Just saying. :D

Only problem with England is ... they had long break with international cricket. And Pak needs to take advantage of it and attack with full force in first test. Pak. must try their level best in first test to shock the Poms. It will be hard to come back for pakistan once they start to suit condition.

I know it sounds silly and one may say 'ohh they are professional, Andy F and co. know what they are doing, they will prepare well (unlike India :p )'. However, this is the only time, I see Pakistan have clear edge against them. England knows that they don't have good away record. They haven't played in this kind of condition for very long time and by now Pakistan should be very hard to beat in UAE, esp. after their win against Lanka. So, this is it, England is strong test team. They will do much better in next 2 tests, but first test, Pak. has clear edge. They can really win first test.

Seems like Shahzad is edging things, its good if Anderson is inducing the edge.

42.6
Anderson to Mohammad Shahzad, FOUR, leg sidish from the bowler, easy pickings for Shahzad.
42.5
Anderson to Mohammad Shahzad, FOUR, between slips again, bowler frustrated.
42.4
Anderson to Viljoen, 1 run
42.3
Anderson to Mohammad Shahzad, 3 runs, flicked away nicely.
42.2
Anderson to Mohammad Shahzad, no run
42.1
Anderson to Mohammad Shahzad, FOUR, outside edge between slips.

Lol Pakpassion turns into AfghanPassion. Never saw these posters before. Welcome and stick around for the series.

Sporting declaration by Porterfield, though with Dockrell left only, perhaps he didn't value the time it took to get him out.

Hope that England will go for it. If they lose, then they give the Affiliates much joy, and they avoid being miserable grinches. And if they win, they win and should instil some confidence. I do not doubt Cook's ability to block a day away, nor Trott's ability. I'm more interested in seeing them chase down the target.

I'm miffed they sent out Cook, should have sent out Trott and Strauss, those two need runs. Trott's last Test was the 2nd India test when he was injured. Strauss's was the 4th test, and he was Brearleyesque in the India series. Not too worried about Bell, he can pick it up after Cook scores a ton and sets a platform, and KP is too talented to worry about.

I guess you missed their first innings.

Broad's had a fantastic match, hopefully he reproduces this when it matters

Looking good for a win now. we often seem to bat better in the second innings, not sure why

Cook goes to a quality Majid Haq catch at midwicket.

Game still on.

I think England will chase this down. Assoc X1 have done very well in this game and should be proud of their efforts.

England playing the right way here - i.e. being afggressive and not letting the associates a moment to breathe

England are a bunch of meanies chasing this total down with ease :(

Was kind of hoping for the ICC combined associate team to pull off a win. Especially since they limited England to score of 180 or so in the first innings and got the first innings lead.

Surprised Associates declared even if they hung around for another half hour they could have possibly prevented the loss, anyway England are 3 down a couple more quick wickets and could get interesting.

Yeah Rehman = KP out of the equation.

Potentially, but still not sold on playing two specialist spinners considering we have decent part timers in Hafeez and even the likes of Younis and Azhar Ali are not the worst.

Still would prefer three seamers and one spinner unless the pitch is going to take massive spin

Looks like England want to try & wrap this up quickly.
Thats why they've gone to have some hot tea?

Is cricket the only sport with a tea break in it? Not anymore! I've heard NFL is introducing tea breaks starting this superbowl. The players will be served hot tea with samosas during the tea break.

@Malaikan; sorry it wasn't any streaming link. Just the live
Commentry link which Afghan posted.

Bell looks like hes found his form in the 2nd Inns. The lack of time in middle for KP will be englands only batting worry so far.

Trott and Morgan gone. Morgan scored a grand total of 4 runs in 2 innings.

74 needed with 5 wickets in hand.

Just checked the scorecard.

Anderson picked 4 wickets :O:O

England should play Prior at 6 and pick 5 bowlers. Doubt they will but surely that's their best option.

no hameed hassan and hence the english team look more comfortable

miles ahead of boyd rankin

45.3 Mohammad Nabi to IR Bell, OUT - CAUGHT! Paddled in the air behind square, Porterfield dives goalkeeper- like and palms the ball up for Shahzad to take! That's a big, big wicket! Game on now :)

Porterfield needs to replace Boyd Rankin now, he's being hit everywhere. Bring on George Dockrell. Spinners from both end

Ah, Ian Bell fails when needed by England.

What a surprise.

18 runs needed to win. England should win it with ease now.

Assoc X1 should be pushing for more games like this in the future!

Barbie took forever to get out, so the wrong combined XI win.

Thats an Unconvincing win TBH

England's Middle order is out of form completely especially KP.

You are judging from a practice game which was a nothing game for the England players who had not played cricket for 4 months against a team who to them was the game of their lives!

An average outing. Some valuable time in the middle for Strauss, Cook and Trott. A little sluggish but they should be fine in a week for the first match. From what I understand, Anderson's 4 wickets at what, 25 apiece?, was a good effort, and deserved more from all the edges between slips and gully that he kept getting. Good to see him still threatening with UAE tracks and taking wickets at a decent average.

:)))

As sure as day follows night.
And lol @ Pietersen getting out to the left arm spinner as soon as he comes into the team.

A good match and win for England in the end, their bowling was decent throughout (relative to the conditions) and their batting was tested in the first innings but came back well and scored quickly to chase down the target. Seems quite a good preperation game for them.

Not sure if this is supposed to be sarcastic :))

I'm sure Ian Bell felt so much pressure on his shoulders when batting in todays game!

England will now seriously think about their performance ... its not easy to score runs here .. and especially against the attack pakistan have

We just need to take catches

Bad win but useful practice, I suspect we'll compete well with Pakistan, beyond that don't know

Decent workout for the english, yes they played unconvincingly but I still think they would have prefered this intense game rather than a doddle in the park. Will help the players switch on

Bell is usually rubbish under pressure, nothing new there

Pak cricket missed a great oppurtunity to play a Presidents X1 of our players as a warm up

associates X1 does nothing for Pak cricket.

We could have tried a whole host of youngsters in 2 warm up games and instead gave Afghans and Irish players a great work-out

crazy stuff
