India (314 & 145/7) defeat Bangladesh (227 & 231) by 3 wickets - India win series 2-0

Kane, Kohli and Smith have fallen the last few years.

Only Root has really thrived.
 
If these mental midgets had played with postive approach, score would have been around 100 for the same loss of wickets. Looks like dravid has no clue. Shastri would have told a few players at the top to go hard and kill the chase.
 
India are still slight favourites in my opinion.

Bangladesh should blame their own batting for not getting to score that extra 50 runs which would have made a huge difference.

Well England had no fewer than 10 tests (5 home, 5 away) over the past couple of years and they could only draw at home and lose away.

Axar Patel (26*) and Jaydev Unadkat (3*) stood unbeaten for India at stumps as their score read 45/4 against Bangladesh on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test in Mirpur.

The visitors now need 100 runs to win. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz scalped three wickets and dismissed Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Cheteshwar Pujara.

Shakib Al Hasan struck early and dismissed KL Rahul. Earlier, Khaled Ahmed got run out by Axar Patel as India bowled out Bangladesh at 231.

Litton Das departed for 73 on the bowling of Mohammed Siraj as Axar Patel took three wickets in the innings while Mohammed Siraj scalped two. Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat have taken a wicket each.
 
We might yet win, but I'm particularly disappointed with Rahul and Virat, in fact terribly disappointed. I expected lot of runs from them in this series, they have been pathetic to say the least.

With what authority is Rahul the captain of this side? How does he look anybody else in the eye back in the dressing room?

I want India to lose this one just to see KL Rahul's weeping face. Clueless captain, minnow basher, sorry can't even score against minnows, worst fielder/keeper who can't catch even a baseball. India should never win a series under his pathetic captaincy who dropped the best Indian player of the series. Both Rahuls should be thrown out as soon as possible. They're poisoning Indian national cricket.
 
This team is getting on my nerves so much that i chided my kid for apparently no reason. Thankfully EPL is restarting in a couple of days so that i can move away from this farce. Pant, please do it for me one last time.

Team management don't have guts to sack kohli and Rahul,Rohit. There have been lot of youngesters waiting in quee .But thease old age guys keep on getting chances.

How can you outdo 22(73) when chasing 227 ? By getting 1(22) when chasing 145.

Just Kohli things.

And if Axar had shown half the application he is showing now in the first innings, India would not have been chasing this much.

a wee tad difficult given the wicket to go out all guns blazing from ball one....end of the day, the session that india faced had india up against the wall....limited time-ball spinning, and bd upbeat from a wonderful spirited batting display. tommorow is another day..

yep averages one drop minimum per game. hopefully he draws inspiration from that MCG innings vs pak and goes big against aus in our back yard...

that was some poor batting against an off spinner. right handers failing against an off spinner, poor poor stuff.

I mean i can understand if it was 80 odd for 4 in 23 overs. That is being positive on a tricky pitch. How each one of them decided to bat like Akash Chopra Pro, i can never understand. And they still lost 4 wickets.

but i cant seem to recall 9 occasions in the last 7 years chasing 140 or so....can you perhaps fill in?
 
Despite india being in trouble i think they will still chase this down, i think Bangladesh needed another 50 more runs to defend ideally.
 
Kohli does too much tuk tuk in test cricket these days. He used to be so fluent. His struggle against spin is real

Lyon is going to eat him alive in India if he keeps up this form
 
It’s about 60/40 in India’s favour. BD will want early wickets in the morning and to remove Pant who most likely will play another match winning knock

I can recall 6 occasions in 2018 itself when India couldn't chase anything over 100... twice in SA and thrice in Eng and once in Australia.

Kohli dropped 5 catches in a session. There is a video being circulated. Inspite of him dropping catch after catch in the slips, he was not removed from that spot, He himself did not volunteer to move out of slips. If you substrct the runs that he cost due to his catching in his career you will have to deduct some 800 to 1000 runs from his aggregate. Baz's drop alone cost India 290 runs.
 
I still favor India to eke out a win. But Bangldesh winning this is what Indian team requires. Otherwise these deadwoods despite averaging under 30 for 3 years will continue playing for 2 or 3 more years. Then there is nepotism captain. Rahul Dravid and co are ruining many young careers.

