What's new

India (587 & 427/6d) defeat England (407 & 271) by 336 runs in 2nd Test at Edgbaston

Playing on these kind of pitches, English Cricket is going nowhere! They cannot develop skills of their bowlers when they go outside England, neither can their batsmen tackle the variations they find outside their den! They have been struggling in ODIs (losing to Afghanistan and losing like 5 wickets in powerplay), their scoring rate is horrible in LOIs (they are not good in T20s either which requires extreme bazball if at all they know it!)

I don't think England will ever produce a bowler like Anderson... England pitches are known for swing bowling, without even a little bit of grass, the ball is not going to swing even with clould cover... Also the balls used by ECB have been suspcious (suiting their bazball tactics, though even English bowlers/captain come up to umpire for checking with ball...! I don't remember any series where ball has been repeatedly reported by bowlers/captains). And England haven't been producing any noteable spinners of late (which is required to play in Asian Conditions and required in LOIs allover...) I am surprised that there are so many purists (cricket pundits) in England and they are not talking about this... (They seem enjoying this bazball madness!)

If teams copy the Indian Template (batting), they can easily draw test matches in England (just play out the new ball and play normal cricket against old ball - it is not going to swing, not going to grip...) and completely negate the Bazball tactics... (As a bonus England may gift a match with their bazball madness!) So just be careful with batting... India missed a trick in the 1st match! I don't think they are going to lose this match... This is going to be a draw if English batsmen match the scores (I don't think they can match the number of overs being played)
I don't think they really care brother. Apart from Aussies who are also on a decline they don't bother too much about tests.

If this strategy gives them players who can bash at home, on phattas overseas, and excel in LOIs it's a good one.

There are very few people in England waking up in the morning to worry about how their batters are going to perform in a turner in day 5 on the subcontinent.

This is just reflective of the overall trend in cricket. They aren't worried about producing another Anderson, it's just not on their agenda.

Root can be rated as anything but a failure looks very likely in the Ashes.

No need to bring irrelevant things to the discussion.

Root couldn't score on this pitch against this drip of a bowling lineup as you put it.

You may not be aware but there are 2 innings in test cricket. He is still within a chance of once again being there when the winning runs are hit. Dont speak too early.... :sachin

Unless Smith and Brook bat on for another 2 days and England win by an innings. :wg

Basically , Test cricket is dying even in England outside of the home season and away Ashes.

I do wanna say one thing bro. This test pitch is just as bad as Pakistan when england toured.

England failed yesterday due to tiring and scoreboard pressure. All it required was 2 batters to settle.

Their are zero demons in this pitch, nothing for the bowlers.

Its why I dont rate jaiswal. Gill yes cause scoring that much is difficult regardless of the pitch and bowling. The concentration lapse would get you eventually.

Smith and Brooks are good but they are no Bradman's like they are batting atm.

Ready bowls like Karim Jannat. Even the action is very similar. Proper military medium.

Indians must be feeling nostalgia seeing him bowl. The legacy of military mediums Indian Cricket carry is immense.

Seems to bowl as quick if not quicker than frontline Pakistani Test bowlers like Mir Hamza and Abbas.

Glass houses and stones

exquisite bowling from nitish reddy
better than naseem trundler in tests.

keeping it tight

bradman played in amateur era. he would be nothing special in modern era
steve smith is the goat

The smashing has made the ball so soft it sounds like a tennis ball.

The batters should ask the umpire to check the condition of the ball. Now 60 over old, its not pinging as it did which is normal but may be out out of shape.

They may slow the scoring rate as these two want to present when the new ball arrives later.

need express pace or wrist spinners here.
or someone who can bowl a heavy ball constantly.

Ball has been changed now

How come a mediocre cricket nation like England started producing a keeper batter like Jamie Smith? Is he a South African product by any chance?

Remember most mediocre cricket nation in history is bharat.

yes the team that has been test world number 1 in test cricket for a grand total of 2 days is better than bharat

India has produced many ATG in last 50 years. England only 1 - Root lol :viru
grand total of 2 days as world lumber 1. lumber 1 side

vs india who has like 80 weeks at number 1. only behind aus and west indies.

