What's new

England v India | 3rd Test | The Oval | [9/8/07]

130.3 Pietersen to Dhoni, SIX!!, delivery looped up on the middle and leg, curving into the right hander, Dhoni comes down the track and smashes it over mid wicket for a monstrous six, what a shot that is, mighty hit that, you can't have fielders in the air!!!

again

130.4 Pietersen to Dhoni, SIX!!, flattish delivery on the middle and leg, angling into the right hander, Dhoni stays there and smashes it over between midwicket and long on for another six, back to back biggies for this man, he is setting the ground on fire here!!!

Dhoni moves to 92 with 2 sixes.
Goes for the 3rd six and gets ct at deep midwicket
Entertaining inning comes to an end
Ind 508-7

Looks like a hundred for an Indian batsman just isn't supposed to happen in this series, perhaps one of the bowlers can put this right?

Well played to Dhoni, though he'll be kicking himself for getting carried away!

Dhoni - 92 in 2 hours
Kartik - 91 in 3.5 hours
Tendulkar - 82 in 7 hours

The mathematician in me says that the above data shows that Tendulkar took 1.27 times the amount of time to make 44.8% of the runs scored by India's keeper duo

Sidebottom is now injured, and Simon Jones is injured again. More fantastic news for English cricket.

Ind 526-7
New record for highest team total without a century. Previous was 521 or 524 by India against NZ in 1976-77

141.1 Panesar to Kumble, FOUR!!, Panesar tosses it up on the stumps, slanting into the right hander, Kumble comes down the track and smashes it straight down the ground, past Panesar on that occasion, lovely bit of timing, he is no smug with the bat, mind you!!!

Sidebottom is probably refusing to come out and bowl while Prior is still behind the sticks, been England's best bowler this series even if the numbers might not fully reflect that fact.

50 parternership up for Kumble and Zaheer
For Zaheer to get 50 will probably mean Kumble gets his first 100. The commentators said that Kumble is #2 in runs without a 100. Leader is Warne with 3000 some test runs and Kumble has 2000 some

7th 50 run partnership in the innings. has never happened before

India 559-7

Tea break

118 runs in the last session despite Kumble and Zaheer Khan batting for for 17 overs and only scoring 51 runs.

India planning to bat until they are bowled out?

Yes and that is what they should be doing/thinking. They don't need to worry about wining the match but be in position not to lose it. The pitch is going to be good for Kumble and Tendu bowling and they haven't gone past the stage that it will be a draw so India has a good chance to win it too

players back on the field

I havent seen such good score card, everybody have made the runs, even England is one short of their 50 ( extras :D ) .....

Zaheer going for a big hit and out ct at mid off. Panesar gets a wicket
Ind 570-8

This match is going to be like Faridabad in Scorelines.....but the pitch had a lot more in it of course. I think we are on course to see a Vaughan and KP special on this kind of a pitch.

Looks like the pitch is gonna be trouble for England. The wicket Monty took pitched on a good line and 'bit' the surface with dust coming off.

Any chance England trying to win the match? They may declare around 450+ then try and bowl out India cheaply. Thats the only way I can think they can have any chance of winning this match and have to score around a strike rate of 70+

another partnership of 50 as Extras get another single

154.1 Panesar to Kumble, 1 run, flighted delivery on the middle and leg, Kumble comes on the frontfoot and drives it to long on for an easy single\

oh no... kumble is exposing the tail to England bowlers...hah!

25 overs left in the day. Maybe a declaration in 8-10 overs or if they get to 600 (unless Kumble is really close to 100)
Ind 581-8

155.1 Tremlett to Kumble, FOUR!!, fuller length delivery on the off, Kumble gives himself room by going outside the leg stump and smashes it to long off, through the fielder inside the circle and it goes all the way!!!

Ian Chappell in the commentary box has sent an SMS to Warne, and Warne is said to be watching with concern - Warne's top test score is 99 and he's not going to enjoy it if Kumble gets a hundred here lol.

India's batsmen might be struggling to reach 3 figures but 3 of England's bowler have achieved that target and the 4th is in the 90's, injured or not I think he deserves the chance to bring it up.

sreesanth sent ball to boundary...

156.5 Anderson to Sreesanth, FOUR!!, short of length delivery outside the off stump, enough of width and Sreesanth latches onto in a flash, Sreesanth goes on the backfoot and cuts it to deep backward point for four, cracker of a shot!!! that went like a tracer bullet, he is off the mark straightaway!!!

Smacking Monty back over his head for 6 is pretty emphatic. Kumble playing beautifully.

Cricinfo - "If England were to win from this position it would set a new world record of the highest first-innings total to lose, which was previously 586 by Australia at Sydney in 1894. Unlikely though."

157.4 Panesar to Kumble, SIX!!, Panesar tosses it up on the leg, no real spin off the deck on that occasion for Panesar, Kumble comes down the track and smashes straight down the ground, up and over for a biggie!!! he is in sublime touch today!!!

And India Cross 600 - I wonder how many times they have crossed 600 AWAY from the sub-continent

Will kumble become highest scorer of indian batting lineup???

Sreesanth hits 2 4s v Jimmy Anderson. All batsmen in double figures now.

160.3 Anderson to Sreesanth, FOUR!!, yorker length delivery outside the off stump, holding it's line on that occasion, Sreesanth opens the face of the bat and steers it down to third man for four, educated edge infact on that occasion, all well till they keep coming good!!!

if he does, i wont be that amazed. he does average 18..
i mean, gillespie scored a double hundred v bangladesh once!

i mean even the greatman hasn't made a century and has fallen on the the 80s and 90s one time to too many this series
