England v West Indies, 3rd Test, Old Trafford

That skysports.com underneath the scorecard looks really unprofessional. Could really use a better font couldn't they?

Bell trusts Sidebottom and gives him the strike first ball of the over. Might cost him.

Sidebottom actually has a very good technique for a tail ender.

Unlucky Bell, a really good ball to get him that will encourage Harmison. Fell short of the ton but still one of his best innings for England.

It's great to see a pitch with some life in it.

Well played Belly, shame you couldn't get the ton.

I agree, these 4 sessions have had more excitement than the rest of the series put together so far. Sporting wickets make for so much better cricket than the dry roads we are seeing more and more in English test cricket.

By golly guvnor, how did he drop that!!

Bell unlucky not to get a ton. Probably the nerves got the better of him.

Not the nerves, just a good legcutter, it is difficult to see how Bell could have played it any better.

Now that's something an Englishman would say. :P

I think it was more the off cutter which spat up off the pitch which did it myself...

Ahh ok. I didn't see the ball. I was swapping computers.

I hope Collymore gets the last wicket, he deserves 4-fer for his performance.

Panesar is proving yet again that he is the most able England tailender since Simon Jones. Why are these two always shunted down to no.11 I will never know.

What happened to PP? Was the site too busy?
Anyway, England was bowled out for 270. Edwards took the last wicket.

I think it can only get better for Harmison from here, 5 wides from his first 2 balls!

That's cricket for you, 11 extras conceded in the first half of the over then the straight one surprises the batsman who surrenders his wicket. Ganga the unfortunate batsman, perhaps deliberately set up by Harmy?

First wicket fell an over or 2 ago.

Harmison got Ganga out for 5.

WI 1/17.

78/2! Morton has really improved his batting because in PAK he looked like an utterly limited batsman.

111/2; West Indies of to a very good start.

What a sexy drive of Plunkett; Morton on fire.

35 of 38 balls.

This is actually quite painful to watch.

Harmison takes about 20 attempts to get the ball anywhere near where he wants it to be but as soon as he does the Windies batsmen meekly capitulate.

Harmison's strike rate in terms of wickets from good balls is phenomenal!

Chanderpaul gone driving Sidearse straight to Pietersen at cover. Collapse going on here

225/9

WI are the 2nd worst test side after Bangladesh. They are closer to Bangladesh than one of the other top sides.

Edged and caught at first slip. Lovely bowling by Monty tempting the drive. He has 4 and West Indies are all out 229.

229 all out. Pathetic performance by WI. credit to Monty but really too many starts not converted.

Well this was the West Indies chance to get a good total on the board and chance to win but they've just surrendered us a 141 run lead.

One wonders what the WIs first innings score would have been had Harmison bowled more than two balls of line and length per over! What's with all those exaggerated wide-balls? :))

Nasser Hussain drops another clanger and proves he is not fit to be a comentator. Criticises Sammy's inclusion saying he it bits and pieces and next ball bowls a jaffer beating Cook all ends up.

Oh you meant "off". Makes more sense now. Was wondering if you were complementing Liam Plunkett for a second.

Cook flicks to fine leg for 4.

72/1, lead of 213. I say 400 and we should declare. Get it over quickly.

Collymore misses a sitter off Cook. In fact he didnt even get hands on the ball. West Indies fielding is shocking and rightly so the crowd are mocking them.

England 126/2. Vaughan went for 40 caught and bowled to Sammy. Was actually a good bit of West Indian fielding.

Whats with the black arm bands?

Moyos survives a caught behind appeal - I heard a nick:)

Finally my IE and Firefox are working! Before IE and FF werent working, but msn was.
Not IE and FF are working, but msn isn't. :20:

Look like England will be making the windies chasing around 500 i don't see windies making it.

Ive not seen a single ball of this series - but from all accounts., Eng have been very poor - so what does that make the Windies???

England's batting has been decent enough but.. yeah.

The Windies don't seem to have much application.

Pietersen bowled, the bouncer hit his helmet and it smashed into the wickets. Freakish dismissal that one.

...aparantely if he wore a cap and the cap hit the stumps and the bails were dislodged its not out...hmmm hopefully fidel will come on now, unsetlle the new batsmen in place of Gayle

sammy doesnt get the hattrick but takes 3 wickets in an over. plunkett goes for 0.

272-7

Imagine how Nasser must be feeling right now :))

Yup. Proves my point that he is one of the worst commentators around.

Say we should declare now and get a decent bowl at them before close.

to be fair when you look at sammy he does look like a bit and pieces player. credit to him though for taking 4 wickets

Collingwood outta there hitting it straight to mid wicket. Sammy gets 6 and Nasser Hussain needs to shut the **** up from now on.

Edged and gone. Sammy gets 7! Nasser Hussain eat your heart out. 7/66 on debut and West Indies need 455 to win.

did he bowl really well or did ENG lose wickets while attacking ? ? ?
Bit of both but everything he bowled was in the right area. Some great deliveries he bowled and took a stunning 1 handed caught and bowled to get rid of Vaughan.

Like Rob says, a bit of both.

He's about 74-77mph in pace but he's pretty accurate and has a bit of height about him so the ball does bounce.
