Babar and friends should be OK they show their best vs minnows or b teams
This time round they probably will struggle vs Afghanistan & bangladesh

btw misbah is ripping pakistan team apart on the pavilion

He says we were playing comepetative cricket with C team D teams, if we cant dominate them, than the no.1 ranking is flawed

I have always found Misbah and Afridi as one of the most jealous personalities ever. They could never become worldclass and neither could their teams when they were in charge, it speaks their mindset. Whether we do well in this WC or not, this team has already achieved what Misbah could not, that too by a country mile. Indeed the grapes are sour. :)

I'll take Test No. 1, series win in India and SA and restoring our dignity over a hollow ODI ranking. Kids these days disrespectful to Misbah clueless seriously.

Kids these days have been watching cricket since Wasim Akram was at the helm. Same kids don't forget anything. btw, Babar won ODI series in SA too, with a ton, yes with a century. Tell me about Misbah's ODI centuries ?

SA C? Also who mentioned centuries?

Yh I saw what misbah said. Honestly as much as I don't like him during his time on the field and as a coach, gotta give the guy credit where its due,

He is one heck of an analyst. He's making some goated statements. No more cloud 9 statements like ramiz raja usually makes.

I mean, I still don't like misbah when he was on the field as a captain. He isn't a clueless captain but defo a nepotisitc one, so being an analyst =/= being a good captain or being non nepotistic a few years ago.

But credit given where its due, he's probs one of the best analysts I have ever seen given all his comments so far. They've all been pure spot on. Unlike cough Naz cough XD.

Netherlands are a good team, they cannot be taken for granted , they are capable of causing upsets.

I do agree and it is surprising that they lost to Karnataka, but it could also be because they are very new to Indian conditions.

Pakistan should win tomorrow but should be up for this game as they are for any other.

Amazing.

So you mean the no 1 ranking based on bashing reserves of other teams is the "be and all".

And World Cup performance is secondary?

Who cares about ODI rankings? Besides Babar fanboys I guess. It makes their hero look better.
Especially because he struggles when the going gets tough or pressure is on.

I didn't say that. But let me ask you something, do you remember seeing Pak as the number 1 ODI side?

I don't know but I am assuming I am a bit older than most people who post here. I have been following cricket for many years, decades actually. The World Cup is the main event. It comes every 4 years. Just try, try, try to enjoy it.

Please just let go of the toxicity. You don't like Babar, you don't like this, that, the other. If cricket makes you so miserable and so angry and so toxic...seriously dude. Life is too short. Take up a new hobby.

Yeah and I know what type of attacks and teams they faced to get there.

Obviously if Pakistan win the World Cup...

But it looks only a dream at the moment.

This is not possible for them.

They have predicted certain players downfall for years. Yet here they still are today, forefront of the side.

The slaps that have been taken by them have sent their brains haywire.

Nonsense about cliques and cults are the scraps they are clinging to now.

For these type of people you should just ignore and let them get on with it.

I am not claiming EVERY attack sucked.

But I know many of them were useless.
You get to play what is in front of them, the same Ravindra, Matt Henry and Sodhi which were mocked as C attack when they were on Pakistan tour would be hailed as world beaters after today's match (Henry and Ravindra) There shouldn't be any double standards :)

Bas de Leede, Van Beek are main guys. Didn't Pakistan play Netherlands a couple of years back?
Yeah we toured them in Aug 2022.

Following were the scores -
First match we scored 314 but NL scored 298 and only lost by 16 runs. Although SSA didnt bowl.
Second match we won convincingly, NL scored 186 and we chased it in 31.3 overs.
Third match again we performed very badly with the bat, scored only 206 and then had NL all out for 197, winning by only 9 runs, Also Naseem took 5 in that match.

So basically two very close matches and we were playing almost full strength team, only SSA and Md Rizwan werent there I think.

So it isn't as that much a cake in the park as many here presume.

Probably only game we should win without a doubt, if we lose this then we are going to be 8th/9th for sure.

Pakistan should win this game with better margin because at the end this NRR issue will come up for sure.

Thing is like my prediction with NZ beating England, Ik Pakistan will beat nedtherlands but Pakistan won't smack like people are saying.

If we bat first then we will stat pad, if we chase then we'll be chasing up till the 40th or 45th because we can't just Bully an opposition, Babar and imam and rizzu have to make sure they slowly slowly trickle their way to a 100 and then book their spots for the next 1 million matches.

Imaam
Fakhar
Babar
Rizwan
Saud
Iftikhar
Shadab
Nawaz
Hassan Ali (they may pick Wasim Jnr)
Shaheen
Rauf

Pakistan's win is a foregone conclusion. The only question is the margin of victory.
Can they win by 60+ runs or chase the target in less than 40 overs? I think the Pakistan team would be looking to do it.

