I've always rated Prior quite highly, he's a fighter. You can count on him to be the last man standing when there are wickets falling all around.

And Petersen out.

Thought England would do something early on.

At least SA can be happy at least it wasn't Smith. That delivery probably would have got out any SA batsman

Peterson is one of the weak links in S.A batting line up and no shock hes been knocked over early. The other two weak links rudolph and duminy will need to show some worth in this series as well.

Biggest difference straight away is england bowlers are attacking the stumps with new ball, something S.A didnt do until today.

Smith must be the most frustrating batsman to bowl to. Hes always looks like a walking wicket for the first hour but hes so effective at the same time.

Just seen the scorecard. Prior is an unreal player. Only time will tell how well Cook, Trott and Prior played.

Good strike for Jimmy, let's have a bundle more under the clouds today.

Hope it's sunny tomorrow.
Best case scenario, South Africal pile on 500 and England collapse to 80 with their horrible batting

I've seen Prior bat well on the start of a series, he usually fades away after and then comes back!

Broad and Anderson looking to get Amla out lbw with ball that nips back.

Amla hasnt settled in yet.

Smith looks ok so far, just needs to keep his balance at the crease.

16/1

S.A will pretty much need a solid last session of batting without losing a wicket, Intresting to see how early swann comes on and if he gets any assistance on this wicket.

I reckon they did themselves credit in UAE and SL too. But you just blindly hate the English, so that's fine.

Accuse anyone who disagrees with you of hate. So why exactly do I hate the English?

Well, it might be all the posts you have that indicate you don't like the English team, or that you want them to fail/lose against other teams, and discredit the accomplishments of their bowlers despite them having done well away in the past few years. I suppose having a bowling side that averaged the third lowest per wicket in away matches for the past 3 and a half years makes them a poor bowling side away from home. (Pakistan and Australia are slightly lower, and that too by only 1-2.5 or so in difference)

You also insinuate in another post that most British are racist, based off a few posts by a few angry fans on a different site.

So which of these don't indicate that you hate England/the English?

England bowlers have been performing in every coondition and series for past 3 yrs or so. If anyone denies it either he/she doesn't watch cricket or has some personal issues with england.

Weighty accusations but I'll answer all of them
Firstly, I supported Australia and South Africa over England. I guess you don't see that I would support both teams against any other country, barring Pakistan
Secondly, I'm talking about away from home. Broad has done absolutely nothing of note away that would make me call him pretty good. Anderson, I agree, is pretty good but he's only one half of the bowling attack
Thirdly, that insinuation was because of the number of thumbs up that guy has. Again, I never insinuated all the British are racist, just that the comment showed so
Fourthly, one of my best friends growing up was Irish and another was English so your point is moot

truthseer you are talking some right twaddle today. England's bowlers are a proven force in all conditions.

Dunno why Jimmy is not bowling right now. Enough of a rest. Or even Bresnan instead of Broad to try something new.

This pitch looks like it is only tough to bat on in the morning session.

LOL getting a sweater off during overs. Rauf chacha is angry a little and rightly so.

Still just under an hour's play left tonight, we can got to 7.30pm to get these overs in...

The rain's turned this to the Saffer's advantage it seems. The pitch has settled down a lot.

If England can get one wicket before the day ends, they will have a huge advantage going in tomorrow. After Kallis and Devillers, I dont have much hope for the rest of the Saffer batting line-up.

Must say as Jo Don said, there is surely improvement in Amla's footwork. He rarely leaves any gap between Bat and Pad. And head remains still while fending off middlish balls.

Indeed, He is a very under rated player.

Don't think, he is underrated on this forum. :D

Amla has lot of games to play and lot to achieve before getting tag of ATG. Smith will get soon ... 2-3 more years and he is there.

amla has so much time when he plays his shots, like watching moyo bat.

Hashim Amla is certainly more attractive to watch then he used to be. Or maybe I'm just comparing him to Smith

England don't look like looking like taking a wicket.

Anderson is, Broad is not. Your talk was about the new ball. I don't say it's not a proven force in all conditions. I say the new ball pairing is not very good. Anderson is very good, Broad is not and is also highly inconsistent
That attack on the whole is very good, with Swann being an excellent spinner, Panesar, a reliable backup and Finn,Onions or Tremlett, an excellent replacement for the injury of either pacer
I only talked about the new ball. Broad is not good with it abroad

Beefy being harsh to England there, that would have been a psychotic catch.

Nasser pretty much asked Beefy if he would have caught that, of course he would have caught it and then drunk 10 pints in the bar come back out the next day and taken a fivefer.
