Should open the bowling with Anderson and Moeen. Only way to win this is to get three quick wickets with Kohli being one of them.

Junaid and Azhar are not mediocre and have several years in front of them. Enough with this rubbish. Moeen has everything needed to become a quality player.

He is an inferior ODI bowler to James Tredwell and his batting too is extremely poor against pace. He has a lot to improve on if he wants to be an ODI regular for England.

Based on what? He was always rated as a better ODI bowler than a test bowler and has done very well in the couple of games that he has played.

He is good against pace, it is spin that he struggles against at times.

still shes a lot better option that Cook

Finn has really fallen off since he faced off against us in the UAE.

he is worse than amla in ODIs.... and that says a lot. will get exposed by quality pacers.

Amla is one of the best batsmen in the world and will end up as one of the best ever. Truly a pathetic post but expected because, you're the guy who was humiliated by Amla in the past and had to have "Amla is better than Kohli" as his signature. :))

Get dhawan early he is out of form as is Kohli. 2 wickets down before 20 runs and we will have a game on our hands

wow what a shot Rahane

Dhawan better play his shots while hes there

LOL at Anderson getting destroyed. Released all the pressure.

I cannot believe how classy some of Rahane's shots are. Reminds me of Tendu.

Anderson should consign himself to only play home tests.

agree. Its time hes made a permanent opener.much better than Rohit

Both should be playing.

Cook is proving to be a huge liability for England, with bat and with his captaincy. Moeen should have opened the bowling.

I prefer Dhawan to Rohit as atleast he can give a quick start.both equally poor though

England getting pasted again in an ODI game, was wondering when they would go back to being mediocre.

India should try to win this by 10 wickets. Just woke up, looked like England is on a 3-0 defeat lol

Rohit should bat in the middle order, if Rahane is a long-term opener.

Things are too easy for India, not even Super-Mo can snatch victory from their jaws. Anderson's horrible over was the turning point.

Cook ain't going nowhere. He won an Ashes series so that makes him God. In all formats.

The problem is that the only spot Rohit can play in the Indian ODI side is either 1 or 2. If Rahane does well opening, I don't see Rohit deserving a spot in the middle order. He is simply not good enough at number 5 or 6.

161, 227 and 206 Engarrlaand seems to have gone for a snooze after the Test series.

Should replace Rayudu.

Should replace Rayudu.

That would be unfair on Rayudu...to be frank, Rayudu and Rohit offer the same things to Indian team. There is no point in playing Rohit at that spot as he is not going to do anything different. Rohit does not offer anything more than what Rayudu can and Rayudu is also a part-time wicket keeper.

Rohit has more experience, is a better fielder and can bowl part-time spin. A part-time keeper offers no utility.

Kedhar Jadhav must be selected for the squad.

Samson is another contender.

Hope these guys are tested for the WI and Aus tour.

Looks like Rahane is nailing that opening slot. More pressure on Dhawan and Rohit

Rayudu can bowl some spin too :)...The kind of mature innings Rayudu played against England in the second ODI, I have not seen Rohit do that in a long time...The only time Rohit has played anything like that was in 2011 WI tour where he was amazing. Most of the times you would see him throw his wicket away like he did in the first ODI. Rayudu needs to be given some opportunities, the guy is already 29 and has waited a long time to get a chance in the Indian team. He was once considered as one for the future but threw it away due to his own bad decisions. He is back now and needs to get a look in and backing which Rohit has had for ages. People complaining about Rayudu's SR should note that he has not played too many home games on flat tracks like Rohit yet.

Agreed.I can't see the point of Rayudu.Even though he did well last game,I don't see him doing well in Oz.I'd rather play Binny with Dhoni moving up who provides bowling option and bats at better pace.

Even if they want a specialist no.4,guys like Jadhav,Kartik and Samson are much better contendors.Heck even a washed Yuvi is

For God's sake I hope India gets to play more competitive cricket in the coming months. Useless matches like these make the team complacent

Rayudu has strike rotation issues.

