Guptill has played 45 tests and I am not sure how many more he will keep on playing as he has done really nothing in tests as of now.Avgs 29 overall and I guess some 24-25 excluding zimbabwe and WI.Even bowling AR have more efforts of note as batsmen compared to Guptill.

It isn't like Yadav has taken tons of wicket with his reverse swing. Rohit and Dhawan hasn't done anything special recently and Pujara scored 250* that's why Pujara is in team otherwise you would have seen both Dhawan and Rohit in the team and Pujara as water boy.

Each of top5 batsmen belong to range of very good to great players.All five are 45 avg deserving players. Manish Pandey inclusion would have helped the cause further and made it a potent top 6 line up with Ashwin and Saha still to come.
