What's new

India [281/7] beat Australia [137/9] by 26 runs (D/L method) to win first ODI and take 1-0 lead

Vs Lanka he has a batting average of 59 and more hundreds then against any other team with 8

It's because he has played 2x the number of matches against Sri Lanka than ANY other nation. His match/century against Lanka is just 5.75 (46/8) compared to 4.8 (24/5) against Aus

Happy?

282 to get, predictions ? What is the wicket like MMHS

To me Pandya is a better bowler than a batsman.

Pandya' batting is still hit or miss. Needs to develop some patience.

Very clean hitter against spin . His ability to time the ball is amazing . Still not as destructive against pacers .

That's a fair point but it's not out of this world to suggest he fancy's himself vs the Lankan bowling attack compared to other countries

Joseph Gomes Am bored now, I want to see India play an away Test series; when is there next one ?

30 overs from Failkner , stoinis and zampa arr 20 too many against international batting lineups.

Not his fault India is obsessed with Sri Lanka. Had he played the same number of matches against Aus or England he would get similar stats as Lanka. Sri Lanka wasn't even bad before 2015 World Cup

To be fair, not a lot of players are comfy against gneuine pace. If it was easy, Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar wouldnt be legends

There is no guarantee there, those bowling attacks are superior; there's an argument to be made that his stats would decline over a larger sample were he to play the same number of games against those teams. As it stands his numbers are decent against those teams anyway, it's just that he loves Lanka more

Nov 2017 in South Africa

That should be a decent series, both teams evenly matched; plus Kohli plays bounce very well, expect him to put on big scores so long he is not exposed to the new ball too early.

I was also asking to posters here. These days I don't watch pitch report, because it's CCP (cut, copy, paste) for every match. In general, Chennai wicket is one of the best for batting - even in 90s, it was high scoring ground. 281 should be at least 35 below par, but you never know. However, I think the equation'll change now for rain.

His batting is much improved. His bowling is decent but at times he lacks control. Opening the bowling will help improve. Good of Indian think tank to back him.

Not much chance to watch ODI on a Sunday morning & the rain is spoiling it:(

Good come back, Cheppauk is pretty much Dhoni's home ground. Hardik Pandya is a gift, I was skeptical of his inclusion, he just exploded.

Can someone really explain me why is Rahane in the team? Why cant team management experiment with KL Rahul or Pant as an opener instead of proven failure?

coming to match: it seems only one team is showing an intent to play :misbah

Its just a drizzle and ind players are not leaving the field. Smith is having a tantrum and he gets his way and players are off the field

I guess - wash out. Only 35 minutes left for a 20 overs' shoot out.

I have a feeling that this would have been one of the best game of cricket ever, sadly rain will wash that out.

But what a knock by Panda, and Dhoni cements his place for 2019 world cup, whatta champion blue cornered tiger.

and what about australia..it was there game to lose,,

YES! Exciting match still on the cards! Love these kind've games, high scoring are awful

This would have been 50 overs game, it would have ended in embarrassment for AUS.

Sif why the stands issue not resolved since yrs in Chennai stadium

Aus ODI team has gone down in quality, hopefully they bounce back because this is one format they have always been competitive even in Asia.

All upto Maxi! consecutive :four

Phew!!!

Maxi was looking dangerous. India should attack the new batsmen and not allow them to settle in

11.5/over for 7 overs doesn't look that daunting; but Aussies are flat & squire outplayed here - probably would have lost by 3 digit margin.

Can't compare 20 over match to 50 overs. Here they're forced to play fast, 50 overs they'd have time to settle.

wade batting genuinely makes me sick. how can Australia of all countries produce wicket keeper batsmen like this, and as i type he gets out

But, those 20 overs of spin would have choked them in middle overs. Also, now the spinners are bowling on a wet surface with wet ball. AUS top 3 was out to new ball & not going for slog - I don't think, unless they reach 100/1 in 15 overs with both Smith - Warner in, they can chase 275+ against IND in IND; absolutely no clue against spin & they play anyone like spinner bowling slow!

yaar this horrid lower order batting by Australia sapped out all the excitement from the game, turned link off

Faulkner is capable. He has done it against India. So don't rule out. He thrashes seamers all over.

Faulkner used to be a game changes a few years back.. He is just a passenger these days! hat a transformation

Yes, apart from Smith and Warner, it's a pretty hackish lineup. They'd still manage 200+ because of how gritty they are.

I used to fear Faulkner whenever he was at the crease, whether in internationals or in the IPL. Whatever happened to him, his batting has gone down to tailender level.

Don't know about his Form. But Faulkner has this simple technique of connecting the ball. Not much feet movement. He just swings through the line.

Good death bowling. On the money. These two bowl land the ball reasonably consistently an issue for year for Indian seamers since Kapil left.

Very good cricket pitch. Good bowling by india but catching is very casual and not up to the mark

Ridiculous stat alert :

Aus last 11 odis away from home= L L L L L L L L NR NR L
Oh boy, that is some bad stat for an Aussie team.To me, their batting standards have fallen a lot in recent times. They got amazing hitters but struggles really bad if there is some movement in the pitch.

Too bad for the Australians ..... as the match was about to be called off, in a few minutes !!!!
