India are 1-0 ahead in the T20I series after a win at Manuka Oval on Friday and will aim to secure the series win as the teams head back to Sydney.

Overview
Australia vs India, 2nd T20I
Sydney Cricket Ground
07.10pm local time, 08.10am GMT

After losing two ODIs at the beginning of the tour, India have pulled things back with back-to-back wins in Canberra's Manuka Oval. The second of those came in the first T20I of the three-match series. The action shifts back to Sydney for the final two T20Is of the series and there are changes to be expected from both sides.

Australia have a doubtful starter in skipper Aaron Finch, who injured his hip in the first game. "The injury got progressively worse as the game went on," Finch had said at the post-match presentation ceremony on Friday. If Finch misses out, Australia will possibly look at Matthew Wade, who was the vice-captain for the previous game, to lead the side.

The Australian squad, that had already undergone several changes last week with Pat Cummins being rested and David Warner ruled out, have to contend with more forced changes. Nathan Lyon has been called up to the squad while Cameron Green was released to play in the three-day tour game against India A.

With Ashton Agar out of the #AUSvIND T20I series with an injury, off-spinner Nathan Lyon has been added to the 🇦🇺 squad!

India might also ring in changes to their line-up. Jasprit Bumrah could come back into the side, while Mohammed Shami might be given a break ahead of the Test series. With Jadeja ruled out, Chahal could be a straight swap in.

Remember the last time

India were propelled to a strong total by Ravindra Jadeja's blitz before Yuzvendra Chahal, who came in as a concussion substitute for the former, picked up three wickets to win the Player of the Match award. Australia’s batting, in the absence of David Warner, couldn’t quite counter the Indian bowlers on a wicket that was two-paced. Earlier in the Indian innings, Moises Henriques made inroads with his slower deliveries to bag a three-wicket haul.

What they said

Mitchell Swepson (Australia spinner): "That ability to spin the ball both ways puts doubt in the batsman's mind. That's where I think leg-spinners have that advantage in the T20 format."

Yuzvendra Chahal (India spinner): "I had been watching Zampa especially because the ODIs hadn't gone well for me. I wasn't able to bowl the way I usually do. I was trying to work on my bowling, and make sure I make a good comeback whenever I get the chance."

Mitchell Starc withdrawn from Dettol T20I SeriesMitchell Starc has been withdrawn from the Australian squad for the remainder of the Dettol T20I Series on compassionate grounds.

Starc left the Australian camp with the blessing and best wishes of the team and Cricket Australia on Saturday after being informed of a family illness.

“There is nothing in the world more important than family and in this case Mitch is no exception,” said Justin Langer, the Australian men’s team Head Coach.

“We will give Mitch all the time he needs and welcome him back into the squad with open arms whenever he feels the time is right for him and his family.”

The Australian team requests media to respect the privacy of the Starc family at this time.

Now this is Australia's C-D team but I m still hopeful they would give India good fight and might win the match

We will be exposed in test cricket. Prithvi Shaw will be eaten alive, the guy is basically an ugly hack version of Sehwag.

This Australian T20 side is very weak and struggling to beat Indian Z team at home.
But I'm sure they could still smash some fake T20 teams anywhere in the world.

Indians will be missing him so badly. Both Cummins and Starc were leaking runs at 8 and 10 runs per over in both ODIs and T20s respectively. Now indians need to target other bowlers who they could milk for 10 runs an over.

Didn't know Rohit Sharma was basically the entire Indian team, as I see no other justification for this being a 'Z' team.

Or, are you taking into account the absence of superstars like Shivam Dube?

Nice India wins the toss and choses to bowl. Looks like Indians trying to make this a competitive series by having it at 1-1 going into the last T20

Looks like the Aussies are not too bothered about T20s...a must-win game and they are playing a 2nd string team

This is probably the weakest Australian team ever.Tye short abbott swepson and other nobodies.India should win this one

India have won the toss and have opted to field

Australia (Playing XI): D Arcy Short, Marcus Stoinis, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Moises Henriques, Matthew Wade(w/c), Daniel Sams, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Swepson, Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye

India (Playing XI): KL Rahul(w), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, T Natarajan, Yuzvendra Chahal

This has to be the weakest Indian bowling line up I have seen in years, If Aus dont win this, they really are a below avg side..

T20s to me is about batsmen and India is going in with strong batting line up and Aus with poor one. Surely there must be a better wicket keeper batsman than Wade in Australia.

Yeah well this is the weakest team Australia could find and they dont care so if India dont win by 200 runs then they are pathetic.

Rohit
Bumrah
Shami
Bhuvi
Jadeja
That is 5 out of 11 players. :yk
While Australia is missing
Starc
Warner
Cummins
Bumrah is a better t20 bowler than all of them and Rohit is as good as Warner if not better.

These set of Indian bowlers are better than main bowlers for T20s, other than Bumrah. Aus bowling is also weak.

C-D teams of both countries are playing this match. Just shows how much importance they give to an T20 series, esp when it will be followed by all important test matches.

Wade batting like a combination of Saeed Anwar & Sanath Jayasuriya against Indian bowlers.

Finch as well.
Is Zampa playing today?
It seems Wade out to prove me wrong.

Yep as expected Wade destroying the Indian C grade bowlers.. Can my boi Shreyas Iyer bowl ?

Why we are in the debate of B or C teams?
These matches are international matches... And their importance are high as other international matches..

It's ok. We also beat second string Australian test team last time we toured them. Some indian fans are actually putting a question mark over those wins now. :inti

The point is that T20 should just be a franchisee cricket. . India has IPL, Aus has BBL.Both are playing this gulley cricket for fun as a break between more important ODI and Tests.

Short is batting at a SR of 60, should not be playing international cricket.

Matthew Wade smashing Indian bowlers as if they are Pakistani phaast bowlers.

AUS 46/0 (4) CRR: 11.5
India opt to bowl

Short caught by a c grade fielder to a c grade bowler on a c grade pitch.

Why is it that when Wade shouts "No" once, I am hearing it twice?

:)))

I predict:

Aus 210

India all out 163

1-1 at the end of today..

Congrats Aus on demolishing our C grade trundlers..

If India lose to this weakest ever T20 team ever to play then they cannot call themselves C grade.

Shreyas took a good catch. I guess that's all we will have from him for the day.

Smith has already wasted 3 balls, if Aus lose it will be Smith's fault.

You are getting your panties in a twist for no reason, stop being so emotional.

Our team is much much weaker than yours, we have a Raul Puppu playing in our side today, with our C class bowlers. Relax this should be an easy win for you...

Wade brings up his 50, not that it means anything to get 50 against India's C-D grade bowlers.

It hits his B*** s

How did Chahar think the ball was dipping?

We are playing with our D grade team, you should win by at least 8 overs against our D grade bowlers. Our D grade batsmen will only score about 140.

Few days ago there was a discussion going on between Indian and Pakistani posters regarding fast bowlers where Deepak Chahar was the center of attraction. As always some of my fellow indian fans were overhyping him. Now suddenly he is a C grade bowler for them. He has taken 18 wickets in 11 matches with an average of 15 and economy of 7. I would like how many A grade bowlers India has produced in T20 or ODI cricket? :inti

Who are India's A grade bowlers in T20? Why did selectors choose Nattu? :inti

Maxwell must be licking his lips looking at the Indian bowlers and butterfinger fielders.

Lmao did Wade walk off assuming Kohli will take the catch? Poor cricket all around. Someone bump the big 3 play the most competitive cricket thread. Nominating brother Rana.
