Why 500? Declare right away, this is too much for the Poms already. They'll score 150 and 180 trying to get to this.

But then, the bats must satisfy the broadcasters and all that.
 
Swann has already bowled 40+ overs. England planning to bowl out their best bowler in the given conditions right to the hospital I guess. I am not complaining though ;-)

I blame the pitch.

This is a two spinners and two part-time spinners pitch. Cook should have played Monty over.

Finn wouldn't have done anything special.
 
India has slowed down, Dhoni's such an embarrassing test batsman. :))

Ashwin averages 39 in test cricket, which is higher than Dhoni.

So the only thing he isn't proficient at, is fielding. He'd be a superstar in Pakistan!

It was a great toss to win, but our team selection was wrong anyway.

Let's just hope we don't bat like a set of wombles and can get the draw.

i heard them commentate together for like 20 mins and i was in splits!
sidhu, annoying as he is, comes up with some real amazing one liners
 
It's so awkward listening to sky commentary when the camera shows the star team commentating in the commentary box :)))
 
Swann is a gun. He should black up between overs so he can bowl at both ends.

Swann is very fit, he would be unlucky to pick up an injury. But no doubt we have to play at least one other spinner in the 2nd test. Disgraceful selection policy here.

Hope he remains fit. Don't want to see Bresnan bowling crap at 75 mph.
 
Ashwin is a very useful bat. Has the potential to become a very a good all-rounder in Test cricket.
 
Well KP ideally. But we all know that that wouldn't work out.

Vice captaincy is over-rated though. It doesn't matter if you haven't got one.

I essentially agree - until your current form makes it too awkward to drop you for a while. Which is what really should be happening to Broad if this rubbish continues.
 
I'm actually pitying England team now! Prior standing right up to Broad sums it up! Let us declare guys...

There are a lot of talented players in this team.

But honestly the only guys with the mental toughness, dedication and straight-up maturity to lead it are Cook, Trott, Prior and Swann. Pick your captain and vice-captain from these and the results would be as good as they could be.

Bell is a nice guy but sadly too weak. And the petulant likes of Broad, Anderson, Finn and KP should keep their noses out altogether.
 
500 up, why haven't India declared yet? Surely this is enough to give Ashwin and Ojha a go?
 
I'm particularly impressed with Swann! I never rated him before this match, but boy, tremendous player this guy is! Has loads of confidence and will end up as one of the finest England has produced!

Yeah, I thought someone will mention that. I didn't mean that he was 90 mph bowler. But with speed and low bounce a bowler can bring such dismissals into equation.

Look, he is a good bowler, but I've seen him taking wickets against a weak Pakistani line up in England! I mean, this was his first real test against a good line up in tough circumstances...and he's done well..

I guess they will play half and hour more or probably just wait for Pujara's double hundred.

However if they are waiting just for Pujara's double, then it would be poor decision because in that case we can say that they could have sent message to him earlier and try to bowl few over before tea. Could have been interesting few overs for England.

No it wasn't. Check out his match-winning performances in South Africa and Sri Lanka, some of his home and away Ashes tests. Cricket exists outside India fella.

I have a feeling Zaheer will be more effective. He can move ball much more than English bowlers in these conditions.

I don't know why you're getting defensive? Swann was a class bowler before this test and has here stepped up a gear once again - the evidence and statistics suggest that this is pretty clear cut.
 
Now time for India to get a move on. Tee off for another 5 or so overs and declare me thinks. That will leave them with around 20 overs to have a go at Eng before the close of play.
 
all 7 wickets to spinners :))) 3 seamers was the most epic phail selection evar.
