Woakes is to Pak what :moali is to India, a decent player who becomes a world-class player against certain opposition.

May be after Root double ton. And the SR with which Woakes is going, i guess he will get his hundred before Root's double.
 
England going to score 600 for sure! They know that the weather is overcast and they do not want Pakistan to bat and to avoid the follow-on. They will try to follow-on Pakistan and then win by an innings.
 
Why the hell we have yasir on boundry when we know he has to bowl from one end till end of england innings, and need to preserve his energy as much as possible, misbah looking totally clueless.

That is why a choke is extremely important for us at the moment. The moment we start to choke them they will probably wrestle for the initiative - Can induce mistakes and bundle them before 500. Also a choke, if it doesn't induce a collapse, would surely take the time away from the game and draw would be possible or relatively easy for Pakistan.

Even when Australia won 5-0 vs England they conceded 550 in one game.

Yes that is correct but our bowlers are bowling poor lengths. Yasir is bowling a lot of short stuff for some reason. Needs to get the batters coming foreward to him
 
Keep it there Yasir. He's bowled too much short stuff. When he gets batsmen playing foreward to him that's when he will cause them problems.
 
Pakistan have to play defensive cricket to ensure a draw. A result in Pakistan's favor seems out of the question for now.

Time to prepare for tuk-tuk marathon.

Woakes is a decent player but I'm sorry we have made him look better than he is. I don't think India and Australia would have as much problem with him as we are
 
Keep bowling tight channels and let the batsmen take the risk or not. I for one will be very happy with a draw which is looking a real possibility due to weather interruptions.

Missbah and Younus will make sure of it and a draw would be a good result for Pakistan.

If there's overcast conditions when Pakistan bat, then this toss could be even more detrimental than the ones in the UAE. At least over there, those batting 2nd have to only tough it out on a 4th/5th day. Here it would be in both the innings for the losing side.
 
Pakistan need to play positively , after they post 600 we can't afford to go into our shell. We should counterattack.

Yes look at England's recent record at old Trafford it's really good so a draw wouldn't be the worst result. We can beat them at the Oval
 
England may try to declare sooner because of the weather conditions, may be after Root's 200
 
Just not happening for any of the bowlers to be honest..

When four wicket taking are not doing it, there may be some thing wrong with the track

It's flat but our openers could put pressure on our middle order so things may turn out different. Let's hope they can see off the new ball
 
Ben Stokes & Bairstow are yet to come in. Scary. 600+ for sure.

I suspect he is one of those duke ball specialists .
Too early to say anything yet though.
 
Gower talking sense with reference to the follow through. Saying there should be some leeway for the initial 1st few steps .
 
Considering Anderson and Stokes are playing and we do have 2 tailenders are openers and long tail even 400 is enough for England to beat us

Also Yasir needs to drop pace again. Last ball was 54mph.
 
I MUST SAY THIS IS A FLAT TRACK NO WAY YASIR COULD GO WICKETLESS, even with the service of Saqlain, it wont make a difference. Why prepared such dull pitch after a great test at Lords. I rather had Green mamba then this.😠

We can score 400 here if we bat sensibly.

I suspect that Wahab might be going to Cardiff to get his action tested. Some very unusual deliveries in this spell.

His batting was always at a decent level. His bowling was questionable. Still have doubts about it but he's proving me wrong.

Yeah even in yesterday's spell it seemed he was chucking some of his deliveries