I do remember some of them if not all

1) chasing 194 in Edgbaston 2018 i think they crashed to 150 odd all out ( curran and stokes played a blinder in bat & bowl respectively)

2) chasing 208 capetown 2018 ( philander had a blinder )

3) chasing 245 v England in 2018 test ( moen ali did the job)

4) chasing 287 Centurian v south africa in 2018 ( nigidi rabada philander did the job )

5) chasing 152 odd v england 2021 ( day rained off) draw

6) chasing 464 in oval bowled out on 360 odd v england (2018)

Have some confidence in the team because we are playing against Bangladesh and Iyer, Pant Ashwin haven't batted yet. :facepalm

It is hard to understand some of our fans who get hurt pretty quickly when anyone criticises the team or captain and defend them with 200% confidence but when situations like the current test comes, they lose all that confidence in just a matter of few seconds. They will go on and on about wins in Australia but act like minnow fans when India have to chase just 145 against Bangladesh. :91: :inti
 
Bangladesh have fought well but India will end up as winners by 4 wickets. 145 is just to less.

145 is not much scored to chase but 23 over 45/4 tells us different story .rahul and Virat both are not deserve a place in test team . we need complete overhaul otherwise our home record just about to be broken against australia .

India’s passage to WTC finals will entirely depend on whether Pant can bat 40 mins Tomorrow.

Prithvi Shaw and Yashaswi Jaiswal are needed as openers as our new Sehwag - Gambhir. Dont care about their current form, justice was not done to them when they were in form ( Shaw ). Fitness is used as an excuse these days to exclude players from the team. Rohit, Bumrah, Rahul are not exactly fitness freaks. Still their place in team is reserved. Shreyas and Pant aside, every one else should be booted out ideally. A Ranji team would play spin better than these mental midgets.

BD need to get Pant out very quickly. If they can do that, they have an opening. Otherwise, India should win this comfortably.
 
sending axar was a good decision. he was any how not contributing as expected down the order. after winning that ODI v WI i thought he will gain some confidence show improvement in batting but he has been a disappointment with bat in all formats.
so might as well burn him to protect your best players, and surprisingly he looked comfortable out there. he looks set, let us see how much he will end up with.
old, soft ball is easier to handle on this pitch. 10 more overs and runs will be easy to come i guess.

Some nerve racking excitement may occur at best but at the end India may be the winner.

Bangladesh may lament why the top order batted so poorly.

Yeah. They probably needed 100 more runs. 245 could've been decisive.

But, let's see. You never know.
 
If I was Dravid, I would play them a video of when Messi lost the World Cup Final and then a video of last week's World Cup win to help inspire the team.

Give them a pat on the back and let them know they all have a Lionel Messi inside them.

Bit much for Bangladesh I'd save that for a final v Pakistan or England.
 
Iyer, Pant and Ashwin with the other two guys who are batting now should take India to the finishing line.
 
Odd ball kept low but the pitch isn't a minefield. All 4 top batsmen of India batted poorly. Gill Pujara missed pretty straight balls and Kohli was doing lunging excercise every ball irrespective of its pitch. Kohli's game against spin has totally dwindled.
 
Pant is due a failure and Iyer as usual will be bounced out. India should lose this for it's own benefit and no series win should come under mental midget's captaincy who would otherwise will cling onto the team like a leech for few more years doing nothing. It's one thing to have averaged 30 when you are out of form / in declining phase and imagine it's your career average as a top order batter and are asked to lead the National team! What a farce! Unbelievable!
 
Even after dropping kuldeep, india would have not chased more than 70 if kohli would have taken those catches. Dropper 4 catches and scored one run. He along with klrahul are main culprit for india being too weak/timid in this test

He was never great against spin to begin with. However, during last few years his spin playing capabilities have gone totally kaput. If only, he swallowed his ego a bit and played a bit of FC cricket in India at least.

In general save Pujara and Pant on some occasions, we have been dire against spin during last decade or so.

Don't count on it. I don't mind KL Rahul's team getting beaten by BD for the first time. Justice for Kuldeep.
