Shanto
Mushy
Shakib
Mosaddek

Pitches were different then to an extent. truer. too many seaming wickets these days and being played. recent domestic tournaments half the games have been rained off or decide on d/l.
but yes selection is particularly poor.

Wicket was different then - not like these garbage. Also, FC was played in summer, not NOV-DEC.

Don't put Sharjeel along with Anwar, Sohail, even Nazir. PAK's batting is bankrupt, for which SK looks like Richards these days - he won't have made the squad 10 even years back; a batsman with ZERO driving range though off side. Nazir was the insane version of Umar Akmal, otherwise his of-side & back foot game was among best in world. Watch come of his good innings against AUS, SAF & WI.

Imrul Kayes is the best edger in the world. His thick edges alone scores more run than Azhar Ali/shezzy does in the beginning
 
Should have brought Ali earlier -our top 5 has 4 lefti; but none after.

Tamim isn't a LO player - he might call it a day after 2019. Normally, BD players don't prolong career, neither selectors give much value to experience.
 
Good move to bring in Mushi. They need a right hander and rotate strike.
 
Thanks for the day Imrul - his only utility in this CT will be, if Mushi turns ankle, while keeping .......

Because none of them were international quality. Tamim and Shakib are internationally acclaimed players.

Tamim can play the anchor role.

Btw exceptional catch by Wood. England are probably the best fielding team in this tourney
 
Someone with sabbirs potential should never have been displaced from #3. It's like Pakistan playing Babar at 6 against India
 
Mushfiq and Tamim need to play till at least 40 overs. Tamim should anchor and mushy go for some controlled hit

No no. England are average in fielding. No extraordinary athletes, regularly drop catches and never hit stumps.

It's actually
1. Aus.
2. SA/NZ
3. NZ/SA
4. B.D.

NZ, followed by AUS - Poms will choke in field, when things get tighter. Aussies are best, when it comes to catch the big fishes.

Stokes, Roy and Morgan (and Bairstow now he's sub fielding) aren't extraordinary athletes in the field...?

What potential. Sabbir was groomed as a no. 6 a power hitter.

Babar is a batsman who batted in the top order.

Babar is world class Sabbir isn't. Sabbir is a poor man's Maxwell with the elegance of Kohli

No. They are all good fielders. In fact, Jason Roy is great; But won't take stunning reflex catches.

The shot Mushi played just now (for 4), would have struggled to reach extra cover in recent PAK wickets.

Wickets were much different, but more than that PAK national players used to play lots of cricket in AUS, SAF, UK, IND & NZ - now, PAK's frequent opponent left is SRL & WI, while UAE wickets aren't any different either.
 
Want BD to lose like no tommarow but want Tamim bhai to score a century because he is in my fantasy team.

BD now need some big hits and strike rotation.

Can't bear the never ending chest thumping of bd fans, I used to support bd back in the day but not anymore they won a freaking single series s in last 16 years and then they started acting like Pakistan is their punching bag for them, they won a freaking single serious in last 16 years and then they started acting like out of control children.
 
Atmosphere building up nicely.

That's the great thing about holding events in the UK - most teams will have a following at the matches due to the diverse, multicultural makeup of the country.

Superb batting by Bangladesh. They need 325 to compete.

Some early wickets and England is almost out of tournament.
 
Great match so far. I'm happy I stayed up for this. Entertaining stuff. Much better than the Test championship Junaids is on about in the other thread.

Despite the flak Mushfiqur Rahim receives he has matured into a world class batsman. Matured. Skillful. Smart.

Great asset to have in the side. Only 29 years old.

Not sure why England didn't bat first, Oval is a good batting wkt, nice sunny day. Why would you put the oppo in and potentially come under scoreboard pressure later on.
 
BD need to try and double their score from here. 300 minimum.
