What's new

India (587 & 427/6d) defeat England (407 & 271) by 336 runs in 2nd Test at Edgbaston

Good review from siraj, Jamie Smith isnt doing a good job protecting the tail

I think they might win this one.

I am guessing India will have to bat till Day 4 final hour to set a decent target.

Can India bowl out England in 3 sessions? I doubt that because pitch is flat and there is no Bumrah.

There is the possibility of rain also.

Siraj - 4 , Akashdeep -4

Both are like - Adha tera ,adha mera. Baki tali bajane ke liye khilaye hai bowler.

In a rare feat in Test cricket history, both teams recorded 200+ partnerships for the 6th wicket in the same match—only the second such instance ever. The historic moment unfolded during the England vs India Test in Birmingham, 2025, where Gill-Jadeja added 203 runs for India and Brook-Smith piled on 303 for England. This mirrors a similar occurrence back in 2009 during the India vs Sri Lanka Test in Ahmedabad, when Dravid-Dhoni (224) and Mahela-Prasanna (351) delivered monumental stands.

Beautiful bowling with both the new balls. Great energy from both Siraj and Akash.

England can't survive here on last day. Its a dry surface with sun beating down on it all 3 days. It will do tricks as the game moves forward.

India are leading by 180 runs.

This Test should be a draw because I expect India to bat for 2.5 sessions. Maybe more.

Can they bowl England out in 3-3.5 sessions? I doubt. England are Day 5 specialists.

I sense England bowlers will be licking their lips. We've Got cloud cover and humidity, which is a ingredient for success in English conditions.

So I'm thinking how will this test play out? What target will India give England?

400 to 500 chase?

India back in the game. Indian seamers have outbowled their English counterparts barring the brook, smith partnership without Bhumrah.

Due to England's high run rate when they batted means there is a lot of time still left in this test which is not a bad thing for us.

In test cricket, it's imperative to play time too, slam bang cricket won't always pay you dividends. However, to be fair to English batsmen this is the only way they know to bat in test cricket

Weather and collapse permitting, we still hold quite a few aces in this test. Even a score of 200-odd in this innings will give England 400 runs to chase.

Oof, I have been fighting for 72 hrs straight.

Brothers i am gonna take a long winded break now.

I think I have held the fort, the rest is up to my Pakistani brothers to fight and kill and conquer.

I will now fight all day tmr.

But beware, I am still watching. Be scared.

England only play 90 overs in 1st innings to score 400 which give enough time for either team to win the test.

But England pacer may feel the heat in 2nd or 3rd spell because they already bolwed 150 overs .

:kp

England may be saved by rain , but bowling first was wrong decision , and this baz Ball approach is likely to hurt them this time

Pretty terrible batting by all the England batters who aren't named Jamie Smith and Harry Brook.

This deck is as flat as it gets. Though I don't expect it to stay the same in Day 4 and 5.
I don't think pitch will change , India need to score 280+ and give 450+ target in 100 overs.

England will definitely go for the target but hopefully rain stay out of the game .
:kp

Pffttt pitch is still flat as a bloody pancake. Poor batting from england

Don't worry not everyone cries about workload all the time.

India will go hard now , they will not be afraid to go all out here . 400 will be enough to get this fragile batting .

England chased down 370 in last Match and india Only have two wicket taker bowler , rest are garbage:kp

Jaiswal is a one of a kind batsman , he has no fear in his batting. No matter what the situation or bowler . he plays the ball not the bowler.

India are playing three batting all rounders in Sundar , jadeja and Reddy . One more specialist bowler was required. In Test its not effective to play batting all rounders
Should have been Kuldeep for Sundar , wanting batting depth at 8 is utter stupidity .
Awful pitch this btw . 231/1

England's bowling has been dissapointing in this test. Watching Chris Woakes, i don't think he has too many miles left. Anderson at his age was bowling 10 times better.
