Just arrived in the press box at Headingley, will be reporting live from here throughout the day and will try to get some pics posted too.

Let's see how long England bat for, forecast tmrw isn't great so they may need to get stuck in to New Zealand quite quickly today.

Actually a surprisingly large number of empty seats at the moment, considering it's a bank holiday today. Let's see if it improves.

Word around the ground is that England will not be declaring early. More likely bat till mid-afternoon. Defensive approach.

Well done Cooky lad. Woke up to catch it. Back to bed now.

A few pics from where I'm sat

Hurrah for Cooky! 25 test centuries, the most ever by an England player!

Thanks a lot Cookie! I was a bit worried recently as he had gone almost 6-7 innings without scoring a ton.

Well done, but 25 seems rather on the lower side doesn't it? Especially when compared to some of the other cricketing nations and considering that England've been around for over a century now.

Cook's 25th Test ton, really impressive career, he's working his way up the all-time list.

Not really - it wasn't until very recently that many batters went past 30. The record was 29 for about 40 years, held by Bradman until Gavaskar went past him. The current top ten have all been active in the last 10-12 years apart from Gavaskar.

Plus: English batters tend to average less that others because they have to bat half their matches in England!

I don't think that Chef is a better opener than Boycott (22 tons), Gooch (18) or Stewart (16) but he plays in an era of many more matches, flat decks and excellent armour protection.

Century for Sir Alaistar Cook :don Well played

Why isn't he knighted by the Queen yet?

He has got an MBE which isn't bad to be fair...

Nice to see Trott actually trying to score runs this morning.. Hopefully the management had strong words with him after his terrible innings yesterday evening.

Lead goes past 350 - probably already too many for New Zealand but don't see any chance of a declaration any time soon

I'd just declare now, tomorrow is going to be a washout anyway and this is rubbish.

It's been such a defensive mentality ever since Vaughan stepped down and Pietersen got sacked.

Well draw written all over it.. Why is trott still playing soo slow.????

New Zeland max score 300 runs if their play out of their skin..

Apparently today can go on til half 7 with the standard extra half hour and then the potential extra half hour again. This is still pretty pointless though.

oh boy! they are gonna wait unti Trottski gets to his 100, aren't they ? :hafeez

Simple. England fancy themselves to knock NZ over in 2 sessions.

It's actually showing a bit of confidence.

Lol Gower being uncharacterstically honest in his commentary today.

Common England what the hell are you doing? Declare for gods sake.

England generally produces pretty average sportsmen considering it invented most world sports. There's the occasional outstanding person such as an Alistair Cook, or a Paul Gascoigne, Jess Ennis or Daley Thompson. We're too apologetic a people to ever truly dominate.

England will never be best team in the world which this approch... never be the best in odi never has.. but in Test cricket you should be aggresive as well like West Indians was once and like Australian was in their prime..

But England is a very good, well organised and well discipline team..

England or South Africa will never come close to Australian prime...their just do not have the attitude of a killer

england could bowl the kiwis out again in a session if they wanted.

England as overconfident as ever.
It remains to be seen if it will be their downfall or not.

Defensive thinking by England once again.

There is no need to keep on past 400. The Kiwis won't get the runs and rain is on the way. England are batting themselves out of a win.

I don't have a problem with letting our batsmen get some time at the crease ahead of the ashes. It won't take long to knock over NZ again, we've broken them.

Well I don't see how they're going to lose the game, they've won the series either way with this approach.

Lunch, lead is 429, surely we will see a declaration, rain is heading this way and forecast tomorrow is terrible.

Cook could always declare during lunch or maybe we will see england bat for 5-10 overs after lunch?

No need to continue batting. England should declare and let Finn and Swann have a go at the batsman

This kind of defensive captaincy is stupid unless you are MS Dhoni. Cook should be looking to crush NZ and not be content with just trying to win the series

No roller on the pitch at the moment which is a sign that we don't have a declaration over lunch.

This really is one heck of a defensive approach. New Zealnd are struggling to make 200 and here we are with Cook setting them 400 and beyond, that too in the 4th innings! When you consider the potential weather disruption tomorrow, it makes this approach not just defensive, but stupid.

I don't know why Cook won't back his bowlers. Perhaps because he has just racked up an easy ton.....

Does Cook actually want the fans to witness an England win or not?

Looks like england will bat on for quite a while here then...

Does Cook actually want the fans to witness an England win or not?

Maybe hes trying to get his batsmen to just get into form, strange to carry on batting like this.

Only current worry in england line up is compton at moment who despite scoring 2 100s in kiwi land seems to be questioned all the time...

We don't play another Test for 6 weeks after this. The form argument makes no sense.

Well I don't see how they're going to lose the game, they've won the series either way with this approach.

You don't want to go into the Ashes with just 1 Test Win in your 5 Last Tests.
Even Australia have won 1 Test in their last 5 Tests.

England as overconfident as ever.

If they were overconfident they would have declared on a 300 lead.

Carrying on batting suggests a lack of confidence to me.

So England did declare, New Zealand require 468 to win, Anderson already finding some excellent shape with the new ball.

Kiwis have about 60 odd overs to survive so game should be over today...

There's the 1st wicket, Fulton fends at a ball that bounces a touch more, caught by Bell in the gully.

Broad needs to grow facial hair and not shave for a month, he needs to look like a rockstar :moyo

Notice the complete lack of posting from 'Kiwi' recently? :D

The rain is reportedly going to stay away due to a wind change. Let's wrap this up!

Williamson's figures may not be great and he'll get dismissed cheaply on more occasions that he cobbles up big scores, but he's clearly one of the best of the younger lot going around today.

Forecast for tomorrow also brightening up apparently. Might be on and off but doesn't look like a complete washout.

What is the combined XI?

Cook
?
Trott
?
Root
?
Prior (because he's Prior)
Broad
Swann
Southee
Anderson

Nasser arguing with Michael Holding on commentary about the DRS. Comes into the press box afterwards and says "I'm wasting my breath, he's never going to say, yeah you're right!"

Holding is a bit stuck in his ways, sometimes I just switch off when he is commentating. Insists that a lot of spinners chuck.

Rutherford seems a better batsman. Doesn't seem to be troubled by swann or the quicks much.

And he's out. Oh well

I'd love to see Swannage get ten on what it supposed to be the seamer's paradise.

From the VIP gallery? Must be the worst place you can ever be in a stadium.

why are Eng fans upset here?

This is only 4th day , They have whole day tomorrow , I do not think Kiwis will last more than 20 overs into 5th day

:4 more .......... taylor playing positively here.... he needs to play long innings instead of small entertaining ones.

Taylor is much better than 42 average he has in test matches.
