Wow this is dismal. Devalues the Ashes slightly I fear. Might be an innings loss.

The gap between these sides is palpable.

After this win England will be all charged up and we all know what a charged up KP can do.

Its incredible to think that not so long ago Australia were a team that were actually feared. So many years of absolute dominance and its come to this.

Players like Stuart Law, Martin Love, Di Venuto, Matt Elliot, MacGill, etc would have walked into this Aussie lineup.

Silly stuff. No follow on . 29 overs left today . England will get lead of around 220 , bat for 20 overs today & should bat for only 70 over on day 3 , set a target of 500 to get in 200 overs & declare so that day 5 is a rest day :)

Another 150 run last wicket stand to save Australia. But Agar and Phil are not at the crease.

Khawaja's 14 doesn't look too bad now considering the scores of Hughes,Smith and Haddin.

and Uzzy was batting in tough 3 spot.

England 289/7 (89.0 ov)
Most people believe that honors were shared on day 1 but seeing the amount of dryness in pitch & the turn & bounce Smith extracted in line of stumps, i would like to think 320 is going to be a par score & Swann will be a major threat .If he bowls badly or Aussies play him well ,then it would be a great contest .

Swann takes 5 . Potw recommendations please :D

Swann gets the 5 fer! Well deserved!

Time to bat on lads. Pile on the easy runs while the pitch is flat. Perhaps grind Harris and Patto out of the test.

Australia should just rest Harris, Get him off the pitch and save him for the next test.

Match is over.

Yep. Keep loading the rocks on their chests. Grind 'em down boys. Make them pay for those sixteen long, bitter years.

Nice to see a rutheless bowling display by England. They should wrap this match up on the fourth day. Lovely to see Swann pass Dazzler on the wicket stakes. Of all the bowlers I have watched, only the Hoggster(Matty Hoggard ) and Jimmy have more wickets in test matches.

Wise words. I really do not care about this being a contest or not. England just need to keep grinding out the wins and everything will look after itself :D

Grind them out in the field. Keep them there all day tomorrow in the 30c heat. Make their pace bowlers break down and get injured.

I have already had my heart attack for the series. I am quite content to watch our team administer drubbings.

Can't even get an solace from the footy these days either.

Very disappointed with Australia, whenever they claw themselves back into the game the seems to be a shovel at the other hand to dig a hole.
What a meek surrender

Maybe we should borrow Australia Philander and Peterson as batsmen maybe Steyn too, what a batting line up!!

devaluing the ashes? If you think this display from the Aussies devalues the ashes, then I wonder what you think about the 2006/2007 Ashes....

I think it was seven years ago. Good strawman attempt, though.

Thank god we are 263 ahead. This could have been a nightmare otherwise.

Glass half empty doesn't do justice to your posts :D

Is it true or not?

Had we been only 80 ahead lets say, we'd be 110/3, not as good as where we are now!

This is a pressureless situation, Cook/Trott/KP should be piling on runs, yet we contrive to throw them away.

People sometimes play worse under no pressure. Cause and effect.

Even if Brits declare now, Oz will lose by more than 100.

I dunno. If England could be shot out for about the same as Oz's first dig, it just needs Pup to get a ton with a bit of ticker from the rest and it could be another thriller.
