England should realise that would have backfired badly against NZ or SA.
They are lucky India has the most non existent tail in existence that will ensure a high score approach wont work but indian batters will be able to ensure draws eventually if said pitches are curated.
Why not only make 1,3,5 roads? England could have beaten india in the 2nd and 4th test if their was some spice?
The philosophy is simple.
England wants to give itself the best chance to be able to outbat India.
You make 400. We do the same but faster.
You score 500. We do the same but faster.
You leave us 400 to chase. We chase it down.
