Neville in for Haddin
Reports are Watto out for Marsh but Clarke isn't releasing the team until the toss, after about five years we have learnt not to announce the team a week before the game.
Rumours that the Beard will miss for Rashid, who may or may not have a beard.

Morning RA, sacrificing morning sleep for Ashes - nothing comes better than a Test match on good wicket.

Is it a good decision to bat on overcast Lords against this English side with Moeen as the spinner? Weather forecast is good for Day 2 & 3; wasn't it a good idea to bowl first? The Southampton wicket was a confirmed bat first wicket, not sure about this one..........

Bat first. Always, always, always.

Total overcast here, but the cloud is high and may burn off in the afternoon session. Looks like a good batting track if AUS get through Jimmy and Broad with the new ball. AUS have an excellent record here, excepting 2013.

Can someone post teams!

England Team
A Lyth, AN Cook*, GS Ballance, IR Bell, JE Root, BA Stokes, JC Buttler†, MM Ali, SCJ Broad, MA Wood, JM Anderson

Australia Team
CJL Rogers, DA Warner, SPD Smith, MJ Clarke*, AC Voges, MR Marsh, PM Nevill†, MG Johnson, MA Starc, JR Hazlewood, NM Lyon

Best possible line up for Australia, passengers finally dropped. Now we can see what Englishmen are made of, lightning doesn't strike twice. #GoAussies

Chance of sun rising tomorrow = 1%, chance of sun going nova overnight 99%

I always thought the Kangaroos played rugby league, not cricket

in for some more epic regrets, so be careful with your OTT predictions

Match was there for the taking, too bad Aussies didn't capitalize on the opportunity to chase that target. There were no demons in the pitch as demonstrated by Johnson later in the day. Sometimes you've to play sensibly and not being reckless but sadly Aussies employed the later strategy. Not time time around because this time its gonna be convicts all over poms in an unforgettable thrashing, #SupermanSaysSo

MoS is either laughably ignorant of test cricket, or a troll. Ignore in either event.

What is wrong here, warner playing like roger and roger like warner, i am taking about strike rates. Anyone have any guess what the reason?

Seriously, the Aussie team looks better on paper. They were overconfident at Cardiff and got mugged. That is what happens in test cricket.

Warner's in shocking form and Rogers is in better form and is pretty used to Lord's conditions give he used to Captain Middlesex.

And of course the entire team is pretty much NSW and Bayliss knows their games inside out.

Warner seems like hes prepared to play himself in during the inns in this series so far rather then been gun ho from the start.

nah this thread would be so boring without his hilarious predictions and claims. So MOS keep them anti poms predictions coming.

But do you really think warner need more defensive approach to be a success Convict because mostly it is has fearless aggressive approach which have served him well so far. Or is it just due to his poor form?

There is a difference between being aggressive and reckless, sometimes Warner employs the later and lose his wicket very early. But now seems like he has learned from his shortcomings and is prepared to take his time and build his innings slowly and then step on accelerator once set.

I think Warner only works one way and he should go back to what worked in the last Ashes, worked in South Africa and what was credible in the UAE

Cook and Clarke have now skippered their sides against each other eleven times in the Ashes, a record. Cook has four wins, Clarke five, all nine at home, none away.

Vorn reckons this track is going to get quicker and take spin. Good toss to win if so.

Sensible batting from Warner. Play out the new ball and then look to counter. If he goes gung ho against the duke ball, he'll be back in the dressing room every time.

Simply Majestic by Warner, Surely this strategy of preparing dead phatta road will backfire this game.

Warner has his eye in and looks good. Looks a cracking wicket to bat on. Could be near 400 on day 1.

Dopey from Warner.....

Making same mistake as India last summer....no need to recklessly attack Moeen.

He will give a bad ball every other over, and can easily be milked. No need to try and whack him out of the attack.

Being positive and aggressive is fine as long as you stay in your limits and give proper respect to some balls but the problem with Warner is sometimes he is overly aggressive which brings about his demise.

Aussies are going to gift alot of wickets to moeen Ali if they are going to be over aggresive, why not just sit in and wait for all the bad balls which will always be there to be hit?

79/1

Aussies should be in a strong position if they get to lunch only 1 wicket down.

These young Aussies only seem to know one way to play. They should dig in more often and wait the bowlers out like AB and Tugga.

100 up for Aussies and in pretty quick time as well...

Nothing wrong with being aggressive/positive - seems England have adopted that mantra too.

But you have to be smart about it - he had already hit 2 boundaries that over, and Moeen is a bowler who will give you freebies. No need to go after everything.

So far so good. England cheating with the overrate again.

Well, Chef will get fined again then.

England are going to have to bowl tight here and wait. This will not be easy. Australia should get 500.

Jimmy is a fantastic bowler. As an Aussie would love him on our side

This is a war of attrition at present. Something has to give.

Pitches are so different than that we had in lords last year. Greentop against India, flat-track against Australia - 'selective doctoring' at its best.

PS- we too do doctoring, but we never did this kind of 'selective doctoring' against any particular opposition. Pathetic.
