured that England went unscathed into tea while also managing to knock off 21 runs in the process.

The pair continued to bat serenely in the final session, hardly giving the Indian pacers an inch. Leaving the good deliveries, they capitalized on the bad ones to keep the scorecard ticking. Haseeb Hameed brought up his half-century, with Rory Burns soon following suit. They ensured that the hosts ended the day unscathed on a score of 120/0, leading by 42 runs.

Imagine being bowled out for 78 against an England C bowling attack😬

No Stokes
No Woakes
No Wood
No Broad
No Archer

Jeez…😬😬

Imagine the last time your team did not lose a Test match in Australia, Javed Miandad was still playing international cricket.

There are no limits to imagination.

Not soft. That is still a powerful attack, Shami in particular. Hameed looked strong, good technique and good temperament.

The best attack in the world could not even take a wicket all afternoon. England without so many top players bowled India out for 78. India would have struggled to reach 50 had Broad and Archer been playing. I think Shami meant England is the best attack in the world:shhh God save the Queen!:afridi Pak is not claiming to have the best bowling attack or batsmen in the world.

Indeed. The leader of the pack, Anderson showing the way.

What a bowler.

This looks like one of those wickets where Australia and England got rolled under 100.

The Indians looked at the shaved grass and thought it must be flat. But this wicket has a lot of moisture underneath and a moist wicket always seams around. This will get flatter as the moisture dries up under the sun as the days go on and so batting first was perhaps not the best decision imo since it tends to get flatter as the days go on at Leeds and the first day tends to be the most difficult for batting.

I overestimated our batting by 20 runs.

There is no sugar coating this.
India were utterly humiliated today.

100%.

Honestly speaking, I thought this Indian side is very professional discipled bunch of players who can dominate for a long long time. It came as an really unexpected thing for me.

No I don't think so. Look at all the players England are missing. England will go in to the next two tests as favourites if they win this one. Many Indian batters are mentally weak too like we witnessed today.

Good or bad, its our team and will always be our team. A glory hunter like will back anyone that you think might win.

After escaping with a win in the 1st test against a depleted England team, India is finally back to where they belong.

Congratulations to English and more importantly, Pakistani fans.

You do realize Haseeb Hameed is Indian origin, right? He's not Pakistani. Surprised by your reaction towards him tbh.