Yes he deserves to be in the scheme of things but right for the preparation of WC, I don't think he is the No 4 for us.

Not sure about Rohit too (though that's the spot he might probably play when he comes back).

We really need a reliable batsman at No 4 who doesn't get bogged down.

After the Lord’s century, one common factor about your innings is that you get a start and then get out softly. Is it a lapse in concentration?

To be honest, I too am wondering why this is happening with me and that too, so often. I think I need to make a conscious effort to bat very tight once I reach that stage of my innings. Saying that, I also need to ensure I don’t stop scoring completely and keep the run-flow going. I generally have a good concentration level and the lapses don’t happen often. This is a very strange phase for me. But I know that it is just a matter of one innings before I get past this issue. Once I cross the 50-60 mark, I am pretty sure I can go on to score a big one.

Yes,he should be permanent there with one of Rohit and Dhawan

You tour Australia before the world cup

Binny ain't gonna be reliable. He will spoil the team composition.
Yuvi is finished.
Rayudu has strike rotation issues but is a gritty batsman.
Kartik has shown us enough times that he will throw it away even he is in superb touch. There is a reason he continues to average in the 20's in ODI.

Jadhav is a lower order batsman.
Samson can be tried but must be done fast. No 4 is not a place for only slam bang innings. One needs to knock the balls around, play out tough situations if the need arises and dunno whether Samson can do that.

We have a lot of testing to do.

From evidence on these threads they support Pakistan + Amla + Moeen Ali.

This is personaly and not this website as a whole. I would also add the following to your list in no particular order, past/present.

The Pathan bro's (IND), Mohammed Shami (IND) Mohammed Kaif (IND), Usman Khawaja (AUS), Owais Shah (ENG) Nasser Hussain (ENG)

I'm trying really hard but I just can't add Imran Tahir (RSA) to this list.

What is the problem? Just get Tredwell in for one of the pacers. Its not a crime to play two spinners.

Moeen Ali was effective in Tests because Indian batsmen were forced to go after him thanks to some terrific fast bowling from Anderson and Broad.

Indian batsmen are scoring freely off pacers here, so they don't feel obliged to take undue risks against Moeen making him look very ordinary. :nehra

I love watching Anderson getting smashed to pulp by whoever.

oh I thought you were talking about Shastri and not Bopara :))

:))) :)))

It's about Ravi, poor guy has been one of their better players in the last year.

Ravi Bopara? He's as big a hack as the rest of them.

He's been one of England's best ODI players in the last year. Brings something extra with his bowling as well.

Unjust axing.

We have a lot of testing to do.

Binny looked decent in Test series. We should give him a chance atleast before writing him off.If it works,he gives us an important seam bowling option which could be handy when there's nothing for spinners but help for swing bowlers.

Rayudu's grit won't get us anywhere. He strikes at 70 on flat decks, will only get worse in pace friendly tracks. He's not technically solid either to play big innings

Karthik did a good job in CT iirc.He can atleast play more positively

Jadhav is a specialist middle order batsman. He batted at no.5 in Australia in A tour recently and did superb.Shouldn't have much trouble adjusting to no.4 imo.

Rayudu offers nothing which is why I mentioned 'even' Yuvraj.

Samson is good for T20s not sure he can build an innings in ODIs.

Yep,a lot of testing to do but I am worried Rayudu offers nothing unless he improves his SR drastically

there is no RR pressure in Tests either :moyo

Ravi Shastri watching keenly. As per him,all 3 results are possible at this stage :P

What can the spinners do when the batsmen folded so meekly and the pacers didn't get early wickets? Even Ajmal wouldn't have been able to win a game from this situation and Moeen is no Ajmal.

I am not too comfortable watching Dhawan score a 50. He is playing tukka shots, is mistiming the ball and there is a lot of premeditation involved. I hope he hasn't won back his spot here.

Rahane treats 140kph bowlers like trundlers. Steps down, boooom ! Over their head.