From Netherlands presser:

[Reporter:]

Hi, Bas. We've seen that Netherlands struggled against left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc; he got a hat trick against you. So, Shaheen will be playing tomorrow. So, is he a big worry? Shaheen, Haris Rauf, they have good pace. So, what's the main worry of Netherlands? Do you feel that they are a big threat to your team?

[Bas de Leede:]

Yeah, you know, obviously Shaheen and Haris Rauf are two quality pacers. Something we don't face too often is left-arm swing. It was a little bit of a wake-up call for us against Mitchell Starc the other day, but I think we still need to be confident in our abilities. Shaheen has been a focus point for us in our preparation and also our analysis. So, hopefully we're going to play him better than we did against Starc the other day.

idk why I feel an upset coming. I hope I am wrong.

I hate round robin format as a Pak fan. Consistency is like poison to this team.

If we want to be serious about reaching the semis then we not only need to win, but win considerably, especially after the beating England took today.

Of course no opponent can be taken lightly in the World Cup, but Netherlands is the game that all the serious teams have an eye on to boost NRR. That should be us too.

I still maintain that we will win this one with ease.

I think Pakistan should bowl first because they can probably bowl out Netherlands for less than 100 and chase it fast too. If, however, somehow Netherlands score 220, Pakistan will shut shop and chase it in 46th or 47th over and walk off proudly with a smile on their face.

The only interesting thing about this game is goin to be who Pakistan's first 11 is. Will they have the guts to drop Shadab or are they going to persist. Same goes for Fakhar. Personally I would drop them both for Abdullah and Usama.

How the matches went against the Netherlands last time when Pakistan toured we can't confidently predict that Pakistan will win easily this time.

To say Misbah achieved nothing is unfair. He lead Pakistan after one of its darkest times , had some great test series, won our first odi series in South Africa against a full strength side .

You can have your opinion on the guy but what he stated was facts. Pakistan got hyped up by beating b grade teams. They should have mixed more rookies in and then maybe we wouldn’t be seeing such strange squad selections from Asia cup to World Cup.

When Afridi was in charge he took us to the semi finals in 2011. The furthest we had gone since 99.

And aside from doing well in t20 world cups , Babar has not achieved much as captain and I hope to be wrong but I don’t think he ever will. His captaincy skills are non existent and he is probably the weakest captain I’ve seen from Pakistan since I’ve been watching.

i dont think they will drop Fakhar and Shadab and it wil probably cost them many matches.

I would say drop salman agha too and add saud shakeel in place of him.

It will be a travesty if quota selection Salman Agha plays ahead of Saud Shakeel. I also do not believe the hype around Abdullah Shafique. To pair him with Imam is like a 1980s opening partnership where openers are sent out to negotiate the new ball and dull the attack on a dodgy pitch. There is no place for both in the side. Despite Fakhar's form I will still start with him. Quite a dumb decision from our "thick" tank to not have another opening option in the mold of Fakhar.

No way in a hundred years is Bobby Kaptaan going to drop his buddy Shadab, even though everybody and their aunt can see he is not up for it right now. What's worse is if Shadab feasts on the poor Dutch he will start the rest of the tournament and bowl his 4 long hops an over. Rohit Sharma is looking forward to those easy "vadapavs".

My playing eleven for tomorrow will be:

Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Saud
Rizwan
Ifti
Shadab
Nawaz
Hasan
Shaheen
Rauf

My Playing XI for todays match :

- Fakhar Zaman
- Imam ul Haque
- Babar Azam
- Saud Shakeel
- Iftikhar Ahmed
- M. Rizwan
- M. Nawaz
- Usama Mir
- Hasan Ali
- Haris Rauf
- Shaheen S Afridi

You think Rizwan will play at 5 for Saud.

Dream on.

More likely Saud will be chopped for Agha which opens number 4 for Rizwan.

Yup! They should ask Misbah what kind of Australia and NZ he beat in the UAE to get to no1. He won’t talk about that.

That was NL at home. Now, it’s Pak at (nearly) home conditions. I would be surprised if it isn’t one sided.

Yup, Shadab is a given because of the quota. I am surprised people are still preferring Nawaz over Usama though. Yes Nawaz can bat a bit, but Usama is a must.

I don't think Agha has done anything wrong in his role. In fact, he's been surprisingly good imo. Take a look at his ODI stats - he averages almost 40 at a s/r of 96. Can't ask for much more than that. He's always seemed like a brave cricketer to me. And in tests he averages around 47-48, with a 2 centuries and 4 50s. So yeah, he can bat. He's not a fraud.
