Ashwin and Jadeja got their test careers due to the doctored pitches a home. No wonder they were bang average in overseas tests. Never delivered in any overseas test win

On a different note this was also true for Anil Kumble in the 90s. Curators wud prepare designer pitches which wud start breaking up on Day 4/5 and Kumble wud run thru the opposition like knife thru butter. That's how India remained undefeated at home throughout the 90s even with an average team

That's why I rate the Indian team of around late 2010s.... They won at home with slow turners by bamboozling opposition with "seamers" (underline this) making remarkable contribution in home test wins! And then they were extremely competitive overseas... (Even though they couldn't win many series or tests, they ran either the tests OR series closer! Unlike meek surrender of opposition teams coming to India) Yes after a while they inclined towards rank-tuners in home...

Current young Indian team is also looking good, but they should cover some holes (back-up seamers, overseas spinner, a couple of middle order batsmen - I think they will cover it up soon) Currently they have good openers, No.4 Batsman (always a strength with Indian Team - They will find someone!) dangerous WK batsman, Bumrah & Siraj have attained prime now and will do good for at least 2-3 years... I think Bumrah will play all test matches in a series once he settles from injury and when there is something in offer for bowlers...

Not sure about all that calculations. I like to keep it simple. Score as many as you can and as quickly as you can to allow you more time to take 10 wickets.

Pitch has been just poor in both tests.
