Ashwin is still a world class bowler.

One match doesn't changes anything.As expected, people will bring down a player on the basis of one bad day.

Smith batting average is also wayy better than what it should be.

As for Ross Taylor, lesser said the better. Avgs 319 vs Zimbabwe and got exposed poorly in last tour.

Let's not forget Yasir also has its bad days.Doesn't change much.So it won't do for Ashwin either.
 
Ashwin needs to get in his groove.

Mishra was under bowled. He needs to bowl 20overs each day. He is a confidence bowler. If he picks one wicket, he will comeback for more.
 
That ball did absolutely nothing. Moeen left a straight one coming in with the angle. Good innings but shocking dismissal.
 
Brain fade from Moen.

Threw it away. Double century was there to be taken. Blew it.

The pitch looked like it would crack but its holding up,looks like 450 on the cards.

Exactly.

Rajkot should not have hosted 1st test. England got owned by a newbie bangla bowler and were low in confidence. Instead of pounding them some more with a turner, we offer them the best practice pitch ever. Poor thinking from Bcci.
 
Ashwin starting off with a flatter trajectory and slowly trying to ramp it up to a flightier trajectory to ensure he doesn't miss his rhythm.

Not quite there yet.

Should try to bowl at 70s mph...got a few to turn at that speed due to revs.
 
Magnificent shot from Bairstow! Attack Mishra like this and now he will lose the plot. Will start bowling worse than he already is. This pitch isn't as flat as Indians are saying. The only time India haven't bowled poorly in the game is when Ashwin set Hameed up and when the seamers bowled with the old ball. Jadeja was alright for a bit
 
India have made a mistake by preparing a pitch that isn't a rank turner. This is a result pitch but the result will not be in their favour
 
Get jadeja on. How did Mishra get so many wickets in the NZ ODI series? Good bowling or poor batting. To be fair I've always rated him a bit in ODIs and he is better than Yasir in the format. In Tests there is absolutely no comparison

Its not a mistake. I want us to play in these pitches too with our back against the walls.

Let them squirm a bit.

Teams are built when they are tested with fire.

Not one ball turned where the batsmen got beaten. Ashwin got those 2 wickets because of the loop and drift he got.

Ashwin just beat Stokes twice with turn. He's improving his speed. This isn't gonna be a draw
 
This surface is starting to turn. Third time it's gripped and turned. With more than 400 on the board England will know this game is theirs unless their spinners really bowl awfully
 
wow watching teams like england and south africa makes me realize how far we are behind these teams. i just don't see how we could ever compete with them for at least another decade :(
 
He is bowling well but still the odd bad ones (touch shorter or fuller) are there. He really needs to work on this aspect.

Pitch has gotten relatively easier to bowl now.

Get Jaddu on.

Brave batting. Stokes knows the ball is starting to turn so he needs to get quick runs now. This guy knows what's up
 
Mishra is absolutely toothless.

Too full.

Get jaddu on for God's sake.

He may be the game changer with his tight lines.
 
The way England are playing Indian spinners shows how well Yasir did in England. Even when he wasn't taking wickets, he wasn't leaking runs.

Bairstow played an identical shot against Yasir at Lords and hit him for 6 but Yasir came back beautifully. Mishra isn't mentally strong enough

I agree. Sounded like a teenage girl for the most part.

Though I didn't agree with the silly reasons for his dismissal.

The bowling changes this match are so disappointing.

This is the time for Ash-Jaddu. If they don't work, Eng will go to 550+.

australia will be okay. it's only a minor blip. they will always be a high quality team that even at its worst is still a top 5 team.

It seem ashwin is just an akhada bowler. He can't do anything anywhere else. Only akhada pitch makes him look great. He is nowhere near great. His stats outside India also justifies that.
 
Will be interesting to see this Indian batting lineup when faced with scoreboard pressure.

This is the first time Kohlis captaincy is really being Test. I think the previous time it was in the first Test against Sri Lanka and you guys lost. He will only get better with time but he has a tendency to panic which is so unlike him when you consider his batting

even if u take the period from 2010 onwards, they've still been number 1 about 1/3 of the time. they are still the world champions and have only lost 1 out of the last 5 world cups.

we just have very high standards for them.
 
Indians been taking fielding tips from the Pakistani players, this is insane.

Still the first day and a bit of the test, I'd wait until the second innings before starting the wrist slitting.

This is garbage captaincy today honestly.

The bowlers who look like taking wickets (Shami, Ashwin) are taken off while Mishy gets more overs and Jaddu none.
 
600 at least is on the way. Great Indian bowling did it happen !!! Whereas Minnow Bangladesh (test) played a lot lot better.
 
Dropping so many catches. Haven't seen India field this badly in the last few years.

Take it easy. Ball was turning from the first over there. This pitch wasn't turning on the first day and in the beginning today. Indias seamers just didn't bowl too well and their fielding was below par.

Shoddy approach by Indians so it can spill over to batting.

I remember you saying you were gonna watch this series to see Ashwin bowl. Haha.....must have terribly disappointed you.
