India messed up there. The tail wagged alot. Advantage india still but its a mere shadow of the advantage they possessed.

Its a useless advantage.

Basically no advantage.

Its weaker advantage in comparison with the previous one and has bitter taste. Let me tell you. you can blow the top order away for zero runs but if the tail makes a stand it can have a very very de-moralizing effect. Hopefully Dhoni keeps the morale high. Ishant and sharma must be feeling really low with binny

100 runs is definitely not useless. India should bat two sessions tomorrow and score 200 runs or a bit more and give England 5 sessions to chase a gettable target.

Both teams will be in it but India will be in the stronger position. I don't know if Dhoni will agree with me or no.

If you want to win overseas, you must capitalize on your chances.

Who knows this test may be a draw and in the next test, a similar chance can come to England and they may grab it with both hands.

Sure technically its advantage India but this doesn't mean that much considering how the pitch is. Plus when we had them at 202-7, we should have closed it. At least we should have closed it when we had them at 298-9.

There is a problem with us. Right from the time I started watching cricket, we always let the tail wag and turned wins into draws and draws into losses.

The same thing happens series after series. Take 2010 India's tour of SA for eg - If we hadn't let SA lower order wag in 2010, we would easily won our first test series in SA (2-1). But that didn't happen. We allowed SA to take a draw from a tough position. Its a problem we have which will always prevent us from doing well overseas. Atleast as well as we should.

SA were 130/6 and Boucher who was in woeful form throughout the series suddenly came back to form. Another one of those missed opportunities. It seems like we are almost afraid of winning in SA and Australia. Even in 2004, we should have won the Sydney test, that time we were denied by some poor keeping by the great Parthiv. We are just happy with the drawn series or match instead it should be the last resort if you are unable to win a series or a match.

Sachin scored that crazy brilliant 146 in Cape Town to setup not just a overseas test match win but a series win.

Well since we did not win that one...there will be some people who will be calling it a useless innings as it did not result in a win...

What are you talking about.

It was a useless innings. We did not win. That's what matters. Details don't matter.

Story of our team.

We are rubbish.

I miss Anil, the guy was amazing with the tail...He was India's best bowler to tailenders. We don't have a bowler like him who can dismiss the tail fast. I am imagining Anil of the last 5-6 years before retirement when he was brilliant even overseas, how much difference it would have made in that test in SA or in NZ. We don't have spinner of his caliber anymore.

True. Ashwin can slowly turn into him.

But they dropped him for Binny. If Trent Bridge of the old (green track) was there, I could understand.

But here its a crime. We are playing with 10 players and 1 fielder.

Can't believe Indians let Clouderson score 23 runs. Someone bowl a bouncer at his head!

Hey, Shami and Bhuvi gave you guys close to a hundred runs in this test. if any team deserves to have some tail wagged against them, its India. :yk

Can someone tell me why Binny is in the team?

Yeah it seems like except for the Indian think tank everyone knew that this was going to be a flat track. Ashwin in the place of Binny would have been ideal for India as he would have score some runs too.

Shame on dhoni , Couldnt close this out despite getting Prior with a howler.

Last time , at least there was a drs with hotspot

Now , there is No DRS and also with Umpires in his/srini pocket , still a fail.

What else can they do a to break their over 3 year winless streak abroad ?

But it happens to India all the time. Generations come and go but this remains constant.

Words can't describe the anguish of an Indian fan.

Binny is there cos Trent Bridge historically has the record of being a spinners graveyard. Even if the wicket was hard and dry, it didn't have to assist spinners a lot. Jadeja's figures show that.

The only use for Ashwin in this test would have been that he could have chipped with a few overs so that our pacers could have got ample rest and charged back. Since Binny got smashed, we didn't have that luxury.

So basically we sacrificed a batsman to go with 5 bowlers on a dead track but ended up playing with 4 bowlers and 1 batsman less (with Binny's batting being a question mark - he did look good while batting but he defeated the whole purpose of his selection - that is to help the main pacers catch their breath).

Jadeja gave your seamers a good rest compared to Moeen who kept getting smashed everytime he came on which forced Cook to keep two seamers on most of the time. Jadeja did a decent job

Of course. No question about that. Without him, India would have never achieved what it did today.

The point is if Ashwin was there, he would have also done that job. Definitely not as good as Jadeja but he would have been more useful than Binny.

In the last session, our pacers were tired and that is what Ashwin could have prevented.

Yeah i agree totally Binny has been useless Ashwin would have been a much better bet on this type of pitch. Binny at his pace and skill level can only be effective on a green mamba

England v India | 1st Test | Day 4 | 12 July | Trent Bridge

England's last-wicket stand now past 70.

game is over for india they can just draw from here... england chances looking better now

India have picked up the chances of an assured win and threw it away. Their tail completely destroyed indian bowling. This is frustrating for me and i am not even fan. WTH india?

Root, anderson you beauties. Root what a century. One of the best rearguard hundreds. Might have just revived his team and gave them a shot at winning this.

Is there any way that both the team lose this series? :P
Actually i want both teams' Test captains to go.

Comment on cric info:

Aalhad Kulkarni: "What is more surprising? Fact that
this bowling attack cannot take the last wicket? Or the
fact that this attack managed to take 9 wickets?"

Shantanu: "England score is 404 now. MSD must be thinking "Error 404: wicket not found" Very good

This was hilarious :)))

Dumb defensive Dhoni deserves all that has befallen him this morning.

Batted Jimmy. Now has the highest score by an England #11 in tests, passing John Snow.

DROPPED!! Can you guys take your chances here. Just goes to show you how de-moralized the team is when a fine keeper like dhoni spills those.

David 'Bumble' Lloyd ‏@BumbleCricket

Dhoni left field . Play should have continued with one of fielders wicket keeping .. It's very very simple

Zorro: "Time to discuss alternative careers for Dhoni now? I will vote for Dhobi with helicopter wash."

:))) :)))

Great fightback by Engarrlaand. Hopefully Jimmy doesn't start crying at the end on this one :))

Closing in on a 150 run partnership for the last wicket now. Must be a record surely?

How embarrassing if you're an Indian fan regardless how poor the pitch is. Now I understand why Australia and South Africa are the best test teams in the world because they finish off the tail in moments unlike the joker India.

I'll laugh if Anderson scores a 100. Will definitely confirm how much of a joke and utterly rubbish Indian bowling really is.

150 partnership. Astonishing.

Surely England cannot go into the lead?

Is this real life? I woke up expecting a valiant effort ending with an 80 run deficit or so. Jimmy scores a 50? This must be the the flattest highway that they could ship from India.

what is going on lol! they are 4 runs away from the all-time 10th wk pship