None of the batters from today can play in bradman's era either due to the equipment not allowing any of the strokes we see being played today not to mention the lack of equipment forcing batters to double guess while playing waist or chest high deliveries due to fear of injury and death.

They would have re learn how to play cricket.

In the same way a programmer from 1980's(bill gates) using wire frames cant properly code on react, a programmer like zuck aint gonna be able to code on those wireframes either.

Bradman existed in that era and no one could avg even 70, let along 99 except for him.

You have to appreciate him regardless of this era nonsense. Trust me Bradman aint performing in this era but no one including smith is avg even 20 in that era.

Re learning everything from scratch is bloody difficult.

smith will average just as much as bradman in that era. he is too good. virat would average 10 though.

lol Looks likely because he got out here in the first innings? Sounds like Bollywood cricket script you're reading.

Looks likely because his record in Australia is already mediocre and conditions in Australia are tougher than it's been for years.

What are you reading ? The script for "Desperate Housewives" ?

Goat innings. I chanhe my mind. Jamie smith > Carey > Pant.

Humiliation for @jeeteshssaxena But but but Pakistan, But but but Bangladesh, but but but go watch cricket bro :virat

England should be brave and make green pitches. England's bowling is not that great to run through India's batting lineup on flat tracks. I feel Stokes and Baz are more afraid of their batting collapsing against India bowlers on green pitches.

Flat pitches arent going to take them anywhere

The problem with indian posters like @jeeteshssaxena @Devadwal @Mesozoic @Hellion @uppercut and the rest of the clown gang is that they assume that

A) Being racist and diverting every topic towards Bangladesh and Pakistan.

B) Throwing insult upon insult directly depending the poster rather then addressing the argument

C) Ganging up on posters but running away like chickens when a player literally hits one boundary( ironically England havent even won, they still have 262 runs to get with 5 wickets at hand)

D) Spamming twitter news from Indians with zero verification

Makes them the greatest most intellectual and most knowledgeable posters of all time.

Its hilarious how posters such as Vikram spread lies about me such as wannabe goes into hiding when all of them do it on a diet basis.

I am the most active user on this forumn but even I have to take rest and deal with irl stuff like squash training but apprantly that is running away even though I haven't stopped chipping in this thread lol

Theirs a reason no one takes any of this joke lot seriously and why they lost respect from actually top tier posters like @Major and many others in this forumn.

Please brother, you stick to supporting India, the Goat test team.
Dont worry bro, I spread the jinx. It'll take a while before it fades.

When it starting to fade I will support India again. :vk2 .

I deserve a medal. Single handidely destroying entire gangs on a day by day basis lol.

No i watch cricket with my eyes, try it sometime.

We will see but you first implied he failed in the first innings and now you've changed your tune to history and acc to YOU Aus is harder to bat on now than for a long time, which makes no sense as you have no idea what the pitches.

Delusional posters ko lagta hai 24 hour post kare inke liye or koi kam ni karna 🤣🤣🤣🤣 :kp

Thank you but Id rather not see anything with your eyes , especially not cricket.

Your predictions and assesments over the years are ample proof that they're pretty useless.

Says the one guy who surpassed me in comments before his eventually departure after 1st test.

Also why does keep speaking hindi on an English speaking forumn? Confused character

Thanks for keeping notes, I cant remember anything you've predicted.

But lets see.

Will India win this test ? Yes or no?

Khair, im going offline for 1.5 to 2 hrs. @Devadwal enjoy, you have 2 hrs to prepare for my wrath :vk2 .

I feel deprived that I cant 🤡 on you for 2 hrs.

I hope GG realise that Kuldeep is wicket-taker so from onwards he should play in remaining test. :kp

Why are Jamie and Brook tuk tuking? Are they scared of Jadeja and Sundar on this flat deck? It does seem so lol :inti

India should have gone for a kill here, dangerous partnership, both set for double tons.

May be some instructions from upstairs
====

The Brook-Smith partnership reaches 250!

Currently England's fourth-highest stand for the sixth wicket or lower 🤝

This is Test cricket , you need to first save yourself. You do not want to give India a lead of 200 runs before day 3 ends.

they needed to tuk tuk, its necessary to give the bowlers a break after being out on the field for 150 overs
