What's new

India (317/5) beat England (251) by 66 runs to win first ODI at Pune

With Thakur, good for nothing Prasidh Krishna and mental midget Kuldeep, ENG will win this in 45 overs like a walk in a park. 350 was on the cards but as usual our slow starters Rohit and Dhawan killed the chances. Only Bhuvi is the hope. If he picks a couple of early wickets, there is a chance.

So far the new players have performed. Looking for Prasidh to justify his selection.

The abundance of batting talent in India is just keeps on increasing. Whom to play and whom to bench is the biggest dilemma for captain. Krunal Pandya now...phew.

Talents like Pant, SKY, Washington etc is warming the bench.
And then there are Gill and Shaw for the openers slot. Things do look rosy right now

So it means that a 'Rahul' can never be successful in Narendra Modi Stadium :misbah. Once out of it Rahul seems to have found his mojo.

Most runs at Home

14192 - Sachin Tendulkar
13117 - Ricky ponting
12305 - Jacques Kallis
12043 - Kumar Sangakkara
11679 - M Jayawardene
10000 - Virat Kohli*

Truly India mey bohat talunt hai. They're definitely winning the upcoming Asia cup, Test championship, both WT20 and the ODI WC.

We will never be as talented/blessed/charismatic/good looking as Pakistanis are, Billu. So, by that token, Pakistan will remain favourites for the World T20, next WTC and the next World Cup in India.

Good total by India.

Rohit and Dhawan both starting slowly is not good for India. One of them need to take on the bowling initially.

The magician, Shreyas needs to understand that if he doesn't stop dancing on crease, he may soon be carrying water bottles as there are players with greater ceiling than him sitting outside.

Brilliant comeback from KL. If the match is in Narendra Modi stadium, 'Rahul' should be dropped and brought back again after the venue changes.

Brilliant cameo from Krunal but that over- excitement needs to be controlled. It can go wrong some other day.

India favourites as England might be missing the services of Eoin Morgan today.

Prasidh is just a bang average bowler. He's not an international material at all. It's a shame players like Natarajan and Siraj are warming the bench for this poor bowler.

Definitely not as good looking but India will start as favorites for every upcoming tournament. I really do hope they can handle the pressure...

Easy win on the cards for england. This is a belter.
Krunal is an average cricketer

Jasprit and the two Mohammads should be India's first choice pace attack. Ishant took 70 matches to become a decent bowler, Thakur is a portly trundler, Kumar has always been a defensive bowler and the rest are not worth mentioning.

Poor call on wide, that was not a wide. Good comeback by Bhuvi.

This is ODI batting at its best from bairstow. Not afraid to go over the top at all with the field in

317 looks below par. Against England, anything under 350 is asking for trouble. Poor effort from India.

Flat track .... Bairstow struggled in T20 and Tests. Alex Hales should have been considered for this series. Perhaps he may return when Pakistan Cricket Team tour England.

We lost First Test in the series.
We lost First T20 in the series.
Looks like we are loosing First ODI as well.

Like I said, India mey bohat talunt hai. After some uncharacteristic performances, they are back to their best.

English batting shows how far behind we are in ODI batting.

90 in the first ten. Truly Pakistan can only dream of this.

No, you can aim for it if you pick the right players.

Not sure how you want to get their with a combination of Imam ul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan

Came out of the cave after Test series and T20 series humiliation threads.
:misbah
He came out of his cave after India lost the first test against England. He was in the cave in the first place ever since we won the Australia series.

You're right. No chance that Rizwan and Imam concede 90 in the first ten overs of an ODI. They simply don't have the "talunt".

We are about 50 runs short. Our top-3 are to be blamed for this.

I really cannot understand what value two new balls are bringing to the ODI game, they are just making this an elongated version of T20s which no one will like.

ODIs can only and only be interesting if there is good balance between bat and ball and wickets keep falling, at least in most games.

T20s you can play on flattest of wickets and still wickets will fall due to extravagant batting and Scoreboard pressure, but in ODIs that cannot be the case, there is plenty of time so you need more challenging conditions for batsmen, both the pitch and factors such and reverse swing and ball spinning.

Yes, meanwhile pakistan has won 2 back to back test series in australia and defeated aus, NZ, Eng & SA in t20 in their own turf.

Get over the excitement of beating Australia 'B' already. That's done.

Yes, meanwhile Pakistan have defeated Australia back to back in tests in Aus, also beat Aus, NZ, Eng & SA in t20s in their own backyard.

Kuldeep's 10 overs will decide the result of this match. Big match for him as his reputation after his novelty factor worn has been really low.

The most horrid rule change out of a bunch of horrible changes. The reverse and turn we saw with the old ball is completely gone.

Seeing how Rashid and Ali fared on this pitch, I doubt he'll decide this match.

Pant can be the Gilchrist in ODIs . He is the ideal opener for India. Even KL takes his time.

What's the record for biggest ODI partnership? These two should go for that record now.

He can play every shot against pace and spin, feel he is a bit wasted at 5. He is definitely capable of taking advantage of those PP overs.

Let him bat at 5 only. He bats at a good rate at that position. As opener, he bats slowly.

We are still in Dhoni era to start really slowly in first 10 overs and then gradually press on the pedal.

Let him bat at 5 only. He bats at a good rate at that position. As opener, he bats slowly.

I think he does that because he is cautious about his position or is told to bat slow. He is definitely capable of batting at a good strike rate.

Nice bit of entertainment there by England openers :yk

India will atleast bat aggressively next time onwards.

Jesus.

England’s aggression has not tapered in white ball cricket after fulfilling their dream of winning the World Cup.

One off upsets aside, only India and Australia on their days can stop them in LOIs.

So much confidence and talent.

Hell, no! We are using this outdated template for ODI batting for so many years now and no way we'll chuck that so easily.

I think he does that because he is cautious about his position or is told to bat slow. He is definitely capable of batting at a good strike rate.

He is capable of doing many things but I think his mind is cluttered when he opens. He was batting selfishly even in IPL as opener. This hundred syndrome can cost India. KL has a brilliant record at no.5 and he plays with uncluttered mind at that position and also let him keep too.

England has already hit 8 6s in 15 overs while we hit that many 6s in 50 overs!

Prasidha gets his maiden international wicket, Roy gone.
