Too many trundlers in Indian team. Need someone to wipe off the tail.
India messed up there. The tail wagged alot. Advantage india still but its a mere shadow of the advantage they possessed.
Its a useless advantage.
Basically no advantage.
Good to know we'd have avoided the whitewash then.
Its a useless advantage.
Basically no advantage.
100 runs is definitely not useless. India should bat two sessions tomorrow and score 200 runs or a bit more and give England 5 sessions to chase a gettable target.
Both teams will be in it but India will be in the stronger position. I don't know if Dhoni will agree with me or no.
If you want to win overseas, you must capitalize on your chances.
Who knows this test may be a draw and in the next test, a similar chance can come to England and they may grab it with both hands.
Sure technically its advantage India but this doesn't mean that much considering how the pitch is. Plus when we had them at 202-7, we should have closed it. At least we should have closed it when we had them at 298-9.
There is a problem with us. Right from the time I started watching cricket, we always let the tail wag and turned wins into draws and draws into losses.
The same thing happens series after series. Take 2010 India's tour of SA for eg - If we hadn't let SA lower order wag in 2010, we would easily won our first test series in SA (2-1). But that didn't happen. We allowed SA to take a draw from a tough position. Its a problem we have which will always prevent us from doing well overseas. Atleast as well as we should.
SA were 130/6 and Boucher who was in woeful form throughout the series suddenly came back to form. Another one of those missed opportunities. It seems like we are almost afraid of winning in SA and Australia. Even in 2004, we should have won the Sydney test, that time we were denied by some poor keeping by the great Parthiv. We are just happy with the drawn series or match instead it should be the last resort if you are unable to win a series or a match.
Sachin scored that crazy brilliant 146 in Cape Town to setup not just a overseas test match win but a series win.

Well since we did not win that one...there will be some people who will be calling it a useless innings as it did not result in a win...
India somewhat gave away a huge advantage to win the match.
Story of our team.
We are rubbish.
I miss Anil, the guy was amazing with the tail...He was India's best bowler to tailenders. We don't have a bowler like him who can dismiss the tail fast. I am imagining Anil of the last 5-6 years before retirement when he was brilliant even overseas, how much difference it would have made in that test in SA or in NZ. We don't have spinner of his caliber anymore.
True. Ashwin can slowly turn into him.
But they dropped him for Binny. If Trent Bridge of the old (green track) was there, I could understand.
But here its a crime. We are playing with 10 players and 1 fielder.
Hey, Shami and Bhuvi gave you guys close to a hundred runs in this test. if any team deserves to have some tail wagged against them, its India.
Can someone tell me why Binny is in the team?
Jadeja gave your seamers a good rest compared to Moeen who kept getting smashed everytime he came on which forced Cook to keep two seamers on most of the time. Jadeja did a decent jobBut it happens to India all the time. Generations come and go but this remains constant.
Words can't describe the anguish of an Indian fan.
Binny is there cos Trent Bridge historically has the record of being a spinners graveyard. Even if the wicket was hard and dry, it didn't have to assist spinners a lot. Jadeja's figures show that.
The only use for Ashwin in this test would have been that he could have chipped with a few overs so that our pacers could have got ample rest and charged back. Since Binny got smashed, we didn't have that luxury.
So basically we sacrificed a batsman to go with 5 bowlers on a dead track but ended up playing with 4 bowlers and 1 batsman less (with Binny's batting being a question mark - he did look good while batting but he defeated the whole purpose of his selection - that is to help the main pacers catch their breath).

Yeah i agree totally Binny has been useless Ashwin would have been a much better bet on this type of pitch. Binny at his pace and skill level can only be effective on a green mambaOf course. No question about that. Without him, India would have never achieved what it did today.
The point is if Ashwin was there, he would have also done that job. Definitely not as good as Jadeja but he would have been more useful than Binny.
